Jeannie Shen's Online Review Report Card

I am so glad that others have had such a great experience with Dr. Shen. I wish I had had the opportunity to as well, but I could not get past the front office staff, despite being told I needed surgery at the imaging center where my biopsy was done. Again, I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Shen. I only wish her office staff lived up to her reputation.

Dr. Shen is fantastic. She is very knowledgeable and specializes in breast cancer treatment and surgery. My mom and I came here for a second opinion and we are glad we did. The first surgeon I went to where we waited 5 hours for a family consultation just to have him explain 10 minutes the procedure. It was a very annoying experience and caused a lot stress, not ideal for people who are looking for treatment. Our PCP recommended UCLA and we are very glad! Although we waited for about 1 hour to see the doctor, it was worth for a professional like her. Dr. Shen spent at least 30 minutes explaining everything to us, and when I attempted to jump ahead, she kindly put me in my place. I totally understand where she was coming from, as she is the expert who has 17+ years of experience and I only did my research online. She answered all our relevant questions and assured us of the best procedure possible. The staff there is good too. They spoke Chinese and I believe someone spoke Spanish there as well. At the time of writing this, parking is $8 full day, and $1.25 per hour. You can find street parking across the street on Raymond for free. It gets filled up fast. Every thing went well and we are going to the follow up appointment in 1 week.

Dr. Shen is amazing. She takes her time with you. You never feel rushed. She answers all your questions. She is an excellent surgeon. My incision is amazing. She is very caring and knows all about breast cancer. I couldn’t imagine going through this with any other surgeon! Her office staff and nurses are the best as well. You always feel welcomed and cared for. The way you are greeted and treated is like your family.

Excellent Professional and thorough. Explained everything so i could understand, answered my seemingly silly questions, put my mind at ease, and got rid of the cancer.

Dr Shen is the best surgeon, extremely knowledgeable and skillful in her work. She really cares about your welfare and was ny life-saver. Really fortunate to have her as my doctor and really appreciate it!

Dr. Shen has truly been a life-saver and exceptional treatment coach to my aunt/godmother in her yearlong battle with an aggressive & extremely complex form of breast cancer. My aunt was diagnosed with a very aggressive form (Her2+)/more complex form of breast cancer back in Nov 2019. Although my aunt’s 2019 health insurance didn’t cover for her care, Dr. Shen’s exceptional care team made it a priority to schedule my aunt’s appointment first thing in 2020 and her team has been flexible and accommodating with my aunt’s insurance situation considering the medical urgency! During the initial appointment (and many subsequent appointments after that), Dr. Shen has always demonstrated compassionate care, patience, professionalism, and her top-notched clinical knowledge in the field! Due to the complex situation of my aunt, she unfortunately didn’t have much choice in her treatment plan..and Dr. Shen efficiently and effectively chose the optimal treatment plan to target the aggressive form of

Despite the 10-month combo treatment (chemo+ targeted therapy+ surgery+ radiation) journey and fatigue/exhaustion that my aunt went thru' in the past 10 months, she is definitely working towards recovery now & it wouldn't have been possible without Dr. Shen's early diagnosis and her top-notched knowledge/experience in treating such a complex and aggressive state of cancer! At 24 I had a tumor and had just moved to LA. My radiologist said it needed to be removed immediately and the assistant gave me two business cards for surgeons. The nurse had also been diagnosed with cancer and whispered that Dr. Jeanie Shen was the better one to choose. As uncomfortable and worried as I was, Dr. Shen and Dr. Judy have the BEST bedside manner in explaining what to expect, risks, and necessary screening for the future. She was not only great at calming my fears, but extremely realistic about not paying for unnecessary testing that I couldn’t afford. The day of the surgery, she never rushed me and was so kind. A rare doctor to find. Excellent. Professional. Extremely compassionate staff. Anytime I mention her name at the breast imaging center downstairs, they sing her praises.
