List of Sierra Hematology & Oncology Medical Center's Reviews
My experience with Sierra Hematology and Oncology, specifically Dr. Virk and her office has revealed serious concerns involving patient safety, overbooking, delayed medical response, and unprofessional conduct that I believe put patients at a high risk of unnecessary poor outcomes and death . 1. Routine Overbooking and Unsafe Conditions During my visits, the office has been consistently overbooked to the point where terminally ill and medically fragile patients are forced to stand for 60 to 90 minutes past their scheduled appointment times due to crowding and a lack of seating. This creates an unsafe and inappropriate environment and demonstrates a prioritization of profit over patient well-being. 2. Unprofessional Behavior and Lack of Preparedness during my initial consultation I was referred to Dr. Virk because she was described as an expert in my cancer diagnosis: Oligodendroglioma, Grade 2. When I arrived for my first consultation, the office was already running an hour behind. After I was brought to the exam room, I waited an additional 45 minutes before Dr. Virk arrived. She had not reviewed my case beforehand and admittedly researched my condition and standard treatments during the appointment. When I attempted to discuss FDA-approved alternative treatments, she spoke to me with extreme condescension, told me to stop talking, and instructed me to “just repeat what she said” to my radiation oncologist. When I attempted again to discuss emerging therapies, she told me—literally—to “shut up.” In 45 years of life, I have never been spoken to by a medical professional in such a disrespectful and degrading manner. 3. Failure to respond during a life-threatening emergency (Oct 13–19, 2025) From October 13 through October 19, 2025, I was admitted to the Sutter Roseville Emergency Department with a critically low hemoglobin of 5.2 (normal ≈ 14). Over several days, I required eight blood transfusions while ER physicians repeatedly attempted to contact Dr. Virk for authorization for an emergency surgical intervention. She did not respond for nearly 3 days, as I remained in the ER awaiting her response. My condition was life-threatening, and despite multiple calls from emergency staff, I received no callback. My wife ultimately had to physically go to Dr. Virk’s office to demand action. Only after this scene—during which she emphasized that I was losing the equivalent of a bottle of blood per day—did Dr. Virk finally return the ER’s calls. Even then, she did not authorize the necessary surgery until the very end of her workday, prolonging a dangerous emergency unnecessarily. This delay was reckless, irresponsible, and far outside the acceptable standard of urgent hematological care. 4. Ongoing Risk to Other Patients Based on my experience, I believe the way Dr. Virk and Sierra Hematology and Oncology operate their practice represents a serious and ongoing danger to patient safety. Chronic overbooking, failure to respond to medical emergencies, lack of preparation, and openly disrespectful treatment of patients create an environment where preventable injury—or death—is a real possibility. I fired Dr. Virk for this, and highly recommend avoiding her at all costs, especially if your life depends on it.
If the cancer doesn't kill me, waiting for treatment might lead to death by old age. These idiots are consistently and deliberately overbooked and 60-90 minutes behind schedule and they refuse to answer the phones, ever. If you ever want to feel like a nameless, faceless ATM for the Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex, look no further. These people have no clue who their customer is. Every single employee is rude as hell and they treat me like I'm an inconvenience. They might actually be embarrassed about it if they had a clue. Dr Virk basically used Chat GPT to plan my care and treated me like a slow person when I wanted to discuss any options at all. If you want your cancer to be even worse, be sure to come to Sierra Hemotology and Oncology, Roseville. Make sure you don't have anything else planned though. These people do not understand who the customer is and they have no respect for their customer's time. They deserve less than one star.
If you ever want to be treated like a nameless, faceless ATM machine for big Pharma and the people who push their cures, this is the spot for you. they are always quick to get you in at least 60 minutes late for your appointment, but if you call ahead of time, they are not going to answer the phone anyway. But don't worry, they always take the time to make sure every patient feels like they are inconveniencing the staff.
First off I wanna thank and give a shout out to Dr.virk she's an amazing doctor. She cares about her patience and her staff. I'm gonna say this, but her name is Q but I just say Mo but it's Q and Tammy and Melissa and Margot Shelby but she's name is probably Shelly lol They're all amazing her whole staff. I don't know everybody's name, but the ones who take care of the people in the back who have cancer I pray that God will heal their bodies, but the people that are taking care of them back there. I know it's hard for them to do that but they have to cause they all are trying to make them better and I don't know their names but they other ones that are in the back with the patients showing them love and compassion and caring and they really are. I mean I'm real picky and when I went in there I said oh my gosh, and then I love it there Doctor virk she's an amazing doctor like I said she loves her patience thank you all you guys are putting up with me, but don't worry if you guys are new you'll get the best treatment ever and again I just wanna say thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God bless you as you guys are blessing these patience to give them hope for a new life. And I'm sorry it's so long. I was writing a book. Have a blessed day everyone
If you are in the look for a great team and doctor, please check out Sierra Hematology and Oncology Life can be rough and even when you are given the short straw of life their compassion is unmeasurable. My mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer 3 years ago and was told she wouldn't have long to live but hear we are on the other side cancer free. Dr. Virk is a god send Staff is pleasant, unfortunate is hard to get through on phone but they do call back pretty quickly Thank you Dr. VIRK
I've been to their Bruceville location quite a few times. I saw Laurie Bresee/Victor. (I guess she got married.) She's a kind and intelligent woman that took my health seriously. All of the staff I interacted with were also kind and competent. I have no complaints, and I would recommend them to everyone I know.
Not sure the front office person by nickname"Q" should be handling new patients. I am sure the doctor I wanted to see is kind. I don't call to get an oncologist because I have a cold.
This is a small place but it makes it cozy and if you want to visit with other patients and they want to as well, it is a perfect place. The staff are wonderful and very good at their job. Always smiles on their faces no matter how hectic it can be at times.
Knowledgeable and caring staff. Dr Virk and her PA are very professional, knowledgeable and expert in the medical field
I recently found out I have colon cancer and have started Chemotherapy. I am so grateful to have grateful to have Dr. Virk as my treating doctor. The whole experience has been amazing. The nurses are so attentive and friendly and it’s a very happy vibe. The team goes above and beyond making patients comfortable during treatments I highly recommend Dr. Virk ❤️ thank you for taking care me! Schrene Gonzalez

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
