The experience with the PT was good, however, the experience with the front desk during phone calls and financial office was bad. Just want to post here, please be aware when you decide to move forward with them. The key message is if you want to cancel your appointment for whatever reason, you are not treated nicely and fairly. Not to mention the staff answered the call with bad attitude. You will also be charged no show fee even if you call them in advance (it has to be within 24 hrs, even if you were sick the night before). I explained that my kid and I both fell sick and had fever the night before and called they immediately when their office opened the next day. The person could have just showed some respect and sympathy and professionally explained their policy to me. I may just accept the fact their policy was not made considerably. However, she replied the call said "why you did not leave a message for us?" Ok, for one, even if I left a message, you would not hear or answer the message until you went to office. For two, that was still not within 24 hrs because sickness occurred within 24 hrs and was unpredictable. For three, I believe the person answering the call was a mom as well, did you really think that it was fair to suggest that to a mom with a crying sick kid in the middle of the night? And, ironically, in the meantime, they can cancel it anytime for any reason. I canceled my appointment only this once just to be mindful so that I did not get their staff sick, they canceled my appointments about three times (for vacation, sickness and another patient) with later notice that I gave them.
Dr. Hannah took really great care of me during my 7 months of PT treatment there. There was psychoeducation around the recommended exercises, and the office staff were extremely friendly, approachable, and accommodating. The facility is so nice as well. It's very welcoming, clean, and organized. I always leave there feeling wonderful. I miss it greatly!!
I recently had reverse shoulder surgery. It's speaking with Dr Alton Ching, It was suggested that I do physical therapy prior to surgery to get my muscles in better shape. Surgery was done in August and I started post surgical PT in October. I currently have 95% usage of that arm and everything was amazing the team at Dr. Chang's office advance physiotherapy is one of the best I've ever seen has a A hands-on PT along physical exercise which builds in strengthens the joint. I highly recommend.
I have been to physical therapy a number of times through the years, and Dr. Thomas Tai at Advance Physical Therapy is by far the best physical therapist I have ever had. He is very smart and knowledgeable, and he is also friendly and approachable. I was experiencing significant neck pain, which did not respond to chiropractic and other treatments. Fortunately, my doctor referred me to Advance Physical Therapy. Dr. Tai did a lot of work on my neck and upper back, and also prescribed simple home exercises for me to do. Over the course of a few short months, my neck pain dramatically improved, and my neck is now virtually pain free. I can't remember when my neck has felt this good. It has been years. A few months after I finished physical therapy on my neck, I injured my lower back. I went back to Dr. Tai and he did an amazing job on my lower back as well. I have had lower back problems off and on for more than 20 years, and have had other physical therapists work on it. None of them were able to make it respond to physical therapy like Dr. Tai did. The physical therapy assistants (who guide you through exercises after the session with Dr. Tai) are excellent as well. The receptionists are very friendly. A great place which caused a lot of healing in my life.
Submitted an appointment request for the Palo Alto location. Never heard back from them, no calls or emails. I guess they don't want any new customers.
My experience with Advance Physical Therapy was very good and I would highly recommend them. My PT, Deanne, was exceptional and I was back to better than normal in a relatively short time. She was on time, spent quality time with me at each visit in a private setting. She was able to explain how my recovery was progressing and where specific exercises would help. She taught me how to take care of myself. What's also great is the exercises are all done under supervision of a specialist. They help with teaching the exercise, correcting body mechanics, modifying to fit your needs and keeping it fun. Most of the exercises I had could be done at home, so I don't need to join a gym with special equipment in order to keep up my program. The scheduling for visits can be tight, but they do their best to accomodate.
I called for an initial appointment and they were booking 2 months out. I asked if I should try to book an evaluation and follow up care but was told by the receptionist that it would be best to wait and book the follow up care after the evaluation. Well guess what? I go to the evaluation and am then told that follow up care is not available for yet another two months. I am beyond disappointed with this business and would advise all to steer clear.
Can't thank Thomas and team enough for their help in fixing up my knee. Now I'm able to bend and squat without pain.
Amazing caring individuals ! All of them are truly nice uplifting and knowlegable to help with any need, thank you to my team ! Thomas , Mark and Marcus and front girls are so sweet ready to accommodate find you appointments and opening the door with a big smile 😀 Thank you all . Also the others that I couldn't mentioned by name because I bad a names but appreciate everyone . Thank you really helping my recovery
Dr. Alton Ching and Dr. Deanne Smith are both very special to me, as professionals and on a personal level. I owned and operated a clinical massage practice in Menlo Park for twelve years, and I referred my clients that needed physical therapy to them and utilized them for my own physical therapy needs. These doctors and I worked in conjunction, communicating constantly and sometimes in person, to ensure each patient improved quickly or received the best care. Dr. Ching and Dr. Smith are skilled and intuitive manual therapists, much more hands-on than typical PT's, and they are always learning and adding to their skills. Not only has each doctor treated my pain from previous sports injuries, they have modeled, for me, their love and passion for helping people and for engaging in similar work. I HIGHLY recommend these therapists, and any therapist that Dr. Ching trusts to work at APT.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
