List of Ross Dehovitz's Reviews
Having four children means many routine trips to the pediatrician. Dr. DeHovitz has given excellent care to all of my sons. Highly recommend.
Could not agree more with the terrific reviews of this wonderful doctor. Dr. DeHovitz is competent, thoughtful, patient, thorough and takes time to develop a relationship with the parent and his child patient. He cared for the health of my son from birth through age 19 -- could not have imagined a better physician. Truly top notch in all aspects.
We have a newborn (now she is 2 months). We have been seeing Dr. DeHovitz since she was born. Today was our third visit.Dr. DeHovitz is SUCH A CARING DOCTOR!!!!! It is so nice to see a doctor that is kind, gentle, friendly, explains everything and always asks if we have any questions. We had a couple of issues with the baby. And the doctor gave really good advice.Good guy. Good doctor. My husband and my highest recommendation.
Dr. Dehovitz has been caring for both of my children since they were newborns. His calm, thoughtful demeanor has always been a comfort - both to me and my children! Our visits with him never feel rushed and I always feel like his attention is solely focused on our care. Our issues have ranged from mundane colds/viruses to navigating multiple food allergies to changing/maturing young bodies. As the children have gotten older, he talks to them and asks them how they're feeling; he's very considerate of their feelings. In December, my daughter had a terrible mono-like virus that took her out of school for weeks. I was very impressed by how often he checked in on her progress. After each office visit (and there were many that month!), he called and asked about her progress. When we had to go to Pediatric Urgent Care and saw another doctor, he still called and followed up with us. I'm always pleased by the quality of care that the kids receive from PAMF Pediatrics and Pediatric Urgent Care, but his care of my daughter while she was ill was above my normal, high expectations. I know how busy his practice is and I am grateful for the attention he paid her. Our family is grateful to have such a thoughtful and attentive physician!
Dr. Dehovitz was the pediatrician for all three of our children. Our children are grown now and making the transition from pediatrics to family practice. They would of preferred to stay with Dr. Dehovitz, he has been the most trusted, loyal, kind, gentle doctor we have every known. Our middle daughter has had a few medical issues over the years and Dr. Dehovitz was always there to walk beside us as we dealt with each one. I can not say enough about how wonderful of a person he is. I know I can speak for all three of our children in saying that they wouldn't of wanted any other doctor growing up.
All of my three children have received the care of Dr. Dehovitz for over 19 years. Our issues have ran the gamut from the ordinary to the extraordinary, including a fairly rare diagnosis and multiple aspects to the medical care. We always received ample time and consideration as well as thoughtful care that thought through our approach to intervention. Referrals to specialists were appropriate when needed. He had terrific followup and coordination with each of them, including every report that came from Lucille Packard specialists. He handled the idiosyncrasies of our kids very well. My children were very comfortable with him. We highly recommend Dr. Dehovitz.
I have known this doctor for many years and my child was in his practice and now my grandchildren also see him. He is one of the most caring, professional, and ethical doctors that I have had the opportunity to know. I fully trust him with the care of not only my child but my precious grandchildren. He has always made himself available and has never prescribed medication just to prescribe it. I know he does not believe in overmedicating a child. He always takes the time to fully understand what is happening and than proceeds to explain everything related to the care of the child. One grandchild has had some very usual medical conditions. He diagnosed those conditions and has assisted in providing the ongoing care needed. At no time has my child or grandchildren ever felt uncomfortable in seeing this doctor.
This is a very, very strong anti-recommendation based on experience in mid-90s. This pediatrician missed my son's hearing problems. My son was having one ear infection after another. DeHovitz kept prescribing antibiotics and remained completely unconcerned. I then went abroad for summer and there an ENT alerted me to the adenoids issue. I returned to California and took my soon to the California Ear Institute on Welch Road. He had a hearing loss! An urgent surgery to insert ear tubes and remove overgrown adenoids was done at Lucile Packard. It restored his hearing, but the period of waiting for the results of operations was scary, because there was a risk of a ***permanent hearing loss***.My son suffered from hearing loss during the critical period of language development when he needed that hearing to learn to speak English well. Dr DeHovitz was reckless in not paying attention to the succession of ear infections. Had I not gone abroad and obtained a second opinion there but instead continued going to Dr DeHovitz, my son's hearing loss might have become permanent (from being left unchecked for too long). So DeHovitz is a reckless guy. He is also snobbish and full of himself, which is probably why he does not pay attention. If you can go to the Los Altos center instead of the Palo Alto center, then Dr Lloyd Brown there is a darling.
My children long ago outgrew their pediatrician, but I have been intending for years to write a glowing review of Dr. Dehovitz. When I think back on our years of seeing him, mostly for routine childhood ailments and check-ups, I actually have fond memories. His competence as a pediatrician goes without question, of course, but beyond that what stands out in my mind is his warmth and gentleness and, perhaps especially, the fact that he was a good listener. As a mother of young children, I naturally had impressions, opinions, and questions about what was going on with them, whether they were sick or well or just going through a phase. Dr. Dehovitz never, ever appeared disinterested or impatient with what I wanted to tell him or ask him about what was up with the kids. In fact, he seemed to consider my input important and useful to him in understanding what they needed. He was always reassuring, never dismissive, and clearly competent in every way. When my daughter got stung by a bee and had an allergic reaction, the office swung into action immediately and all was well. When I told him a certain antibiotic had not seemed to work for my son, he did not dismiss me as ignorant or butting into his field of expertise (as other doctors occasionally do) but considered this useful information in deciding what to prescribe. In sum -- he is a great doctor and a wonderful person. He also by the way back then had a great nurse named Barbara who was a huge asset to his practice, also a lovely ,warm and competent person. I don't know if she is still at the PAMF. Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
