Avoid Dr.Thomas Jacob. We had very bad experience.
Don’t come here if you value your time. I waited over an HOUR to be seen and every single person who came in after me got seen before me. No one should have to wait that long, especially if they’re not going to accept appointments.
Incompetent doctors; overcharging for X-ray; unhelpful. I went there with cough lasting 1 month and saw a doctor who dropped a covid test vial, spilled the fluid and then later someone called me to go back and take the test again, because test result was not good. On the second day I went to see another doctor. I felt worse - but the guy told me to take an X-ray and sent me home with no prescription. That X-ray was $303.52 for me to pay. I had to go to another clinic 2 days later and got an antibiotic, which cured me. Bottom line - avoid that place. They will rip you off and won't help. They are really incompetent. Young doctors. Inexperienced. Arrogant. Unhelpful. And who charges $300 for an x-ray? Jesus! Don't go there. Avoid. Avoid.
My spouse and I have used UCLA in RB several times because it is just around the block. But only my spouse was treated properly, after being seen by three different doctors. I have been there four (?) times when it has been after-hours at my regular doctor's office, and every single time it has been a mess. One time, one of the doctors saw me for a specific condition and she charged me for a yearly physical, which, despite the fact that my insurance is great and covers yearly full exams, was not what she did. And I received a bill. And it took phone calls and emails and whatnot to get the doctor to straighten out that mess. I just got back from what I thought would be a quick visit as I've had heart issues since I was a teen and my regular doctor told me to just go in to an urgent care (UCLA is the only one left in the area since Covid), and the girls who took the EKG ran it nine times, because they didn't know what they were doing. After forty minutes of sitting and waiting, some kid came in and decided that since my EKG was "fuzzier" than the last one on file, that .... oh, he argued about chest pressure versus chest tightness versus chest pain versus chest ache. Over and over. When he listened to my chest he said "Well, no heart murmur," when I've had a murder since I was a child. He literally argued everything I mentioned, including the time of day. No, I am not kidding. This kid just, for some reason, regardless of how polite or clearly I presented things, needed to be contrary. Just say away from this place! It's fast to got inland a couple of miles to a real ER. I've lived in the area for seventy-some years and have rarely left a medical facility leaving worse than when I went in, but today? Talk about medical care in America going to hell!
Beware if you decide to use this clinic. I went there at two different occasions and had two very bad experiences: - My first visit was for my annual in September. I saw a nurse and a doctor. They did the typical blood test and asked me general questions about my health and medication while checking my vitals. Then they asked about concerns or anything else they should know about. Little did I know, I should not have answered! When I received the bill, I found out that I had been billed twice: one for the annual (covered by my insurance) and a second time for "Doctor Visit Level IV" billed more than a $1,000! It turns out that opening up on health concerns triggered the billing of an additional visit outside the scope of the annual! Aren't we supposed to talk about health during an annual? Also, no additional tests were made besides regular blood draw. Just a nice little and expensive conversation! The additional visit supposedly lasted more than 45 min. Considering that I spent less than that in the office overall, this is just a joke! Cherry on top of the cake, that second visit is not 100% covered of course...so much for a free annual visit! Avoid this clinic!!! - My second try was a couple weeks ago when I went in for an emergency. I saw NP Nicole Sanchez for a pain in my left flank. One urine test later, "not a kidney issue, must be sciatica". Despite the fact that I know how a pinched nerve feels and that I mentioned multiple times that it felt completely different and a pain like I never experienced before, I was sent home with some patches to buy to calm the pain ($100 out of pocket!). In the evening of the same day, I ended up in the ER, diagnosed with kidney stones (not a kidney issue you said?). Very poor service and diagnostic by NP Sanchez! Now I have to pay this visit at UCLA, the useless patches, and an ER trip. All of that could have been avoided with decent service and a minimum of testing. Again, avoid this clinic. A complaint was filled a week ago...still waiting to hear something back!! To UCLA Health customer experience, DO NOT bother answering this review with an automatic feedback form, REACH OUT to me and make up for your incompetence.
Disorganized Long wait. Rude staff at the desk. Not trained to handle customer service and sick people.
I’ve always been able to get in for appointments quickly at this location and staff has been friendly and helpful!
My physician Dr. curls and team members including all the physicians UCLA health Redondo Beach is to the highest caliber very intelligent found solutions made adjustments very friendly very patient willing to hear you out completely it is truly one of the best facilities for health care! I have had the pleasure of speaking with all the UCLA team from front desk to back office there are many Team players finally tuned and know exactly what they’re doing they are all wonderful. I just need to mention that because it is a great team! But I would like to see all of the UCLA staff and doctors specifically Dr. curls to be recognized along with her team! from my phone calls and visits you are in the best of care.I would like to See Dr. Curls’s and team personally to know and understand how valuable and appreciated to the highest level of medical care! thank you one more time because I am not in that building or the work place to do it myself. so I ask you please give UCLA prospect Redondo Beach recognition They deserve many thank you team UCLA
Use extreme caution going to this doctors office! You will be charged nearly $1000 if you need medication! I really wish I read the review of a user below (K Wat) as they had the EXACT same issue as me. First, during an annual physical the billing office claimed I asked non physical related questions. They wanted to charge me $400 for that! I luckily was able to have that dropped. DO NOT say anything to the doctor during a physical or they will try to bill you $400. I went back to this office again to ask for a refill of a medication I had previously been prescribed. It was less than a 10 minute visit and I was charged nearly $900! My insurance covered about half and I am left out of pocket for $450 for a 10 minutes office visit! Like the other reviewer, I thought this was an error, the billing office told me this is what they charge for an appointment needing medication and that the price is $800-$1000!! Totally insane! DO NOT let the UCLA in the name of this office fool you. I’d avoid this office at all costs as they are totally ripping off people and are non transparent about billing. Worst office I’ve ever been too.
It is really disappointing, and I really wanted and tried to like this office, since I live close by. One of the worst services I have received in terms of proficiency, compassion, and overall level of service. The urgent care service is so bad that you won’t feel any care and there is no sense of any urgency. A few doctors are good there, but our experience with Nurse Practitioner Michelle Sanchez was really bad that it is the thing we remember the most distinctly. Her lack of professionalism, compassion, empathy, and medical capabilities/effectiveness toward a family that is all sick was really disappointing and sad. When people are sick they need a compassionate person to guide them correctly, especially if the sick adults are caring for sick children. Her lack of basic compassion and medical effectiveness was shocking. I don’t usually rate places, and I almost never rate something that negatively, so the fact that I am doing this indicates that the service was truly bad. Also, there is this push from the office that you need to book more appointments (and pay more money and wait longer times - typically while you are sick) to get basic things done there. I hope this place improves and I know that young medical professionals might need time to know how to deal with patients more appropriately and effectively, so I hope this rating might serve as a wake up call for them.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
