List of Renate Trittelvitz, Md's Reviews
I met her during a 5150 after my last grandparents died and I became agitated. She immediately put me on lithium because it was the only mood stabilizer I hadn't been prescribed. She seems like a villain from a Quentin Tarantino movie, where "good little Jews" are medicated for no good reason. I know that's hyperbolic. But she's awful. She was also very unprofessional, casually eating chips as she saw me in the hospital. Any review that's above two stars is likely fake or questionable at best.
I was a patient of hers a few years ago, and the awful things she said to and about me still live with me to this day. Wouldn't recommend her to anyone. Truly awful to work with. Honestly made me more sad than I was before the therapy.
I was driven into a breakdown by my employer, USL Property Management, and admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. T was assigned to me. She charged me $350 an hour for 22 days. Only spending 10 to 15 minutes a day with me. She was barely listening when I told her what was wrong, diagnosed me with schizophrenia in the first fifteen minutes, and put me on the maximum dose of Geodon and another antipsychotic med. I had a stroke collapsing in the hospital. My last words were, "I'm dying," and the nurses just laughed. No medical intervention. She and the nurses put me in my room for a two hour nap then forced me to get up to attend groups. A neurologist discovered I had lost all electrical activity in the left hemisphere of my brain. I had to relearn how to read and write again. I didn't get treatment until I moved out of state a few years later. Dr. T kept telling everyone I had just feinted. She screamed at me for involving my caretaker. He called her cell to argue about the treatment saying I just needed a Valium. She screamed so much over this. All I really did need was a Valium. Then the monster who raped me had his daughter check into the hospital to harass me. Dr. T said I was imagining it and upped my dose even after the stroke.
In patient doctor that you are stuck with and if you ask for a second opinion or don't want to see her on an outpatient basis you are in for a treat. Crazy is as crazy does.
Dr Trittelvitz is the only psychiatrist in my life who really got me. She was very patient in finding out exactly what made me tick. With that, she treated me for what I needed, not always what I wanted. The outcome was always for my benefit. I am 45 years old. I've been under doctor treatment for over 20 years. Dr. T has been my psychiatrist for 3 years. My only regret is that I didn't know of her sooner.
Please know that if you or your child is assigned to dr. Trittelvitz you can refuse her treatment and insist that you are given another doctor. I highly recommend that you do this. I don't think that she is intentionally trying to harm people, but she is reckless and arrogant. We had to take our son out of the hospital against medical advice. When we asked her to discontinue his medication because we discovered she was dosing it in an off label unapproved and potentially dangerous way she refused and upped his dose. On my way out I spoke with another parent who told me that her daughter had suffered lithium toxicity under Dr. Trittelvitz's care. I asked her why she hadn't filed a malpractice suit and she replied "if I had the mental courage to do that I would, but I'm dealing with too many other things". That sums up why this woman is still treating our children, because we have bigger problems. For the patient who found her helpful, I'm so glad for you. Unfortunately I think maybe if you treat 10 patients all the same you might get it right for one of them, luckily it was you. For the rest of us and our loved ones, I would advise extreme caution.
This doctor is a fraud. He charges patients even when he doesn't see them. I voluntarily entered a detox unit a Mills Hospital and apparently even if you don't need a psychiatrist you must be seen and evaluated by one. I spent 4 days at the hospital and successfully got off opioids with the help of my pain doctor who saw me daily BUT not only was I NEVER evaluated by Dr Trittlevitz, I NEVER , EVER , NOT EVER saw this person . I don't know if he is a she, and I was charged 1,365.00 . That's not even the worst part . I chose Mills Hospital because they are in network and he is not. Why is a Doctor allowed to practice in a in network hospital when you not in network. I would like to see what he wrote in his notes because they are not my words. He is an INSURANCE FRAUD DOCTOR.
Simply the worst doctor I ever encountered - mis treated my daughter and billed us over a thousand dollar for a few minutes of 'service' - conveniently not in an insurance plan even if she (mis)practices in in service hospitals - a shame for the whole profession

Interesting to read the reviews, because I can see where the one-stars are coming from.... and I can see where the five-star is coming from. Dr. T took care of me in the hospital a year ago exactly. I'm just now accepting the diagnosis that she recognized in me then. And I happen to be back on the medication that she gave to me at that time. Hah. Sometimes hospital doctors see different sides of us than outpatient doctors do, but that doesn't always mean they are wrong. While perhaps at times appearing brusk, in my experience she can be quite caring, and excited when her patients (at least me) improve. I wish I had given her more benefit of the doubt when I was her patient, but then I was [literally] certifiable at the time. (The whole process of folks reviewing psychiatrists on Yelp is interesting, but I do so because I know others read this and make choices based on these reviews.) While I was hospitalized I had hospital-mates who were not fans of her work. The hard thing about presenting, or being taken to, a hospital is that you don't get to choose your MD [under California law you are allowed to request a change of doctor or facility, but they may not be able to honor your request depending on who and where is available], and you may get someone who you don't work well with. But I don't know that that means they are a bad person, or a bad doctor even. Yet everyone is entitled to their opinion. That's how this website works. I don't know where this review is really going, but in short I thought I'd add something to present a different viewpoint than I see in the other reviews. Hope it helps.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
