Epic Care's Online Review Report Card

Stage 1 Breast Cancer survivor here whose post surgical procedure (lumpectomy) was follow up by therapies at Epic Care in Pleasant Hill, CA. Met with the Chemotherapy Oncologist who told me that my non-aggressive tumor did not require Chemotherapy. The Radiation Oncologist told me that I had received IORT (radiation therapy directly applied to the area of the tumor while in surgery). This was incorrect and I told her so. She insisted that since it was written on a piece of paper in my file, it was true. Wrong !!! I insisted and she finally got it. She also said that my cancer had metastasized. Wrong again - I told her she was wrong but she argued with me. Finally I suggested she speak to my surgeon since I am obviously a histrionic idiot. NOT !!! Bad start. But I was going to let it slide until my appointment this week with a new clinic on the East Coast where I now live. The technician, prior to my mammogram, read the file they'd received from Epic Care wherein it stated I HAD REFUSED Chemotherapy AND Radiation therapy at Epic Care. Wrong wrong wrong !!! This really pissed me off - Epic Care is still seriously screwing up with the potential to negatively impact my ongoing treatments, follow ups, and exams. This was way too much. Ummmm - the CO said I did not require chemo. And the radiation ? Thank god I'm smart, tenacious and outspoken. Had I not set the RO straight, she would have prescribed a dangerously small course of radiation for me. Serious screw ups. Yo Epic Care - I refused radiation ? Well how about those tattoos I obviously still have that you applied to my body in order to pin point the correct area to radiate ? How about the bills paid to you over the course of the 4 weeks of radiation I received ? I even saved the treatment schedule you gave me, outlining my appointments for the 4 weeks of treatment. And you report to my East Coast oncologist that I refused these treatments ? There is nothing Epic about your piss poor Care. A heads up to women who are sent to Epic Care: ask all the questions you have. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself. Do not trust that the doctors are fully informed, have the right information about your particular case, and never make mistakes. Your life depends on it. Mine did.

They never return phone calls. They sent the wrong prescription to my pharmacy - good thing my pharmacist caught the error.

The Epic Care Pleasant Hill team are so professional, organized and caring! Dr. Chichili is outstanding..., both reasonable and compassionate!

Tried to make an appointment with a doctor for more information on my blood work. Receptionist thought she was the doctor. After ridiculing me on my condition she told me she would call me back and never did……..good work I guess!!!

No one answers the phone. I've tried for 2 days at 20+ minutes each time. Apparently, they're too busy to make an appointment. They don't even deserve 1 star

I use to have the best Doctor there. He retired and now I dread my 2 minute phone visit with the doctor. I don't think they respect me or care about me or my care. Looking for a change.

Always late by at least 20 minutes. Doctors are through but wait times are ridiculous

Excellent facilities. Imaging and infusion center or in a similar place. Great doctors. I have been using them for 5 years.

My husband have been seen by Dr Lo at this office and we would to express our gratitude to him for being a great expert in his area, very professional, attentive and kind. His office is well organized and helpful.

My mother was diagnosed with cancer last year and upon recommendation from a family member we decided to take her to Epic Care for treatment. Although given the unfortunate circumstance I'm glad we made the decision for her to seek care here. First and foremost the staff and attending physicians are outstanding. The nurses and receptionists alway displayed warmth, empathy, attentiveness, and care. I want to especially call out and thank my mother's Oncologist - Dr. Ernest Lo. Dr. Lo was able to provide excellent communication from the onset of the disease, plan on the course of action, and status every step of the way. When the cancer advanced, Dr. Lo was able to to articulate what was happening and the different actions we can take. I feel like Dr. Lo made every possible cancer fighting decision possible while balancing the qualify of life for my mother. We really appreciated the level of transparency as we were informed where everything stood. We were educated and provided guidance when it was time to make the decision on end of life preparations. Throughout all of our interactions Dr. Lo was able to show care and compassion. The facility where Epic Care is located is very clean and kept up-to-date. With the pandemic going on extra precautions are taken to keep the area sanitized at all times and appropriate spacing provided. Parking is always easy to access. I don't wish for anyone for to have a need for this service, but if necessary, I would highly recommend Epic Care.
