My severely autistic 3.5 year old child was brought into the emergency room for a severe ear infection/cold. We were told he possibly had RSV and they would run the tests. My child was discharged with liquid medication. We attempted to give our severely autistic child the medicine but unfortunately he is very picky and wouldn't take it no matter how hard we tried. We called the hospital back that evening when it was clear my child wasn't going to take his antibiotcs. We were met with an extremely nasty, uneducated women. She questioned why we didnt just put his medicine in apple sauce. We explained he has autism and has food and texture aversions, it was especially worse cause he wasn't feeling well. Not to mention my child doesn't even use silverware, he eats with his hands. Her response was to ask what he would eat and we explained chips. That was all that child was eating and it's something his therapists are working on, I mentioned this to the rude lady. her response "well kids cant just live off chips." my husband tried to further explain that she didnt understand, this is very common for autistic children to have eating sensitivities. She then gave us the option to have my husband physically hold our child down while he had a slow flowing IV go through him. I told her that we had to sedate our child just for a dentist to see his teeth, our child does not follow directions. He will not just sit there. I told her he would literally be fighting the entire time and how that's a liability, there has to be something else they can do for this child. Instead of offering ear drops or a shot which I know they have, she told me they would do the best they could do. I asked what exactly is that? it legit sounded like she was reading some form off a piece of paper but you never know! Some hospitals have sensory sensitive rooms, bins, some hospitals have employees with experience with children. i Told her "that sounds great, but what does that mean?" She then told me she couldn't help us. My response, " well clearly if the best you can do is have my husband physically holding down my child while he has a slow flowing IV, you can't help me." The next day my child developed a rash that spread across his entire body and started swelling his eyes closed. We took him to shasta community health who treated him extremely well and gave him 2 shots, one for the antibiotics and a sterioid for his eyes. Its beyond disgusting that in 2021 they have such nasty, uneducated people working at Mercy. Its been made clear on other social media platforms I'm not the only parent who has had a problem bringing their special needs child in. 0 out of 10 stars.
Had surgery here and they made the experience wonderful. My first surgery so not a lot to compare to. But the staff was amazing and helpful and nice. I recovered good as new.
If HIPAA is not even respected in their own employees, DO NOT EXPECT YOURS TO BE RESPECTED!!NO to mandatory v a c c i n a t i o n s for health care workers!! Where there is risk, there MUST be consent!!
I'm severely angry at my experience today at this hospital. I called ahead and booked a spot, and was never seen to a bed. I stayed for 6 hours. They gave me one bag of fluid and potassium after throwing up for 3 days straight. They didn't care that I still felt sick, and I sat in the waiting room for all 6 hours. Multiple seen after me. Shown to a bed. Livid is an understatement.
We went into the ER yesterday for my 10 year old girl who was having "like" appendicitis symptoms. Despite it being busy, they took care of her quickly. A nurse held my hand while my daughter was getting an IV put in her since my husband couldn't come back with us, due to having only 1 person with the patient since COVID. She and the other male nurse that helped us deserve a raise! Such a sweet atmosphere! Thank you to everyone who was there for us in a difficult time!
3/22/2021Another wonderful experience in the ER at Mercy. My wife has developed severe lower back pain and spasm following recovery from cancer surgery, chemo, and then gets two deep blood clots last month requiring blood thinners and anything we can do to get her comfortable. The clots are resolving but the back pain became so severe she wanted to go to the ER by ambulance. She just couldn't sit up.The ambulance crew and Fire Department were great. They could see how much pain she was in. At the Hospital I was told I could come in once she had a room in the ER. Because the ER was full she was forced to sit in a straight back chair in their waiting area. Remember we came by ambulance on a gurney because sitting up like that hurt too much. The nurse was treating her like she was just there to get pain meds. She told her she couldn't have any pain meds till they started an IV. Once they did, they gave her oral Norco...why the IV then? They decided since her pulse ox was low and she had shallow breathing they should do an Angiogram! Really, to do what, rule out a clot to the lungs? She has severe back pain. She is on a blood thinner. So you are going to try to do an angiogram on the blood thinner?! Wont that be a little messy?!I could only talk to the charge nurse by phone, again since my wife didn't have an official room I couldn't go back. I couldn't explain that her heart was good enough for a five hour surgery to remove a tumor at Mercy in Sacramento, the records are there at a touch of the screen. That she had low pulse ox then as well. Not unusual for her. But, I am not allowed back to be her Advocate.I consulted with her primary care and they also thought an angiogram was nuts right now. Deal with the pain. So we were discharged, picked up about the only pain med we haven't tried that you can take on a blood thinner, and will tough it out to start with a new Internal Medicine Specialist tomorrow. She is worse off now than before we went, all from sitting upright and not moving around for 3 hours. She was told she was not a priority. What is that new motto of Mercy again?! Yeah right...I understand triage, I am also a healthcare provider. But I also understand compassion. There was none happening here. Several other patients left without being seen for any definitive care.If I am the CEO of this facility, I start pulling personnel from other areas of a relatively empty hospital to deal with an overflow in the ER. The object is to get people out of pain, to be compassionate, to be an example of Christ:Dignity Mission StatmentMissionAs CommonSpirit Health, we make the healing presence of God known in our world by improving the health of the people we serve, especially those who are vulnerable, while we advance social justice for all.VisionA healthier future for all--inspired by faith, driven by innovation, and powered by our humanity.ValuesCompassionCare with listening, empathy, and love.Accompany and comfort those in need of healing.InclusionCelebrate each person's gifts and voice.Respect the dignity of all.IntegrityInspire trust through honesty.Demonstrate courage in the face of inequity.ExcellenceServe with fullest passion, creativity, and stewardship.Exceed expectations of others and ourselves.CollaborationCommit to the power of working together.Build and nurture meaningful relationships. It appears Mercy/Dignity has used all the write phrases to appease the Woke crowd, but forgotten they are A Christ Centered Care Facility First! As you can see, Jesus has been canceled from their Mission statement. Implying you represent Christ is not the same as stating it. The healing presence of God? Which God? It appears you realize that saying Jesus may trigger someone to not want to use their hospital...I'll give you some advice: it is not the snowflakes that come and receive care and then pay for it, it is the Boomers. We are ok saying Jesus...really come on Mercy, what would the Sisters say...I did not see any sign of Jesus there today! Funny, they have a lot of empty wooden crosses hanging around the place though, kinda makes sense now.
This place treated me at the Emergency like a number, in and out with a $1500.00 medical Bill, overpriced GARBAGE FOR A 5 MINUTE VISIT? I was Diagnosed with Shingles in a chair and litterally seeing a Doctor who just wrote a PERSCRIPTION AND SENT ME OFF. I requested to apply for Emergency Medi-Cal, they supposedly took info after making me wait 20 minutes? Nothing but 2 Bills! If I did not have good Credit, I would have told them to eat their Bullshit Bill! I WILL NEVER go to this Overpriced Hospital Again! They are working that Scamdemic LIE B.S. at full throttle for those Extra Taxpayer Funds for LYING! This place disgusts me. I rather go to a clinic with my health than this place...
horrible hospital, and if you do not have insurance, might as well rape yourself, bank account? they lie to you when you request for emergency medical being broke, pretend they apply for you, then send 2 seperate bills that are not clear. i asked what the bill was if i did have the money to pay before leaving for the total costs, they told me 1019.00 for a 10 minute check for a minor problem, not requiring any medical treatment or devices, etc... they wrote a perscription. then my bills came weeks later 1st ine was doctor 392.00, then hospital was 1096.00. i got screwed like i was a the motion picture hospital or in beverly hills at some prestigious private hospital! them! worst hospital i have been to in 35 years!
if you do not have health insurance, bend over, cuz they are sticking you deeeeep with not 1 bill, but 2 extremely large bills for just 1 simple proceedure, like 6 stitches. cut my finger, took 1 hour to see someone, then 2 hours for 6 simple stitches. the bill was almost 4k. use duct tape, wound glue, or seek a clinic, these people think you are rich and will bang you until your account is dry! never again will i go to this overpriced conglomerate, scamdemic siphoning tax dollars waste of money for help! drive to chico before heading to this place again, the staff in administration will lie and juice you when you get hone for the bills, yes bills, plural!
A young Native American Man came into Mercy Hospital in Redding, Ca in a midst of a psychiatric crisis. instead of helping him they worsened his mental health by having him arrested and now is in county jail facing felony charges. The Doctor's and staff were inept to helping him, and in callous disregard for his mental health. They should be held accountable for their actions. what does this say for people who really need help. Now are afraid of unnecessary issues with the law. What if this was a White Man, would the results be the same?
