This was my first surgery I've ever had. I had called to ask what anesthesiologist I would have for my surgery because I wanted to ensure they were in my network. I was told they wouldn't know who the anesthesiologist would be until the day of the surgery. After my surgery I received a bill for $1500 (for of course an out-of-network anesthesiologist). I then called the surgery center and the receptionist said that I could have "requested" an in network anesthesiologist beforehand and they would have done their best to accommodate my request. I was never told this when I first called before my surgery. I'm very disappointed and unhappy. I feel this could have been avoided if someone would have told me this beforehand. Now I'm left with a $1500 bill. This is information that should be readily available and shared by the staff.
