List of Anthony Duk Md's Reviews
f I would’ve read the reviews first. At first, I was hopeful because he was an MD and Christian. My last psychiatrist had left so I was seeking out a new psychiatrist, and a reevaluation due to the fact that I was under narcissistic abuse for many years, and I wanted to make sure that my diagnosis was correct, and not due to narcissistic abuse. The first session went OK with Dr. Anthony Duk. I told him that I wanted a reevaluation, but at the time I wasn’t able to share much information with him ,so after our first appointment, I decided to write him a detailed letter about my symptoms. I emailed him this letter prior to our next appointment so that he can have a better understanding of my symptoms and of who I truly am. He said that he received the letter, and that we would go through it slowly together, at our next appointments. At our next appointment I let him know that I decided that I didn’t want to see a psychiatrist, because I no longer wanted to take meds, and that I already put in a request to see a psychologist who specializes in CPTSD for a reevaluation. This is when his practice turned unethical. This is when he began to tell me he didn’t believe I had bipolar disorder, but that I had a personality disorder, based on me mentioning in our last session that I self harmed a year ago. When I try to explain to him why I thought the self harm was due to CPTSD he told me I was wrong. He try to convince me, that self harm is not a symptom of CPTSD, but that it is a symptom of a personality disorder.. I repeatedly tried to convince him that I believe it was due to CPTSD and that I don’t meet the criteria for a personality disorder. The more I try to explain to him why I believed it wasn’t a personality disorder. He would ignore what I said , and circle back to the self harm.. I mentioned to him if he looks at the letter, he will see that I do not fit the criteria for a personality disorder, but the criteria for CPTSD. As he continued to gaslight me, and take me around in circles, not listening to a word I was saying, he kept insisting I had a personality disorder because of the self harm that happened a year ago. Being frustrated by not being heard, I ended the conversation with him. Even though in an email, he said we would go through my letter with me, he continue to refuse to even acknowledge it. I definitely would not recommend this doctor! See him at your own risk! What happened to psychiatrist having to record every session? Suggestion to all patient: Legally you can have your psychiatrist therapist, etc. sign or verbally agree in a recording to allow your sessions to be recorded, to prevent unethical treatment and false documentation. Thank you Dr for waking me up to this new possibility.

Has great experience with diagnosing would definitely recommend
Psychiatrist with his own agenda He appears in the beginning, to have great wisdom, because he says very little and is comfortable with pauses. However, with time it become clear that he 1) believes mentally ill people can choose their own outcomes, without medication, 2) is focused on pushing patients to create a stable structure, (which I am not opposed to), 3) is extremely sensitive to a patient volunteering what they think might help and tends to avoid a route the patient suggests 4) has a general frustration with patients who he believes are not doing what they should be doing, 5) makes assumptions about what patients are doing at home, even if told otherwise. Overall my experience was not positive and I am not returning.
Five years of care.Professes his love for God but became very belittling, arrogant. Hard to talk too. If this is his ministry you must have love, compassion and understanding. I'm not one of his kids and we are certainly not beneath him. The fine, expensive education and ended up a bitter, hateful man. Staff was wonderful though!
If you're seeking an adult ADHD diagnosis, I’ll save you some time—he won’t acknowledge adult ADHD. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been previously diagnosed, how desperate you are, or what steps you’ve already taken—he’ll cut you off and insist you just have anxiety and should take melatonin and magnesium. He doesn’t even listen to your story, because he thinks he knows better than you. He actually said "I know." He’ll also gaslight you, saying there are too many ADHD cases these days and that most of them are misdiagnosed. He’s one of those doctors who still believes ADHD is only diagnosed in children, especially boys. He also said he can't just prescribe stimulants. (There are non-stimulant meds for ADHD- but it doesnt really matter because he won't listen to you anyway.) I made an appointment with him several months ago, hoping to and try an ADHD medication. I had already been diagnosed before so I was pretty confident it wasn’t just anxiety. I just wanted to see a psychiatrist as soon as possible, and since he had a lot of openings, I booked an appointment. Long story short—what I described above happened. After only about 15 minutes of talking, he concluded I just had anxiety. He didn’t let me explain what I had tried or the struggles I’d been dealing with. A few months later, I saw a different psychiatrist and also started working with a cognitive behavioral therapist. I’m now taking Strattera, a non-stimulant medication. It has been a game changer, and I’m incredibly grateful to my current doctor and therapist for helping me turn things around. My daughter has now been diagnosed as well, and I’m gaining more insight into how our brains work. More important, my quality of life significantly improved because of the medication and the sessions I had with the therapist. Dr. Anthony might be a good doctor for other conditions, but for adult ADHD, I don’t recommend him at all.
unlikeable and not compassionate ignores details, does not personalize treatment plan due to lack of attention and what seems like care. inconsiderate of your individual view or life, rude, and not likeable. tough love doesn’t work when the dr. obviously doesn’t care
Initially seemed like a nice enough doctor, telehealth only yet only stared at the computer screen in front of him instead of engaging in conversation. Questioned me about life, pushed me to journal and read self help books every single session in the year i saw him regardless of me telling him that was not helpful to me. He emailed me self help content that he admitted his boss did not want him to send patients, then refused to prescribe me my medications unless i go into a higher level of care after i told him how well i was doing on the medications ive been on for the past year.
Honestly, Dr. Duk seemed alright at first. I've been seeing him for a little over a year now. I believe this man has very little compassion for his patients and doesn't seem to listen very well. Consistently discusses taking me off of medications or working toward getting off of them altogether, however, that is not at all my goal. He doesn't listen to the fact that that's not my goal. Quite a rude man and has made me cry several times during and after our appointments (all telehealth). He's all about self-help books, which do not work for everyone. Continuously pushes the self-help books and things of the like. Overall, not a very good doctor. Doesn't really listen to my concerns. I've only been seeing him recently so I can get my medications. Going to switch ASAP. Cannot recommend you avoid him enough. He is a fairly condescending person, not really positive in any way.
Was looking for a new psychiatrist after switching insurance. Had an initial appointment with Dr. Duk and left our telehealth appointment in tears at how condescending and invalidating it was to speak to him. I have been prescribed a low dose of vyvanse for two years with no issues and just needed a new psych to fill my prescription. Dr. Duk informed me that "well everyone thinks they have ADHD these days' and that I didn't REALLY have ADHD, I had an "inability to be in the present moment". He made the bold assumption that since I've also struggled with depression in the past, I didn't ACTUALLY have ADHD, my mind must just be too clouded with everything that makes me sad. Mind you, the entire appointment he asked me NOTHING about my experience with the medication, my symptoms of ADHD, how it has helped me, nothing. He also made the offhand comment that he can't be prescribing stimulants to everyone because they could go sell it on the street. The entire appointment he also made very clear faces of "shock" when reading my chart. I felt like the whole appointment was just him gaslighting me on my symptoms and experience and telling me that I'm wrong, regardless of asking me ANY questions about it at all. Extremely pompous and devoid of any compassion or desire to help. I was hopeful to find help and walked out traumatized from the experience. I am so glad I never came here again.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals.
