Dr. Sanislo is smart and caring. i am very lucky to be his patient
Dr. Sanislo worked on my detached retina twice this past year. I had and laser surgery done 10 years ago from a Stanford doctor - Dr. Rice and it was done very well and I didn't have issues or spots with my eyes till this past year. Unfortunately the Dr. Rice - had retired from Stanford and I had to see someone else.I was seeing spots on my drive back home and I knew I had to see an opthamologist. I did my research online for doctors and I made an appointment with PAMF for Dr. Sanislo. There was only one Yelp review and a couple of other doctor reviews online - not enough of a sample size. His credientials seemed good - Stanford teaching etc.so I felt it was okayThey fit me in the next day because a detached retina needs to be looked at immediately. I was the 12th person to bee seen -that day - mid-morning. I don't know if this is a PAMF issue but Dr. Sanislo was seeing too many patients. He was litteraly running from patient to patient. He didn't even greet me - he was very business like and told me that I needed laser sugery and that he could fit me in the same afternoon. Normally I would be worried about such a procedure and get a couple of secondary opinions but he calmed me down by saying that a lot had changed in the past 10 years and now it is in and out - a very simple process. I would be out driving back home the same day - I think he had said that I could even work a few hours later. His surgery was hurried. While I was sitting on the opearting chair he was discussing with his assistant said the laser machine in this room did not seeme to be "very accurate". This talk made me - the patient- nervous.Immediately after he surgery I had a reaction. My wife had to be called to pick me up and I was taken to the hospital. I went to see him again a week later for a followup and he told me that I stil needed laser surgery as I was still seeing spots. He was more thorough this time and was polite and nice because I had a reaction to the laser surgery the first time. My wife was with me this time and she too felt that Dr. Sanislo did not give a feeling of comfort. However the damage was done. I am still seeing spots and it is something I will have to live with for the rest of my life. I went to another opthamlogist (Sanislo's Stanford colleague) that there is debris in my eye from the 2 laser surgeries that he performed. Teh second doctor said the eye is delicate and multiple surgeries can lead to stress in the eye.I certainly hope he reads this review and is more patient and thorough. All patients are not alike and I think doctors sometimes forget that a human being is on the other side and you are impacting their physical lives.
Dr. Sanislo saved my sight. I had two detached retinas in the same eye within a year. After Three surgeries, and a number of laser surgeries my vision is back or restored to my previous sight. He is the best. A caring doctor who is very conscientious. I go in every year and he takes special care to work with me and explains all the questions I still have.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
