Yen-Chung Lee's Online Review Report Card

A mediocre surgeon with conceited attitude and poor capabilities. Had misfortune to be treated by this doc for an appendix surgery during an emergency room admission. Multiple complications and visits required to remedy his poor workmanship. Absolutely not recommended.

Late last year I began having these episodes of stomach pain the pain mimicked labor contractions and they would go on for several minutes. I knew I wasnt pregnant and after a couple of doctor visits, some labs and an ultrasound, I was diagnosed with gallstones. I was referred to Dr. Lee and after his thorough exam, I was recommended for surgery to remove my gallbladder. Its been two months now and I have had no real issue with healing or resuming my lifestyle. Dr. Lee listens, which is so important, and he obviously performed an excellent surgery because Im doing very well. His staff is also super courteous and kind. Thanks to Dr. Lee and his staff!!

Flubbed my hernia operation and has to perform it again.

Amazing surgeon. Amazing staff. Dr. Estakhri is personable, confident, and actually cares about her patients. It is evident from the first meeting that you are not simply a file to be sliced and diced. I am so happy with Dr. Estakhri and her entire staff!

I am compelled to write this review for Dr. Lee as he performed a bariatric surgery on me. I found him to be a superb doctor. This is a life changing surgery and I did not want it going south on me. It took me about 5 years to finally go through this and one thing Dr. Lee told me that put my mind to ease was, It doesnt matter if you, President Obama or any of my family member is on the operating table, you will all get the same amount of care which is the very best.  The surgery did save my life and I am very greatful for Dr. Lee. I would highly recommend him for people thinking about bariatric surgery for both pre and post op care.

I have been extremely happy with Dr. Estakhri as my bariatric surgeon since the first day i met her.After struggling with my weight for many years, in huge part to my type 1 diabetes, i finally decided on gastric bypass surgery.  I met with Dr. Estakhri for an exam and consultation.  She took my health history and gave me an exam.  She was very professional and not judgmental, which is something i appreciate very much.  We discussed my diabetes and what she wanted me to do before having the procedure.  (Most people need to lose 10% of their body weight before having the surgery, but for me, we just wanted to lower my A1c to the 7% range.)  After working really hard at gaining some control over my blood sugars for 6 months, Dr. Estakhri and my diabetes doctor both agreed that it was as good as it was going to get without the surgery.  So we set a date!I met with Dr. Estakhri again before surgery to get my prescriptions and to go over the details of the surgery.  Naturally, I came with my list of questions.  She was very patient with me and answered every single question i had.  We discussed how to handle my insulin dosages the day of the surgery since im used to handling them myself.  We discussed what to do to prep for the surgery, what the surgery actually entailed, what to expect when i woke up and the hours after.  I dont think there was a single detail missed!Finally, the day of the surgery came!  It went VERY smoothly!  Dr. Estakhri checked in with me regularly and i went home after only 2 days in the hospital.  I then went in for post op appointments after 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and one year.  Each visit was very productive and positive.  We discussed my labwork, what i was doing with my diet and exercise, and then what i needed to do or continue to do.  My progress has been gradual and not as dramatic as some gastric bypass patients, but Dr. Estakhri was still very happy with my progress, as was I!  Today was my one year post op appointment.  Ive had issues with my blood sugar dropping during exercise, so ive been working on fixing that with diet and insulin control.  Dr. Estakhri was very excited to hear how ive started getting a handle on that issue!  Its a long term goal and she reassured me that even though it can take some time, its a goal within reach.  I had a list of One Year Post Op Reflections id written and she happily listened to each one.  I told her about my exercise (what i wanted to do, what i was still afraid to do), and what i felt i had achieved.  She was happy for me, and knew exactly what i was talking about.  I know she has gone through the same discussions with all her patients, but she still acknowledged my feelings and made me feel understood.I have never felt rushed with my appointments with Dr. Estakhri, and it has always been discussions not lectures.  She never judged me and always listened to me.  I had ZERO complications with my surgery and although ive come so far, i know i still have farther I can go.  Dr. Estakhri is supportive of my progress and encourages me to follow my plan.  Also, the staff at Dr. Estakhris office are all very friendly and helpful.  They know me by name now. :)  I have not had issues making or changing appointments, getting answers to questions, or getting calls back after i leave a message.  They are never rude to me and i like seeing them when i go in for an appointment.Anyone looking for a bariatric surgeon, I would highly recommend Dr. Mary Estakhri!

Dr Estakhri is amazing!  Not only is she a good surgeon, its evident from the first meeting, she truly cares about her patients and treats them with complete respect and compassion.  I was fortunate to find Dr Estakhri, after being disappointed with the arrogance and dismissive attitude of John Muir Hospitals bariatric surgeon and program team.  Im convinced my issue free recovery was not only the result of Dr Estakhris superior surgical skills, but the fact that she took the time to educate and address concerns.  She is well respected among many physicians in the area as well I was amazed by the various health care specialists who routinely sung her praises.  She is truly a rare gem!  Her Valley Care Hospital and Weight Loss Center teams in Pleasanton were equally as awesome.  If you are considering bariatric surgery  go see Dr Esakhri!!

Dr. YenChung Andrew Lee, MD, F.A.C.S saved my husbands life.  we will be forever grateful.  Back in 2008  , turns out my husband had deep vein trombosis.... not sure how to spell it.  Most everyone thought my husband was not going to make it... Dr. Lees  hard work kept my husband  alive.  While my husband was in the hospital.. I would often visit or stay all night and I would see Dr. Lees car in the parking lot late at night and be right back before the sun would come up.. he is so dedicated.thank you again Dr. Lee.The Dan Lopes family

I am so glad my friends recommended Dr. Yen Chung (Andrew) Lee.  My developmentally delayed son was referred to a surgeon for evaluation of a lump on his back.  I found Dr. Lee to be friendly and willing to answer questions.  Dr. Lee took the time to reexplain everything to my son and listen to my son who speaks slowly.  Dr. Lee answered all of my sons questions regarding the tests.  I am grateful for the concern Dr. Lee showed and would definitely recommend him.
