Terrific Doctor! Hi, I was referred by my doctor to see Dr.Rao for fibromyalgia pain. Everytime I go in she is quick but very thorough & explains everything very well. She always asks if I have any questions & if I understand everything she has said. She doesn’t sugar coat things. If I need to be told not to do something or for instance if someone would lie to her she would be quick to tell them that it seems like they are lying and or show proof of how she knows that. I guess what I’m trying to say is that people get spoiled and babied these days by everyone around us and don’t like to be told the truth a lot of times. People like to be babied and pampered and they’re not used to someone being direct and to the point. She is a great doctor and really cares about what I’m going through and how I’m feeling. She changes my medication‘s around to benefit me and goes by how I’m feeling.. I recently had multiple other symptoms & she sent me to the lab right away to find out what was going on. She cares.
Condescending and Incompetent Dr. Rao treated my mother and handicapped brother. She was condescending in conversation, consistently saying 'can you understand' when explaining things, as if we were imbeciles. With my handicapped brother, she was downright bigoted. More importantly, she misdiagnosed my mother with Lupus and my brother with Sjogren's Disease. In both cases, she prescribed unnecessary medicine, which had side effects. When I got involved and saw her behavior, I took them both to a more competent doctor who discovered the misdiagnoses and discontinued the medication.
Dr Rao will talk down to you and discard your disability because she has seen patients she says that are “worse off”. She actually said if your not over 57 or wheelchair bound she will not consider you as having a disability. It will take months to get in to see her if you need her and then she will blame you for not taking care of your health. Would not recommend this doctor to anyone.
She quit on me! I will have to update with the whole story later but she essentially quit on me. She diagnosed me with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis and when I began to inquire about how my hypermobility and/connective tissue issues might be linked to something more and she abruptly told me she couldn’t help me with my care and referred me out to someone else. My first appointment was over an hour late and my follow up she quit. She totally wasted my time and energy. I’m not sure how she sleeps at night know she gives less than to her medi-cal patients. She has clearly lost her passion .
Dr. Rao listens, explains, and seems very caring. This is refreshing as not many doctors seem to care about their patients.
Falsely diagnosed my arthritis as Rheumatoid. Months of methotrexate and Humira injections later, I got a second opinion. Labs show no signs of inflammation or Rheumatoid Factor. Do not trust Dr. Soumya Rao to diagnose your RA. I found a reputable arthritis specialist who is now treating my osteo arthritis and I am FINALLY getting some relief.
Thankfully, my pharmacist caught her mistake when she prescribed two meds that shouldn't be mixed. In appointments, she was condescending and seemingly unaware of my health history, even of things we'd discussed in previous visits. Prescribed lots of drugs. Felt like a guinea pig. Slept for nearly two days when I took two other new prescriptions. My own Google search revealed the two drugs have a strong interaction. Will never, ever, go back.
I was supposed to have my first appointment with Dr. Rao today, when I showed up for the appointment, 15 minutes early, the very unapologetic receptionist informed me that I could not be seen, there was no explanation or apology. If I had not shown up, I would be charged a fee, but it's okay for a doctor to just not inform me that she can't make the appointment?!? I will not be returning to see this doctor, and so far ARCH health has been a total nightmare.
Excellent! physician. Worked on my behalf to secure appropriate treatment for my progressive condition. Thank you and your staff.
Dr. Rao is amazing! She is very sweet and kind. She is very knowledgeable and compassionate about the care she provides you. She's very friendly, courteousness and spends the time necessary to listen. I'm glad I was referred to her and I trust her with my medical decisions.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
