James Torosis's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Torosis is an arrogant elitist! This includes his haughty rude staff! My mother was once a patient of his, but she had to stop being his patient because he no longer accepted her insurance. However, my mother had to be rushed to the emergency in an ambulance for Pancreatitis. The doctor in the hospital called Dr. Torosis becuase my mother has no gastrologist at this time to replace Dr. Torosis.  Dr. Torosis told the doctor who was treating my 86-year-old mother in the hospital he would make an exception under the circumstances. Dr. Torosis told the Doctor to have my mother call him to set up an appointment. My mother called and this highly arrogant rude man in Dr. Torosis's office answered, and he refused to let my mother have an appointment. my mother insisted that Dr. Torosis told her doctor to contact him but the rude man in the office said he would ask Dr, Torosis  about this, and he would have Dr. Torosis call my mother.  Also, he suggested maybe they could make an appointment for my mother to see Dr. Torosis's nurse. My mother got a return call, but it wasn't the doctor. The phone call was another rude person from the doctor's office staff.  This lady told my mother, Dr. Torosis doesn't take her insurance. My mother explained to this rude lady that Dr. Torosis spoke with the doctor at the hospital and okayed it and to have my mother call him.  The lady said on the phone well maybe he made a mistake becuase he just hasn't taken her insurance in many years, and mother said she saw him in 2019, but the snobby woman said he didn't take that insurance then which is a lie. Again, my mother is 86 years old and that was lousy of them to do that to her especially at this time of an emergency. Dr. Torosis didn't have the guts to call my mother himself and tell her he changed his mind, or he wasn't being honest with the doctor at the hospital! What an absolute phony! Just horrible!

I had a colonoscopy due based on the report of my previous gastroenterologist following  a colonoscopy performed on Jan 31, 2019. I was planning to have a colonoscopy performed at PGI. I have sent this report for the due colonoscopy  to Monica, the assistant of  Dr Torosis at PGI who organized a zoom call in February 2022 with Dr Torosis to schedule the colonoscopy. The zoom call lasted about 5 mins and  we had an appointment set for the colonoscopy. Following this zoom call, I have received an invoice for the amount of $440. Nobody at PGI told me that I will be charged for that zoom call and the call was primarily focused on scheduling the colonoscopy. This is pure extorsion andI dispute this charge since the visit I had with Dr Torosis was a preop visit for the colonoscopy to be scheduled and part of the colonoscopy procedure to be performed. I do not recommend this doctor at all. He is more interested in making money by extorting you than taking good care of you.

Great GI doctor. Very pleasant staff and easy to make appointments as there are two offices. Great bedside manner and Dr. Torosis is a seasoned physician. Would recommend him and his office highly.

Colos aren't the most pleasant experiences but Dr. Torosis makes them bearable.  He is an EXPERT at difficult colonoscopies, like mine sometimes are, and I've never had a problem.  Am due again next year and having no hesitation since Dr. Torosis is my Dr..  I have them every 3-5 years due to family history.

Was rendered to dr for cramping and bleeding, he let me speak for about 5 seconds before interrupting me and then prescribing medication without a full examination. A week later, I followed up and the meds were not working. Per his recommendation, I scheduled a colonoscopy. After the colonoscopy, I had some major bleeding and was sent to the ER per the on call doctor. The on call dr admitted me and prepped me for a morning colonoscopy to stop the bleeding. 7:00am rolls around and Doctor Torosis is nowhere to be found. The on call doctor came to see me around 8:30 wondering if I had already had the procedure. Around 1:00, Dr. Torosis' partner came to check on me, she said I would need a colonoscopy but would have to wait until Dr. Torosis was available around 5:00. She then prepped me again for the procedure. At 3:30, Dr. Torosis came to see me, mentioned that he didn't think the bleeding was due to the colonoscopy and only felt "obligated" to do the procedure to put me at ease. 24 hours of major bleeding later, I was finally wheeled down to have to colonoscopy. Dr Torosis met with my husband right before and told him he didn't even know why he did he first colonoscopy in the the first place and that everything was in my head.This doctor has NO bedside manner, blamed the whole thing on me, and then avoided me in the hospital for the next 3 days while I underwent s blood transfusion, since I lost so much blood waiting for the second procedure. When I finally got discharged from the hospital, he made another comment that this whole thing is on my head.

I have known Dr. Torosis for over 15 years.  He treated me for my issues with my gastrointestinal and to preventive colonoscopy since I have history in my family of colon cancer.He is a caring and excellent doctor.  Really recommend him.

Very knowledgeable, pleasant, approachable manner, fully explains test findings and diagnosis. Excellent at colonoscopy and upper endoscopies.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Torosis and his team for my recent colonoscopy. He explained the procedure and the preparation during my office visit, and on the day of the procedure I was in and out of the surgery in an hour and 15 minutes! Very experienced and kind nurse Valerie made me feel at ease and started my IV with absolutely no pain. The surgical facility in Atherton is so conveniently located.
