EDITED TO ADD details I did not before.I had surgery May 30, 2019 to correct Dupuytren's contracture of my ring finger in my left hand. This MD lied to me twice. 1st, in detailing the result of this surgery in consult, and 2nd, denying it, saying he would never tell a PT what he told me when I had to see him after the surgery.I am still suffering with the same condition only worsened. I can't bother with details because, why bother? No one would (or probably did not) believe me when I told them he lied to my face. I AM 'bothering' because I don't care who believes me or not.But I know what I asked, what I was told would happened and the end result of going through with this.Even years later I am STILL upset (understatement) about what happened. I wouldn't recommend this guy to ANYONE after what I am still experiencing because I believed what he told me. If I could do anything about this I would with no doubt.ETA: When I asked this guy how long I could expect the result from this surgery to last he said, "Oh! 25 years...." I am sure he meant, oh, decades, don't worry about it, instead he chose this. I was curious because a friend had 3 botched surgeries for the same condition and both her hands are curled up anyway. He told me after this surgery only the very tip of my finger would be bent...as in, from my fingernail...I asked him to show me and he held up his hand and just bent the tip of his finger over. So, I was supposed to have a completely straight finger except for 'just the tip'. I was SO happy to hear this....I mean, thrilled and looking forward to having my finger work properly. (Guess what, it's still worse)in the paperwork from Stanford He stated ' after understanding the risks, benefits and alternatives we consented for a partial fasciectomy...' I'm pretty sure I would remember if we had discussed alternatives/risks... that is not something I remember happening nor would I forget if it had. After care instructions were misunderstood by at least 3 people I contacted about it, ( at the hospital and his office) and I started PT at least a week late because of the confusion... not that the PT helped at all..... Still very sad my left hand is so disabled.. Now back to not being able to shower properly with this hand, or do other tasks. Not bothering to post 6 pics of the before, during and after this mess. they are in my google review though.
I had a surgery today by Dr Kamal. What an oiled machine they have at Stanford outpatient clinic, dream team of professionals from start to finish! Thank you! Looking forward to perfect recovery.
This doctor is negligent, unprofessional, and doesn't care about his patients. Dr. Kamal did a surgery on my husband's hand which resulted in worse condition than before the surgery. On top of that when we stated that there is an infection in the wound, we were advised just to wait instead of checking it with the doctor. That infection lasted multiple weeks and delayed the recovery process. The doctor received thousand of dollars for this surgery with 0 interest in his patient's recovery and future hand mobility. I would highly advise consulting with someone else. He just doesn't care.
I have decided to forgive him. I do caution anyone seeking surgery for ganglion cyst removal to get multiple opinions.
If you like your doc to ignore you, send you on your way with no care instructions, or a recovery plan for your broken bones, this is the guy for you. But if you're looking for someone who will give you guidance, refer you to the necessary care to ensure proper recovery, and respond to your inquiries, look elsewhere. Dr. Robin Kamal had my broken hand splinted and sent me on my way with no instructions other than to rest, and that was information I had to pry for. As he left, he chuckled at his assistant "that was easy."Two days or so later, he finally told me via the myhealth app to get hand therapy. For over 1 week I have been asking his office for referrals for hand therapy and to recommend a place to go, as I've never broken a bone and have no clue what to do or where to go. Rather than responding, he has had his office staff send generic messages telling me to find a place myself. Despite having a broken dominant hand, Dr Kamal has avoided his duty to provide care. Clearly he doesn't give a s--- about his patients' well being to feel compelled to provide help. He simply wants you out of his office. Once you leave you're on your own; he never followed up, never responded to my requests, nothing. The only care instructions I've received have been me having to pry. BTW, the office wouldn't give me a copy of my x-rays and made me fill out a release form for myself to have them mailed -- with my broken hand, mind you -- it has been nearly two weeks and i still have no x-rays. The level of negligence from Dr. Kamal and his staff is a stain on Stanford's reputation. I've never been treated with such a lack of care by a Stanford facility.
I can't understand why Dr. Kamal doesn't have a 4-5 for all his reviews, he did great by me! I've been a practicing RN for 35 years & have seen many MD's in practice. Dr. Kamal met all my expectation as a compassionate & gifted surgeon. My hand & wrist are fully operational now after 6 months post surgery, & it wasn't an easy one especially for me post surgery! Prior to surgery he explained quite throughly my options & even presented ones that 2 MD's prior hadn't offered. I didn't feel like he rushed through the appt., but was patient & kind. To be clear I didn't expect him to be my friend just an excellent surgeon. It's true he didn't meet me after surgery but his assistant did & explained what transpired. I always felt well taken care of & had immediate responses to calls & questions via the phone app.I highly recommend Dr. Kamal.
Quisiera una video llamada con el doctor camal respecto a mi mano izquierda
Best hand surgeon in the Bay Area! I had intense thumb damage from arthritis. I had to have surgery. Three years later my left hand if pain free!! Now I need surgery on my right hand. There was a doctor only a few minutes from my house but I cancelled. I thought why not go to the best surgeon even if I have to drive a little bit to get there.. after all it is your hands ;) Finally, his staff and the entire Stanford group in Redwood City are fantastic too.
Save yourself the disappointment and money and heed my advice: STAY WAY FROM THIS "DOCTOR."He will undoubtedly give you false hope, order expensive tests for you, then meet with you after you've run up your bill, in order to give you entirely different answers than what he gave you initially!!! I had gone to Stanford initially with hope that their reputation would ensure that such quacks were not a part of their organization. I was very wrong and worse off for my faith in them. Don't be as naïve as I was. CHECK ALL REVIEWS AND GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!
I highly recommend him as an excellent hand surgeon. He has operated on both my hands recently and I had a wonderful and easy recovery.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
