Very friendly.. expert. Explains thing well. Delivered 6 of my children.
Dr. Liu is amazing. I've seen him a handful of times and each time he spends a lot of time explaining things to me and giving me lots of alternatives before helping me think through decisions. His office is nice, clean, and there's never a long wait. The staff at the front desk are also very nice.
I had a great experience with Dr. Liu. I had a very traumatic birth experience with my first at KP that caused nerve damage and wanted to make sure that didn't happen again. Dr. Liu was highly recommended to me and I'm so glad he was our ob for our second child. He was always on time for visits and listened to what my concerns were and addressed them. He's very hands on and sets his appointments by himself and even called to respond to some of my email messages when i had questions. I had a c section due to my unique situation, he worked with my neurology team and together they made sure that I was safe. The recovery from this delivery has been very smooth and clean as well! He was extremely accessible when I needed him and this delivery was night and day compared to my previous one under Dr. Liu's care. He went above and beyond and even delivered our boy on a holiday. I highly recommend him!
Dr. Liu is extremely knowledgeable and professional, with great sense of humor. Honestly we doubted some of his recommendations, but it turned out that Dr. Liu was always right, he made decisions according to our specific situations. I highly recommend Dr. Liu as well as his crew of nurses. They are really angels to our family!
Dr. Liu is literally the best of the best - one of the best doctors of any specialty I have come across. He was super patient in answering all my wife's questions throughout her pregnancy and we felt like we were in great hands going into the delivery, which went very well. We wanted an OB with tons of experience and no BS, and Dr. Liu is exactly that.
I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Liu. I started seeing him when I got pregnant and I'm so glad that I found him. He was always on time for my appointments, caring, and I felt comfortable knowing that he's had years of experience. He was very patient and always took the time to answer my questions. I was most impressed with my hospital / delivery experience this past December. He plans his vacations around his patient's expected delivery dates and he personally delivers your baby. I learned that this was not the case at many other practices. I was scheduled for an induction on a Saturday afternoon and I ultimately delivered on Sunday evening. Dr. Liu was there through it all. He consistently checked on me and he was at the hospital all weekend. He came in to check on me late Saturday night and he left the hospital that evening after midnight after another delivery. I had a very smooth delivery experience and delivered a healthy baby girl, all thanks to him. I had little to no pain after giving birth, which I attribute to his expert work. I'm now 6 weeks postpartum and feeling great. I would recommend Dr. Liu without hesitation. I had a wonderful experience with him and he made it as stress-free of an experience as possible. I plan to continue to see him as my OBGYN even post-baby.
Review is long overdue... I've been a patient with Women's Care Group for over a decade. Originally I was with Dr. Elaine Chien until she left and since I just needed primary care and annual checkups I saw Marjan. This year I found out I was pregnant and needed to get my overall care switched to an OB and the word on the street is that Dr. Liu (who founded this practice with his wife (Dr. Shoup) and runs a legit tight ship) was THE doctor to go to. I wasn't sure if I wanted a male OB but given his reputation I scheduled an appointment. After my first appointment with him I knew I made the right decision. Dr. Liu has amazing bedside manner, knowing when to interject with golfing or sports stories to distract me during the exams. His experience and knowledge can't be beat (we are talking birthing a child.... you can't beat 37 years of experience... he's seen it all!) Most importantly to me was that he's a straight shooter-no-bullshit-type of doctor. He is highly knowledgeable yet when he didn't have the answer to a random obscure NIPT result question we had he told us he didn't know and would call the lab - most importantly he did and followed up with us with the answers. He worked with a maternal fetal specialist to help manage my high risk pregnancy. Any OB can do a C Section - but if you want concierge like service, coordinated birthing plans with a highly knowledgeable doctor that listens, get an appointment with Dr. Liu especially if your pregnancy isn't a typically smooth one. At 26 weeks I had pre term labor. I called him on his cell at 8pm after hours and he picked up. (Seriously I don't know of any other doctors that put their cell and pager numbers on their business cards... if you're his patient, he will be there for you. None of this answering service doctor on call crap in this office!!) He immediately directed me to go into Sequoia for monitoring and was checking out baby and I within 3-4 hours IN THE hospital. He managed to stop the contractions and I was released onto bedrest. Further more once I was home he followed up with phone calls to ensure that the medication was working properly and I was comfortable between my in office visits. 33 weeks I had sudden onset preeclampsia. This time I was hospitalized and the preeclampsia was serious. He was there every single day during my hospitalization overseeing my care and consulting with anesthesia/maternal fetal. In the end amidst my malfunctioning kidneys and plummeting platelets he managed to have me carry my daughter to 34 weeks 2 days, allow me to push her out via vaginal delivery (no C section!!!) and pop out a screaming healthy baby. Everyone I knew with preeclampsia all had emergency C sections... it wasn't the smoothest process, but Dr. Liu managed all the variables and proceeded to do the near impossible so that baby and I made it through the storm and I got to deliver her without getting sliced open. He has an engineering like thought process when he tackled my medical issues; valuing safety health and balancing comfort. When I commented that I could poop two days after birth without pain (TMI but seriously fellow mamas and mamas to be. That's is some serious worry we all had/have) he said it was because he stitched in a diff way than the standard OB textbook way. Each stitch individually vs a running stitch since skin heals at diff rates and now the stitches wouldn't be pulling on its neighbor.)Post partum he's managed my health and care and remembers my little one by name and always asks about her. He has been practicing for nearly 40 years and delivers at Sequoia hospital. From my stay there and interfacing with the nursing team, the Labor and Delivery nurses all highly respect him. That says a lot considering they showed restrained disdain for one of the anesthesiologists that worked on me. He has one of the lowest C section rates of any of the doctors that deliver at Sequoia - not an easy feat considering there is pretty much no work life balance when he has the goal to deliver 99.9% of his patients' babies. When I was in labor he was constantly checking in, he popped into my room to give updates and reevaluate "the game plan" as my condition changed hour to hour. He is not the type of doctor to show up once the patient is dilated to 10 to deliver and then disappear. My labor nurse even told me that he stayed overnight in one of the on call rooms the night before I delivered to be on site to monitor my severe preeclampsia. Definitely one of the most caring doctors I've had so far of any type or specialty. Definitely recommend him for any OB/GYN or primary care.
We love Dr. Liu! He really cares for his patients and always makes sure they're comfortable with everything. He took time to answer/ explain every question me and my wife had and even the questions we never thought of. Our baby girl was born with serious jaundice and he called to follow up with us several times to see if she's doing okay. He even helped us resolve our insurance issues. We feel very lucky to have him as my wife's OBGYN. Highly recommend!!
I highly recommend Dr Liu he is a Pro! I had to be induced and Dr Liu filled in to deliver me while my other doctor was out. It took me a while to get me moving but finally delivered a healthy baby girl. I felt like I was in good hands right from the start and you can tell he has seen it all. I unfortunately I had to get my gallbladder removed two days after I gave birth. Dr Liu would come visit me while I was in recovery. What love! He really cares about the patient and goes above and beyond. This Dr knows what he is doing and is a true all star!!
This review is long due. Dr. Andrew Liu is a terrific doctor - he's calm and very very experienced. He's also very responsive, he'd try his best to call you back as soon as he can if you have any question. My whole pregnancy including the delivery went pretty smoothly and I'd give credits to Dr. Liu and his crew! Thank you Doctor!
