Jonathan Tam Md's Online Review Report Card

They charge you for things you shouldn't need to pay!!! I was referred to Jonathan Tam because my doctor, Dr. Henry Tsai was out of town and Jonathan Tam was subbing in for Dr. Tsai. Jonathan Tam did the regular pregnancy checkout for me. At my visit, I told them several times that I didn't need to pay copay because my plan covers regular pregnancy check outs. However, his front desk insisted that I need to pay and wouldn't let me see the doctor unless I paid. After my visit, I found out that his office submitted additional charges to my insurance so I need to pay more. Throughout my whole pregnancy, I have never been charged or required to pay a dime from my visits with Dr. Tsai. Eventually, they refunded my copay but be sure to check your statements and bills after your visit with Jonathan Tam's office.

After reading the reviews, I still proceeded to give Dr Tam a try due to the urgency and wanted to give them the benefit of a doubt. As someone mentioned in the reviews, the front office staff is not doing their job. First time in his office, so I had to complete a series of questions but more than anything front office clerk asked what Inwas there for in front of everyone waiting (full office)!! This is a personal matter and should be kept confidential. I will be making the recommendation to doctor to include that in his questionnaire instead! Follow HIPPA laws. Also, took clerk almost 2 hours to input into computer sonInhad to wait to be called in over 2 hours from my appt time. A procedure was ordered by Dr. Tam, so upon leaving I asked clerk about procedure and she said they would get back to me. I understand that possibly they have to call and get authorization from insurance and see abput availability, but I called to follow up next day and they told me I had to sign a form they neglected to give me to sign authorizing the procedure!!! Now they want me to drive back to sign a form. (I'm nowhere near his office) THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND WASTE OF TIME when it could be faxed to me, but no, they need an actual signature! How about they do that prior to the procedure the day of? I left msg for doctor to call me back. Meanwhile checking with my insurance for alternatives. Dr. Tam himself was brief but semi-listened to my concerns. Good thing I had my previous exam records so he could review and be brought up to date. However, they need to get up to speed with technology to access data and issue whatever documents they need prior to leaving the office.

I am never coming back. This place is so disorganized and uncaring. My second appointment, he mixed me up with another patient and told me I was pregnant when I absolutely was not. He didn't own up to his mistake at all and I was freaking out internally until a nurse told me that I wasn't pregnant. He doesn't ask any of the important questions that they should ask when they have a new patient and never told me the side effects of my birth control. It really seems like they just rush to get you out of there asap. I wouldn't trust him with my birth control let alone anything more serious. If you're considering going to Dr Tam, I hope you take all of the other reviews to heart because they don't surprise me for one second. And if you HAVE to see him for insurance reasons, be prepared to advocate for your needs very firmly.

He has been my OB doctor for years. He is very caring and patience. Examination was very detailed.

I love this guy. Been going to him since I was 18 and I'm 41 now. Best doctor ever. If I could rate him the best top rate score then I would do it with no hesitation. Best doctor in the whole world . Busy man though. But that's okay. Thank God for Dr Tam.

No one answers the phone.

Beware, don't go to Dr. Tam. A doctor is only as good as his office staff. Patricia is one of the most incompetent workers ever that answers his phone or manages his office. Twice I have tried to leave a message as they don't answer their phones and the voice mail box was full so you can't leave a message. Insurance and my Primary Care Dr. even stated that Dr. Tam has the worse office staff and that I should not go there anymore and find a new OB/GYN. Pharmacy has called 5x to get a refill completed for meds Dr. Tam put me on, I even made a face to face trip to the office to get this refill. I was assured they would call the Pharmacy to refill meds I need and after 5 days, they still have not done it after 3 phone calls, 5 pharmacy phone calls and a face to face visit. Next blunder, I needed a referral to get blood drawn, they sent me to a 3rd world area where they could not understand English, and spent 4 days trying to get blood work completed. Could not get the blood drawn through the referral lab his office sent me to, I had to call Blue Shield to tell them my problems, they called and fixed this issue by sending me to another competent lab. Blue Shield said the place he sent me to is poorly run and I suspect he has a business interest in this lab. Also, needed to get a follow up mammogram and the office that performs them stated to Dr. Tam's office that they needed to get a referral from my insurance and his office has to initiate the referral. Patricia strikes again and does not get one secured. Spent HOURS calling insurance and mammogram office to see if they could help me get a referral after 10 days. The other offices/insurance stated this was the worst office staff as they do not know how to perform basic insurance functions like securing a referral. The mammogram office said they would call and try to go around office staff and talk to Dr. Tam as it was acknowledged that the office staff was not skilled in their jobs. I can't imagine having a baby under this office and staff. Run away, as this office is not able to handle basic functions like answering the phone or emptying a voice mailbox or securing referrals or refilling prescriptions. How can you trust him or his office with a baby!

This doctor is the best in the world. Thank you Dr. Tam with my 5 kids. You saved my life

100% scheming scammer. Sent a final notice for some money we owe him for being in the delivery room of our first born baby 3 years ago. We never received any notices prior to that. Doesn't pick up phone, unable to reach him by email. Now the bill is with collections agency that is hard to trust. Don't deal with this fake doctor, he's just money hungry.
