My pre-cataract surgery appointment today in Pasadena was as perfect as my 3 previous appointments in Glendora.  I cannot say enough positive about the organization, the staff, the doctors, and their professionalism.  It went smoothly with a a friendly staff explaining everything they were doing and what to expect.  The Covid protection protocal was strictly enforced, with constant cleaning of sources and hand sanitizing stations throughout the offices.  I enthusiastically recommend this group for your vision needs.

Inept scheduling with long waits After checking in and sitting in the waiting room for over an hour, I was told that the doctor I had an appointment to see wasn't in that day.  I got nonsensical and contradictory responses when I asked why I wasn't told this when I checked in.  I was extremely happy with the doc I saw many years ago here, but the unprofessional treatment of patients by admin is disqualifying.  I am going elsewhere and based on the number of comments with people with similar experiences my negative expletive is the norm.

I went to California Eye Specialist today as an emergency Visit. Jessica the doctors assistant was very knowledgeable and professional I was treated very well. Dr. Mahdavi came in shortly after and explained everything that was going on with my eye. Thank you California Eye Specialist for your great staff and excellent patient care !!

I never write reviews because it takes so much time but this place really needs to be known for all its shortcomings. If you have a quick in and out, you may get lucky and not experience the things I did, but if you have a more complicated case and need their help with paperwork, scheduling and billing - beware! It is a fast lane, with long waits, hard to get appointments, rushed doctors and  technicians efficient to the point of coldness. I had a very hard time getting their office working with the third party disability insurance company. I had two surgeries with the retina specialist Dr Amini, and needed a third one with Dr Sheldon, cataract specialist, who I was scheduled to see at the end of September. I was never seen by him, instead I was seen by a  totally different doctor whose name I don't even recall. She unceremoniously decreed what my choice for the replacement lens was (which was dubious since I never had any correction for astigmatism, it is very mild)  and said that someone will "call you to schedule a surgery some time in December".  This was totally unacceptable to me: 1) I was tired of waiting to gain my vision back 2) I have met my out of pocket spending for the year and it was imperative to secure the surgery appointment for this year. I had no answers for either how or when, and was so thoroughly fed up with the place that I went to a different practice all together.  There I had my answers right away,  and my cataract surgery was done in 3 weeks! Glad I did, since  I received a call from California Eye Specialists regarding the scheduling late in November after the surgery was already done!Unfortunately I still have to deal with their billing department, since  I am battling thousands of dollars in unpaid bills due to incorrect billing since January and yet to see any progress.! I am dealing with Eva, who doesn't return calls, misplaces the documents and checks and generally doesn't do her job. I don't know if this is intentional on the part of the office to stretch this out and then declare my case delinquent and send it to the collection agency or she is exceptionally bad at her job. If you can, find a smaller office to help you through your eye surgery!

Dr. Camara is an exceptional eye doctor. He is devoted to his patients, has high standards, and many years of experience. I trust his judgment. He always has time for his patients and has been very helpful to me in the personal challenges I have faced over the years. I am very grateful that he is my eye doctor. I am glad to see so many excellent review about him.

HEALTH CARE VIOLATIONS!!! No transparency when it comes to your health.  Don't Go!  Don't get glasses from them! I'm 61 years old. The  glasses I got from them are over a year old.  Now, the lenses are swirling, peeling, and scratching.  I took it into them and they (Lorena and Milita) are telling me that there is nothing they can do because the manufacturers don't guarantee them after a year. I said where does it say that? They said it is written on the receipt and the customers know.  I didn't have my receipt.  I asked them to show me proof of where it says it.  They said they purge their files after a while and they don't have proof.  I asked to get in contact with the manufacturer.  They said they can't let know or give me the information of who made the glasses that I am wearing (isn't that some kind of HIPPA violation)? Don't I have the right to know who the manufacturer is that made my glasses?  Other optical companies just tell you if you ask them.  But, California Eye Specialists CAN'T tell you. Then, I asked to speak to the owner of California Eye Specialists and they told me I can't talk to them either.  They wouldn't even tell me their names. I have the RIGHT to know who owns the company and to speak to the owners if I choose.I was referred to them from Health Care Partners about 6 years ago for them to check on growing cataracts (I have contacted Health Care Partners and I am awaiting their answer).  I've been seen by their doctors several times. My daughter has seen them and purchased glasses from them.  If I would have known that they wouldn't have told me who owns the company, I would have gone elsewhere.  They serve the public, the public has the right to know who owns them, and who are the manufacturers they work with. There are no SECRETS in HEALTH CARE. To not let patients know who the owners are, or the names of the companies they are dealing with is a HEALTH CARE VIOLATION (especially if the patients have made a request for this information).This would have been a 0 RATING if they allowed it.Irene M.
