Christian D Becker's Online Review Report Card

I have been going to Dr. Becker for a number of years. I have always been treated with the utmost respect and professionalism. Three years ago, I found a lump in my breast. She and her staff rushed me in and did what was needed to get me treatment. She personally called me a number of times to check on my status. No other doctor has ever done that. I normally go in once or twice a year. She and her staff are great!

First time meeting with Dr. Becker, and she is extremely personable and through in her exam. They have good mini lab on the premises, so they can handle some routine work there without aving to go to the hospital to have your labs drawn. She has a long-time nurse an dthey know each other's styles well, so the nurse can answer many questiosn without having to run out to ask the MD. I felt like she was touching on what I needed to tell her, and she even ends the interview with a great summary and allows for you to discuss anything that may have not been covered in the standard interview. Only drawn back for me is the outdated office, they do not do electronic records, which is not a big concern for me, but it may become an issue if you need your records to a hospital on the weekend. FYI: She doen't do GYN exams so you do have to go to a GYN specific MD for that.

Waste of time and money. with my former Dr. of Internal Medicine joining a boutique medicine group, i got cc of all my files for my initial visit with Dr. Becker. My annual physical is covered in my BCBS premiums. As part of her new patient writeup, Dr. Becker asked me to get my labwork done that day. Because i had had an unusually large breakfast, i asked to return the next day, but she insisted. Didn't realize the labwork was going to be done in her office. In rolled an EKG machine....told them i didn't think an EKG was covered in my annual physical...totally ignored. Shocker was when i went to exit. there was a lady at a desk at the Exit Door who demanded I pay $140 (which i charged). i told her i had never paid extra for my annual physical. she stated this was a new patient fee covering follow up on the labs and made some comment that it might be refunded depending on my BCBS coverage. Very odd, since they'd pre-checked with BCBS before i ever came into their office...we both wanted to insure it was covered. Received BCBS EOB..... Becker's charges were DOUBLE what my previous dr. charged and, in addition to the $140 i'd had to charge before leaving after my first visit, about $300 was owing from me. Numerous talks with BCBS revealed that Becker's office had coded my visit not as a physical but as an appointment re a specific health condition. Came to find out that this makes a LOT more $$$ for the doctor than billing as an annual physical. When I called Becker's office with follow-on questions about my lab results, was told i'd need to schedule an appt. -- more out of pocket. my previous dr. personally returned phone calls... never required a second office visit. Repeatedly contacted Becker's office trying to understand what benefit i derived from the $140 and why my visit was coded as something else when i had SPECIFICALLY and in advance said it was my annual physical....i have NO new conditions. 2 weeks later got a letter from Becker that she was dismissing me as a patient. So now i have to find another dr. b/c i have only days left of my prescription meds. more time, more $$$. surprisingly, BCBS paid the 2nd physical 3 months later. my new dr. couldn't understand why i was so emphatic that this was to be billed as my annual physical. this dr. billed as my previous dr. had. Becker was the only doctor who billed differently. This creates a very awkward relationship with the patient. Terrible experience; deceptive practices

Dr. Becker is an unethical physician that is more concerned with having you come in as much as possible so she can bill your insurance as much as possible. I have uncontrolled high blood pressure and I am on medication for it. I lost my prescription and called Becker's office to get a refill. She refused to fill my prescription unless I came in for a visit (that she could bill for of course). So there I was with no medication at all and very high blood pressure, and my appointment was several days away. I could have had a stroke because of it. Her excuse for me having to come in was so she could check my blood pressure. Hello!!! Of course it was going to be high because I had no medication! A few weeks later I received a letter in the mail saying she was dropping me as a patient because I hadn't been returning their calls. Apparently she wanted me to come in because she did lab work at my previous visit and they wanted me to come in for another visit because according to her, I have diabetes. After one test, where I wasn't even fasting, she concludes that I am diabetic. First of all, my work number changed because I changed jobs about a week after my visit with her. And my cell phone was disconnected because I got a new cell phone from my new job. So the same way she sent me a letter saying she was dropping me, she could have sent me a letter saying that she was trying to reach me. The bottom line is she didn't like the fact that I questioned her about having to come to her office so much. And regardiing her diagnosing me with diabetes: Anyone who has read up on diabetes knows that there are several things that could cause your hemoglobin A1c to be a little high. One factor is stress - and I was extremely stressed about my blood pressure. Another is supplements, and I take several supplements, and she didn't even ask me about it. I do not recommend this physician. Find another physician that is more concerned about your welfare, than they are about milking you and your insurance company for money.

I had to cancel my appointment to avoid a late charge simply because this office could not be responsible enough to do what they said they would do and simply have my health insurance in their documentation by the time of my appointment.Tammy, a receptionist, got flustered and offended by my question on if my physical would be free at this office like my health insurance states, and started going off on me about how Dr. Becker would only treat patients that would agree to any labs and tests Dr. Becker wanted regardless of any reason or the patient's finances, and for that reason she could not assure me the physical would be free. Then I asked her if I could refuse certain tests based on my comfort level and finances if I had to, she said yes then came back and said "This office cannot meet your "medical needs," and you should try somewhere else." When I asked her what this had to do with my "medical needs", Tammy got so short and rude with me that an office manager got on the phone, having only heard Tammy's side of the call, and started rambling and berating me about how Dr. Becker will not take patients that refuse tests. She also accused me of lying because she could not keep her timeline straight or explain away why her office was so incompetent that I had to cancel my appointment because they could not enter my benefits in the system in time. I would recommend going to a doctor's office where the egos aren't so out of control that the receptionist and office manager sound like rabid dogs on the phone barking at innocent patients for their own lack of competence and professionalism. Any doctor who has a staff like this cannot be trusted.
