List of Dorothy Shoup's Reviews
The best treatments I've ever received, from the front desk Vanessa, to back office Catherine, from NP Lindsey to Dr. Shoup. I truly appreciate this office, and so thankful for medical services they have provided to me.
Dr Shoup is simply the best at what she does. We could not have asked for a better gynecologist for our first baby. She is cheerful, full of advice and patient with patients! My wife had a million questions and she answered each -- some with anecdotes, some with robust medical advice in plain English - her experience shows! When it came to delivery, I was astounded by her attention to my wife's rapidly changing condition and her quick decisions that saved my wife a lot of pain. I fully and wholeheartedly endorse Dr Shoup.
Dr. Shoup has been my ob/gyn for several years and delivered my son. She’s the best and I trust her implicitly. She’s honest, always timely, and makes you feel heard.
Knowledgable and Caring - I have been gong to Dr. Shoup for 6 years now. I have found her to be professional, caring, and knowledgeable. Above all she will double check on things when needed. I highly recommend her.
Love Dr. Shoup. Successfully had a c section last week with Dr. Shoup, after a high risk advanced age pregnancy. The whole thing was during Covid-19. Dr. has been very thorough, supportive, personable, and apparently highly skilled. Great staff as well ( big shout out to nurse Natalie!) . I felt safe with the facility and went to every visit without fear. Dr. Shoup delivers at Dignity hospital. The hospital stay was awesome and way beyond my expectation. Very thankful to the whole team. Thanks Dr. Shoup!!
My doctor was Dr. Dorothy Shoup for both my pregnancies. She was prompt in preventing premature contractions which had left me with 4.00 cm dilated at 27 weeks. She did everything to make sure the baby wasn't out until its due. Complete bed rest, medications to stop early contractions, keeping psychologically strong etc.. It worked for both pregnancies. Boys weren't out until 39 weeks 5 days although the prevention of contractions were stopped at 37 weeks. They both came out around 8lbs and healthy. Can't ask for anything more.
She is so calm, knowledgeable, caring and soft that every time we had our visit, we were extremely pleased and satisfied by every mean. Thank you Dr Soup for being so nice to world.
Dr. Shoup was our doctor during our pregnancy (first time parent)We actually went to couple other OB-GYN before deciding on her (Mary Pravdin & Anjali Rao). Main reason being her experience, calm personality and closeness of her office to Sequoia Hospital (where she does the delivery)Appointments:In terms of busyness, she was in a nice sweet spot between "My doctor is always busy or out on delivery, can't get appointments" and "My doctor is always available. why no other patient is coming to her". Barring one or two anomalies, we didn't had to wait longer than 10 minutes for scheduled appointments. For scheduling, we usually just called their office(could never schedule on mobile app 'Standford Childrens') Our routine appointments followed fixed pattern : 'do weight/BP/Temperature/Urine check' -- 'do ultrasound with doctor' -- 'meet doctor in her office for any questions' -- 'Go to reception for booking next appointment'.Office:This is where I cut one star. Agree it isn't fair to review doctor for it's office. But since you will be there 15+ times during the pregnancy, it matters. She shares office with few other OB-GYNs. In fact her own cabin is also shared with other OB-GYN. Her husband Dr. Andrew Liu, also an OB-GYN works in same office. Office building looks & feels very old. There is zero sunlight in entire office. Patient rooms are very small and dark. Ultrasound machines are outdated. Office Staff/Nurse:We didn't had any problem with office staff.Delivery experience:When we admitted to hospital, my wife was already dilated and had painful night at home. While we were taking epidural, Dr. Shoup gave us choice of taking some break before doing the delivery. To this date, my wife thanks her for that option. Dr. Shoup went back to her office, my wife took epidural and slept for 3 hours. Once she woke up, we called Dr. Shoup to continue with delivery (having her office right next to hospital has its perks)Delivery was smooth and my wife felt refreshed (thanks to that break) for one final push.We did visit her two months after birth for post-pregnancy check-up.In closing, Dr. Shoup always had a funny story to tell to lighten up the mood (much needed after mood swings in pregnancy), calmly listened to our queries. If I were to be picky, we didn't like the fact that we had to ask her questions in order to get some (not critical, just useful) information out from her. Being first time parent, we were hungry for as much information we could get. But she wouldn't release it voluntarily.Still she was great doctor for us and we thank her from bottom of our hearts.
Been going to Dr. Shoup for years. Attentive and thorough. Brought a family member along for their first obgyn appointment ever. Made her feel comfortable and was very informative. The clinic the nurses are all nice and professional.
Doctor Shoup delivered our first baby in August 2017.I had Hypertension and got admitted in the hospital all of a sudden but she acted very quickly and handled the situation great. Thankfully am doing great now.I do recommend her .

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
