List of L.A. Downtown Medical Center - Ingleside Campus's Reviews
Loved one ended up here. They keep you here for 10 days minimum whether you need it or not when you are supposed to only be on a 72 hr hold. They also over diagnose and over medicate. This is probably so they can justify the stay to medi- cal/insurance. This place is only here to make money. No therapy, no activities, one tiny group a day. No phone, no stimulation at all. How does this help??? Also almost didn't receive court hearing with patient advocate until Patient Advocates Office was contacted by family. Then the hospital quickly whipped a hearing up and they were miraculously released. Workers were all very nice. None of the situation is their fault. It's a system issue.
I had to stay here for a week after I was 5150'd. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. There was zero therapy, the nurses do not care about you or your feelings. I witnessed many verbal and physical arguments between the nurses and patients. I witnesses the nurses and staff be straight up mean and rude to patients for no reason. Many of the male patients would make me uncomfortable and one even kissed me without my consent. There was no one for me to talk to about how I was feeling. The closest thing I got for help were doing puzzles and coloring books. This place was hell and I wouldn't recommend anyone go here for any kind of help. If you were unfortunate like me and were forced to be there, you'll know what I mean when I say this place is shit.
This place should be shutdown i was there staff is horrible they talk to the patients disrespectfully i personally seen a staff commit elder abuse his name is kevin clients urinate and poop in the hallway they dont make them shower the a/c was broken for a week i was discharged 5/12/26 my property was stolen and i seen a worker with my black suede pumas on male staff be looking at females social workers and doctors are the worst ignoring the patients i was denied my heart medications among others they ignore patients thats crazy
Horrible place worst psychiatric hospital ive ever been in. I was a patient in 2024 I got treatment for my bipolar disorder, first off I only seen the my doc one time for about 2min via video never got to speak with him again second they over medicate all the patients and most of the staff there were so rude. The worst part was every time my dad called to try and get info on me they kept giving him the run around making it so difficult.
Been awhile since I last been up in this place even though somes changes of staffing and management it still helps out with their day iop program that is off the hook they be offering some great and unique ways to handle yours mental health issues
my son was abused here
Be cautious if you or someone you love is transferred here from the ER during a mental health crisis. Beds are hard to find, so patients are often transported late at night. Psychiatrists are never onsite (mostly Zoom), doctor appointments are infrequent, and nurses often give misleading updates. No therapists are onsite; individual talk therapy is nonexistent. Medi-Cal patients seem disproportionately sent here. Check-in staff is disorganized, management unprofessional. Some social workers are confrontational and appear more focused on justifying extended holds than helping resolve crises. Anything you or your family tell the “social worker “ managing your case will be used to against the patient to extend their hold. They want to maximize profit!!! Medication communication is poor; refusing unclear psych meds is documented punitively as “refusing medication,” which can extend your stay. Patients are frequently held beyond the initial 5150 (72-hour) hold—even with only acute anxiety—sometimes extended to 5250 (14-day) holds, possibly for financial reasons. That is illegal in California and violates your constitutional rights. Families may not be properly notified of certification review hearings. You’re entitled to a mandatory certification review hearing within four days of a 5250. Contact Patient Rights Advocates (PRA) immediately if your hold seems unjustified. Google PRA for California. Posters handing on walls explain PRA services, but they’re easy to miss in crisis and in extremely small font. At my hearing, the “neutral” hearing officer knew the psych wards social worker by name, the process felt rushed, I didn’t get to speak besides stating my name and I was held despite not meeting 5250 criteria (danger to self/others or grave disability). Family presence can help secure release, which may explain why my family wasn’t notified by the facility’s social worker —though my mom caught wind of the meeting and managed to arrive just in time. A few nurses were kind, but overall professionalism and transparency were severely lacking.Know your rights and contact PRA if needed. This was a highly distressing experience, I would never refer anyone to go here if they are experiencing any problems. Find another place. 0 out of 10 — I don’t recommend!!!!!!
Don't know much about this medical center but what I went through is totally wrong.my girlfriend was at this Medical center.they said that my girlfriend would be there for about 7 to 10 days once I was informed about that I decided I should take her some snacks I spent $50 at the market.later in the morning I took her the snack I called her in the evening and I told her I got her some snacks and she should ask for at snack time so when she asked the staff they said she had nothing ,so that means some one is stealing mostly a worker and the hospital wouldn't let me make a formal complain some one needs to get fired over this, cause Im sure it's not the first time.no one knows nothing and they back each other up.its not the food ,it's the principal that the food belong to a patient.im sure this happens more often and my case is not the first.i will keep on pushing this issue till someone takes the responsibility.if you didn't buy it and it don't belong to you just leave it alone.the staff makes enough money to get their own food.
I am deeply disheartened by the appalling care my son received at this facility, where he's returned in a worse state and faced with unsanitary conditions, underscoring the urgent need for its closure and a complete overhaul for the sake of future patients.
This place is very negligent. They have a fence next to a building. Well son went up that fence, up on the roof and jumped down and injured himself. And that's not all. He was taken to another hospital ,ER, to have his injuries checked. My son AWOL'd that hospital and was able to assault a stranger. I'm not saying my son is an angel, but he does have a severe mental illness. If wasn't able to climb up in the first place all of this mess wouldn't have happened.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
