Excellent therapy
I am so incredibly grateful for this place. I've had multiple therapists throughout the years and my daughter has one as well. For there to be an affordable option for therapy - well it's a blessing beyond words. The therapists care and are professional. Thank you all!
I have 2 experiences seeing student therapists here. The first one, was great: she tried her best to help, listened. She wasn't perfect, but she tried very hard, and I felt really cared for in this context. When she moved on to another posting, I had my second student therapist. It was awful honestly... it felt like I often had to convince them to believe me, there was some gaslighting, putting words I didn't say into my mouth by making incorrect deductions about what I said, even later bringing said sentences up (from deductions of what I said, not the words I actually said), using them against me. Very disappointing because I came in being slightly anxious about the pandemic, and left with what feels like full blown depression + a hole in my pocket from the money spent. I'm giving this a low rating not because of the one bad experience, but rather because it seems a hit or miss here... I wonder, where is the supervisor in all this? Do they even review the sessions that their students are running, or is it just free rein? If supervision is less stringent here, then perhaps the risks far outweigh the benefits. If anything, feel free to insist upon changing your provider even if you feel like its an overreaction. Its probably not. Better be safe than sorry, and avoid my mistake.
I am very impressed with the organization, timely, and well run mannerisms of this program. I think it's wonderful that they have different tiers for affordability. They offer individual therapy with grad student trainees at $45 an hour, Masters Degree therapists at $65 an hour, Doctoral Degree Therapists at $85 an hour, and a Licensed Professional Therapist at $130 an hour. Family or couples therapy are subsequently $55, $75, $95, and $150. When I first called to request an initial appointment, it was after hours so I left my information on the machine. The next day I received a call back from a staff member who explained the process and broke down my options. I made my requests and the very next day a therapist in my requested tier called me to schedule my first appointment. She was helpful in giving directions, parking, and instructions on what to expect. I have had 3 sessions so far with Jamie and she's been nothing but professional, supportive, empathetic, and encouraging. She's patient and a very good listener. During our first session, she was very transparent with me about what may happen during my course of therapy (i.e. that I may start feeling worse before getting better, that therapy takes work and effort, etc) They asked my consent to record and use my sessions for training purposes and I think it's great. They are helping me with my problems and issues, the least I could do is give back and allow for them to use my experiences and my sessions to better train their therapists. There is free 2 hour visitor parking below the building with elevator access to the office. I never have issues finding parking and appreciate that they have evening sessions available for working professionals.
I went to family therapy with an intern because that's all I could afford ($55 a visit). Unfortunately, I believe our family's problems were over and above what she could provide and instead of a case review and perhaps transferring us to another therapist, we continued on a trail of tears for a year. My son was barred from therapy after about 3 visits. Then an attempt at "coparenting" therapy was recommended. My soon to be ex-husband showed up, but did nothing he was supposed to do as a co-parent. I think the intern did the best with the skills she had, but I really think that the people supervising her and watching the tapes should have seen she was in over her head and recommended another type of therapy or another therapist with more experience. I voluntarily ended therapy when the intern graduated and offered to see us at her new higher rate, since I was laid off from work for the summer, paying for this by myself and past efforts were unfruitful. At that time, I had no idea my husband had filed for divorce, as it never came up in a session. My son ended up trying to commit suicide a few months later and was hospitalized in a nearby psychiatric unit. If I had to do it over again, I would not have spent an entire year wasting our time.
I sought counseling services here for my nine year old daughter who was exhibiting behaviors and thoughts of self harm. We were assigned to Jennifer, a grad student counselor, as requested, in a timely manner. For $45 a session, it's affordable weekly therapy and I was recently told they may have an affiliation with Kaiser and accept their insurance with a smaller fee. While my spouse decided that the bimonthly (every other month) counseling our daughter was receiving at Kaiser is sufficient, (plus her counseling program at school which is essentially group therapy on a weekly basis), I decided to seek individual counseling there for myself and was impressed with the kindness and attentiveness of the counselor assigned to me, Rena. A clean facility with nice decor in the waiting area and a fair amount of street parking, and also affiliated with the renowned Fuller Theological Seminary, I highly recommend this counseling center which accepts people of all denominations and also advertises that they often have Spanish and Chinese speaking counselors on staff. Three months was my suggested time frame for weekly individual therapy.
The service here is incredible! My therapist is very helpful. Highly recommend. Been coming For a month and will continue coming.
Really great and affordable therapy. Highly recommend. Definitely disagree with 1 star person below, they are compassionate, professional and patient. Not a scam. Lots of therapists to choose from, and they are sensitive to self employed/lower income people who are trying to better themselves but can't afford all the other location's $100-$200/hr.
Really great if you don't have great insurance or you need to see a professional who doesn't cost your entire paycheck every month really love my counselor and would recommend this place to anyone
We had a fabulous evaluation for my daughter. Fuller was respectful and spot on with there insight. Thank you.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
