Please save yourself the trouble and chose another doctors office. The office staff is incompetent. It took me multiple calls and voicemails to set up a in initial appointment with the office. The appointment itself was fine initially but they try to get you to come in for multiple visits for things that can be handled in a single visit. They don't have any sort of online portal to make appointments or to view lab results and will charge you for an office visit to share your results with you. The office also sent my lab request to the wrong company initially after multiple verifications of the lab company (that was in the same medical building as their office)... I gave in and ending up driving to another city because both front desk people are useless and at that point had missed my appointment. Now I am just fighting with them to get my lab results as they want to charge me a full office visit to get my results which is illegal. I only gave them a try because they were my auto assigned PCP.

Dr. Stephens is thorough and kind. He has bedside manner and though I have not needed him for a crisis, whenever I have needed him he has done his best to make sure I was taken care of. He is knowledgeable and an old school doctor. The kind we need to help educate and teach this new age doctor coming up behind them. Everything shouldn’t be diagnosed through a vacuum of technology. Thank you Dr. Stephens!
PLEASE for your sanity, choose someone else. They don't care about you.
If I could give this man less than one star I would certainly do so. I have spent the last two months in agony with what I guess is Pedal Edema but I doesn't know for sure and neither does he. His office staff is unconscionably indifferent and/or incompetent, they hardly ever answer the phones and never return calls, or if they per chance do call to confirm an appointment the dial the wrong number, unbelievable. I have had four blood tests and two sets of x rays and he still doesn't know what is wrong. The last x ray was completely wrong and did he apologize? Hell no, he can't be bothered. The two assistants he had filling in for him while he was on vacation were a complete joke, I could have done better. I am not going to recount the entire horror story but I am going to just fall short of calling his treatment of my case as malicious. Thanks Doctor Stephens, I wish you could experience for one day what I have been going through for the last two months. I will be going to the Medical Board of California
I moved to Pinole in 1995, I have been a patient for more 24 years. Dr. Stephens is a great doctor, he listens and orders test to see what's going. I do my follow ups and he tells me what I need to do. The staff problem belongs to the office manager. Complain to her.
the doctor himself is very favorable and accommodating. the only setback was the new system that made it hard to place orders 4 meds
I am writing this review because dr. Stephens is one of the best doctors I've ever met. my father has been a patient of his for many many years with changes and insurance changes in medication changes in his health condition Dr Stephens was always there. Even when my dad need house calls trips to the rest home. And last but certainly not least the doctor that looks the patient in the eye no matter how old they are he allows the patient to speak for themselves he treats my dad the way he deserves to be treated. In regards to the office staff I did notice a shortage of Staff trouble getting on the phone but there are some dedicated people in that office. One in particular Tony who also went above and beyond many times to insure my dad made a comfortable transition to Rest Home CareThe girls on the phone I know do their very best with patients in front of them referrals to write prescriptions to call in and the phone it can be quite difficult thank you girls and bless us Dr Stephens
Bad phone system that is deliberately not answering your calls. We always have to make appointments in person! Always says the phone system will get fixed but never does!!! Very bad for when you really need same day appts! Sucks so much when your sick!
The staff here is horrible. First, I dont know whos idea it was to cover the windows with white chalk paint and say do not knock on the windows and wait till someone assists you. This just seems so unprofessional and unwelcoming. I had a sprained ankle and I was standing and waiting there for the longest to finally have the window open up to someone saying oh, I dont work for that doctor, youre gunna have to wait for her with some attitude acting like I knew that. The office staff also talks to these older patients with somewhat of a sassy tone in their voices like theyre talking to someone dumb and have no patience for anyone and that breaks my heart. Way to ruin someones day. I have also left multiple voicemails but no one has gotten back to me so I have to keep on calling, which is hard to do because no one is usually there to pick up the phone. They are so inconvenient. Even my pharmacy left them messages to permit me with refills but they never got back until after 4 weeks after my pharmacist finally called and got a hold of them. I also have to be persistent on finding out my test results after they stated oh you shouldve gotten your results back by now it takes a week and a half. But its been over 4 weeks now. The nurses and Dr. Stephens are pretty nice and cool, but this office as a whole is horrible and needs to get it together.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
