Wonderful!
Absolutely He is kind and caring !!
Professional. Competent. Kind. Awesome office staff. I just had my second total knee replacement with Dr. Balikian. He was referred to me, and I am very pleased with his care.
All went well. I liked the updated look of the operating room compared to my first knee operation. I was impressed with the staff and their treatment of me in the operating room too.
Absolutely. Great bedside manner. Positive, upbeat and a great communicator. Answers all the questions and concerns. Fantastic doctor.
All my visits were fine, had to keep requesting care from the insurance company which delayed my surgery for over a year! Finally got approved for surgery, which is my very first surgery and over night stay in a hospital. Everyone took very good care of me. I'm recovering nicely and very happy! I have a bionic knee!!! LOL Thanks Dr. Balkian!!
Top-notch surgeon and great guy. He's been my orthopedist for 10 years. I have bad knees and he's on top of making sure I receive best care available. Dr. Balikian always has a path to the correct answer. He's easy to speak with and, more importantly, he listens to his patients. Best orthopedist around. Couldn't be happier.
Fantastic with pain free experience while in the hospital.....looking forward to using my new knee
Dr. Balikian is a great surgeon. I like the fact that he is a great listener and cares for his patients. I have had a couple of surgeries with him and have no regrets. I did my part after the surgery and all is well. My grandson needs surgery he broke his wrist. I am inquiring if he does pediatric ortho. That is how much I like him.
It has been 5 years from the botched Achilles surgery performed by Dr. Belikian and I am still suffering. He was above his skill level when he attempted to repair my Achilles. I take the responsibility and admit I should have done more research to find a specialized surgeon, but being in an HMO my primary Dr. gave me a referral to Balikian. His incision was over 8 inches long (most are 3-5 from what I have been told when talking to other Orthopedic surgeons) and within 3 days from the surgery I had a raging infection. Dr Balikian and his staff did not manage the infection properly and I went to the wound clinic. The wound clinic had me to an infectious disease Dr. the same day and for the next 30 days I had a picc line implanted to my heart in order to directly send antibiotics into my body. It took over 9 months for the incision to close. If you need an Achilles repair I hope you will research better than I did.
Dr Balikian has treated me for shoulder bursitis and knee meniscus and knee arthritis. He provided options for my knee while providing conservative care in the form of injections while I considered my options. I had a severe exacerbation and underwent arthroscopy hoping to avoid total knee replacement surgery. He has provided excellent care and is very pleasant, punctual and informative. I am pleased he is my orthopedic. Under his care, the shoulder bursities quieted down with cortisone injections.
Dr. Balikian is a master. He did a total knee replacement on my grandmother and we are going back in 6 months for the other one. This guy is a God among men in the operating room and his bedside manner is ethereal. He has a way of putting everyone at ease and is just such so pleasant. When he looked at the x-ray of my grandmother's replacement, you could just see him beam with pride at his flawless work.My family has been so blessed by having him as my grandmother's doctor, we are truly grateful.
My husband almost lost his leg due to bad care and nonsterile techniques used in Dr Balikian's office after Achilles surgery. He got a terrible infection that required debrieding every couple of days. I watched his nurse open a drawer with gloved hand then hand dr gauze that went in to his wound. We insisted he be sent to the wound care center. They sent him to infectious disease. Those two places saved his leg. Balikian would have just kept cutting as the infection ran wild !
Dr.B is amazing and his staff the Same ! I struggle with RA and Dr.Balakian and his team have always taken care of me with a professional and family feeling all a once.!!!
I was referred to Dr Balikian a month ago flat on my back from a pinched siatic nerve in my back. He and his nurses got me the tests I needed and kept on top of my care for me when it was very much appreciated to be cared for. Here I am one month later where I never expected back to normal. I thought at the time I was done for with the pain. They managed that part of things for me to reduce inflammation and help me heal. From a person whose never been in pain I am very grateful. I
He is phenomenal- amazing skill and wonderful bedside manner.
NEVER, NEVER go to this doctor!! He did a horrible job on my husbands's Achilles repair and failed to act promptly when a horrible infection set in. My husband almost lost his lower leg . We insisted he be sent to the wound care clinic who then sent him immediately to infectious disease. One month of IV antibiotics and 40 treatments in the hyperbaric chamber saved his leg!! I witnessed Balikian's nurse open a draw with a gloved hand, then take that contaminated hand and pull out gauze patches that then went into this gaping infected wound on his leg as the dr was debrieding it. I called her out on the unsterile technique and she said " I used my finger to open the drawer". Wrong!! You contaminated the gauze that just went into a wound!!! Don't ever go to Balikian and if your dr recommends him, have your doctor talk to other doctors and read his reviews!! Balikian is HORRRIBLE!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!
If you live in North County of San Diego, do NOT EVER let Dr. Balikian operate on you. Five years ago, while he attempted to fix a torn meniscus, he tore FIVE of my tendons, including my ACL!!! Four months of non-stop pain, I sat by a man at a sushi bar. As we started talking, he turned out to be THE ortho surgeon that EVERYONE told me about, after Dr. Butcher/Balikain. The #1 ortho surgeon is Dr. James Bried, Poway, CA After Dr. Bried, repaired the work that Dr. Butcher/Balikien did, I had zero pain, swelling or need for codeine for the first time in FOUR months.
Dr. Balikian analyzed my condition (using a very necessary and revealing MRI), and made a thorough evaluation of my condition He explained his findings; the possible options for treatment of my knee; and answered my questions and concerns . I feel he helpfully involved me in his analysis and conclusions. Of course, as the expert, his thoughts and conclusions etc. were basically dispositive. There are options for treatment of my knee that he explained clearly and gave me the relevant facts to make an informed decision regarding how to proceed with the treatment of my knee. He spoke directly and did not muddle his explanation with extraneous facts and opinions. Everything was done in a reasonable way. I must also note that my primary care physician, Dr. Meram, has been supportive and has taken actions that have helped to mitigate the pain and discomfort in my knee.
I saw him after an MRI on my back, I have had constant pain not only in my back, but whole body pain. He didn't read my MRI, he just read the written report. He told me he wouldn't touch my back with a ten foot pole, it is too messed up. He suggested shots (I don't think they would help since I have all over body pain) and excercize (I did have six months of pysical therapy which didn't help) He showed no compassion, I had the feeling he just wanted to get rid of me as quickly as possible. He seems to be the only Dr. who has been trained in problems such as mine, and so I get no help except pain pills. I would like someone to take the time to explain to me what I can and cannot do in order to protect my spine from further collapse.
