Dr. Jackson has always been so kind and compassionate. You never feel rushed in the office. He really takes his time to explain everything. Very hard to find doctors like this that take their time. The office staff has always been so kind as well.

Dr. Jackson is caring, compassionate, he listens to your concerns and answers all of your questions. I am preparing for a total hip replacement which we agreed would get me back to my active lifestyle.

I have never waited to be admitted from the waiting room to a consultation room more than 20 minutes past my appointment time when I show up before my appointment. I have never waited in the consultation room more than 20 minutes to see Dr. Jackson. He operated on my left buttocks area for sciatic nerve decompression. It has been 6 weeks since surgery. Although I have not improved "yet" post surgical swelling has not subsided for me, in my opinion. In another month I hope to see some improvement. There are very few surgeons who are capable of performing this surgery. While removing tissue & fat that could be adding to compression he are very very close to arteries that if cut, could kill you. Watching the video he has very sturdy hands and I had full confdence in his abilities. Everyone is different and the body is complex. I had exhausted all other remedies after having suffered with inability to sit without some pain and after 15-20 minutes could not sit att all as pain level was about a 7.5 on a 10 scale. I could not go through the rest of my life knowing I had exhausted every possible way to find relief. Even if I receive no benefit, I would do it again to know I tried. There are surgeons who will shotgun and remove or bisect the entire piriformis muscle to relieve pressure on the nerve and free up space in this area. The success rate of that surgery as many others has not been scientifically tracked using a large pool of patients to determine outcomes. There is cost in performing such a scientific analysis and requires pools of several hundred patients yo be accurate. I have told Dr. Jackson he is free to publish my results and surgical video and I will most certainly follow-up with progress reports for atleast 2 years to help determine my success/outcome and during that time I will have no other procedure that could compromise the results. If my specific surgery does not produce any benefit during that time I will investigate more radical surgeries after thorough research. Many surgeries have the potential to make things worse, that is just a fact, regardless who performs it. I will update my results if allowed in this testimonial after 6 months have passed. I have had 5 surgeries on different parts of my body. Some like tendinitis of the elbow took 2 years to see a complete cure. Patience is a virtue. The only complaint I have is that I had a sore throught due to surgical ventilation for 2 weeks. I have never experienced this before. That is on the anesthesiologist in my opinion otherwise I have no complaints with the surgical team. I would recommend Dr. Jackson. I have not had a hip replacement by Dr. Jackson but feel if I needed one, I would trust him to do it unless I hear otherwise. Everyone must do theirr own research. Choising a surgeon who specializes in just 1 or 2 procedures and has been in practice fir awhile is likely to produce better results than some who claim to oerfirm orthopedic surgery anywhere on your body! Keep that in mind when choosing a surgeon.

Saw Dr. Jackson this week for the first time for hip pain. I am 54 and thought he'd hand me a script for PT. But, instead, he found arthritis. He did not futz around with PT for 6 months before recommending an MRI to rule out a tear, which is much appreciated. My MRI is scheduled already for next week. If you've ever had a tear in a joint (I've had three shoulder tears), you'll appreciate not wasting time before a definitive diagnosis. Dr. Jackson had very good bedside manner. He is calm, has a nice sense of humor and did not make me feel rushed. Nothing to criticize. I have the "great fortune" of having seen many different doctors at Congress Ortho: for a shoulder tear, trigger fingers, Morton's neuroma (foot), back pain and now hip arthritis. Every doctor I have seen has been really good, and I have been to other big ortho practices in Pasadena to which I can make a comparison (I'm looking at you Huntington Ortho and Risser). The feel of the waiting room is that of a mill, but the doctors are top notch. They have each been specialists in the particular body part in which I was experiencing problems. I've had cortisone shots in my shoulder, foot and fingers here all with expected amounts of pain, but not excessive (again looking at you Huntington Ortho). The doctors at Congress take their time and, like many orthopedic surgeons, they have a good sense of humor and have better than average people skills. It would be great to have some women surgeons added to the group, though I know there are significantly fewer women ortho surgeons out there. But they exist and it would be nice to have them here. The PAs I have seen for finger injections have been stellar (Julie in Pasadena is fab and Dr. Lin's PA in Arcadia, whose name escapes me, is wonderful, as well). If you've ever had a cortisone shot in a trigger finger, you'll understand the importance of this mention. The last thing I will say is that I am very impressed by this practice's measured approach to orthopedic surgery. They do not recommend surgery for every problem, which could be fixed with surgery. Dr. Shankweiler (whom my physical therapist recommended I see for a second opinion on my shoulder tear) told me that if I were his sister, he would NOT recommend I have surgery to fix the tear in my labrum. (This is the second time it has torn in 7 years). He said that in the last several years, more and more ortho surgeons at conferences raise their hands when asked if they would discourage people over 50 (and each year they drop that age) from having this surgery because the recovery is so brutal and one never regains full range of motion anyway at this age. He saved me a lot of aggravation. Recovery from my last shoulder arthroscopic surgery, ( by a surgeon at Congress Ortho who was ready to operate on me now again) at the age of nearly 50 was brutal. Instead, Dr. Shankweiler sent me for more PT and I am nearly pain free, with some limitations that I can live with. Don't be discouraged by front office staff on Pasadena's second floor who could use a dose of cordiality. The nursing staff and docs are great. Pasadena's third floor (hand surgeon's floor) staff and Arcadia's front desk staff are great. If your bones hurt, go to Congress Ortho. You will not be disappointed.
