This is corporate healthcare at its worst.15 minutes on hold to speak to someone about an appointment reschedule.
I went to the Primecare lab for bloodwork. The phelbotomist looked at both my inner forearms and without trying to draw blood said she was going to draw from my hand. I have had blood drawn successfully plenty of times from my inner arms. I know it's more painful to draw from the hand so I asked for the arm. She refused in a brusque and impatient manner. I ended up leaving with no blood draw. I definitely felt like she was having a bad day, I certainly hope she doesn't treat all her patients this unprofessionally.
My mother, Maria Gaona has had the pleasure and privilege of having Dr. Ashokkumar or Dr. Kumar, (as he’s more commonly known, by the communities that he’s blessed with his presence) as her personal physician for over 30 years. She first met, or we, I should say, (I always accompanied mom to her appointments) first met Dr. Kumar in King City, California. From the first visit until the most recent and soon the last visit he displayed a genuine interest and concern for my mothers health and I assume for all his patients. I personally would enjoy seeing the Dr. as well because he has this positive chi radiating out of him. He ordered yearly physicals, cholesterol tests, blood, bone, and several others im sure I’ve left out. The most important test he would always order her to complete was her mammograms. A few years ago one of those test resulted in a small cancerous growth in her left breast. Dr. Kumar immediately ordered her to see the surgeon and thanks to the entire Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System they delivered my mother to me cancer free in about a year, from the time she was diagnosed. Dr. Kumar helped ease her worries and fears by assuring her that he would be tracking her through every step of process. He is retiring very soon and my mother has a final visit with him in a few weeks, I’m looking forward to accompanying her, and thanking Dr. Kumar for making my mother feel like he was “her” personal Physician. He recommended and suggested many healthy habits that my mother still practices. He avoided prescribing medications, I believe she only had 5 or 6 different meds in the time she attended Dr. Kumar and a couple of them were for the same symptom. Thank you for taking good care of my mother for over 30 years. Have wonderful retirement Dr. Kumar you deserve nothing less.
I called to see if my doctor was on time and Julia answered the phone. Her voice is very welcoming and pleasant. She was very helpful and professional. Prime Care needs more Julia's on staff. Thank you for the great phone experience.
Yesterday and today I have called this office twice, yesterday I was on hold for over 30min! Never spoke with anyone I just decided to hang up. This is a very poor place to get in contact with your PCP. Today I have been and still am on hold for over 20 min! Still have not spoken with anyone. This place is a mess! I love the Doctors here but the system and staff they have need to come up with something better in order to serve us patients. This almost makes me want to change my PCP alone. A better system needs to be put into place. Seems like this place is more about quantity than quality, and that is very sad and upsetting. Wait times are horrible and staff is rude including the office Manager Kelsy. Two staff members were very helpful including an MA. These ladies were awesome Carina, Clarissa, and Julia.

If your looking for a General Practitioner DO NOT GO HERE. Terrible experience. went in with non stop lower abdominal pain, having had kidney stones years before this felt different and worried me. medical assistant ordered an ultrasound on Friday. I called Monday late in the day since I hadn't heard from ultrasound dr. office to schedule. thought my symptoms warranted some expediting. nope, the scheduler was backed up and hadn't got to it. left it alone for a day, called back Wednesday spoke with Melissa who asked me to bear with them as they had only one scheduler for all five doctors. Im still in pain, thinking the worst. gave it another day, called Friday later in the day and pleaded to please schedule as I was worried and needed help, she apologized and agreed five days was excessive. done deal, Tuesday I was set up for a 9:30 app. but I had to endure another weekend stressing myself out. The ultrasound was done, I asked the tech. if my Dr. would receive the results that day. answer: YES. later that day I called my dr. office hoping to get an answer. Answer: yes we've received the results they have been forwarded to your dr. , but he's gone for the day. Me: look I'm really anxious and stressed out can you please ask the doctor to get back to me. answer: Yes. Next day- nothing all day, I call again later in day. Answer- your dr. has the results but is gone for the day. Still in Pain. Next Day I wait till 2 pm and call again, finally I stress my anxiousness verbally again to the front desk.answer from the front desk: okay your results are XY and Z, mind you this was the receptionist not the DR. or Medical assistant telling me the ultrasound results. I was pissed asked to speak with the manager about this garbage ideal of a healthcare facility ( poor thing was two weeks new to the job) and agreed she walked into a shitstorm of an office. she conveys my message to the ordering physician, ordering physician calls me back and says she didn't get results till that day. WHAT!!!!!!! I let her know what I thought about my hole experience with Salinas valley prime care in Ryan Ranch, and I literally had to get condescending snickering feedback from a licensed professional about how I basically was impatient and thats how things were done in that office. STILL IN PAIN. you decide
Dr.K is amazing! He such a knowledgeable person who really listens to his patients. I am impressed with his knowledge and that if the nurses. The labs are located in the sample building which made it easy and convenient for me to get my blood analysis. The vampires (phlebotomists?) were also very kind. I was seen by a man (Jose?) who made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Overall a great place for most of your medical needs.
I have no problem with the office, med. asst., or doctors. BUT the folks who do refill stuff, GOOD GRIEF! I know the pharmacy does the fax for the refill, and they say never received it. I know its a huge place, perhaps more staff? answering phones also!
I made 2 separate appointments with a Dr. Lisa Kroopf at Salinas Valley Medical Clinic on Abbott, Orthopedic Clinic. She is listed as one of their pain specialists. Although knowledgeable, she was not at all like I thought a pain specialist in Orthopedics should be. Her manner was rough, she was rude on 2 separate occasions. The only therapy she offered were injections, a procedure done at outpatient surgery center and would not discuss any type of medication for pain management. She wanted me to do a drug test on the first appointment although I had been prescribed nothing. A baseline perhaps? She did not explain. She did give me names of 4other doctors which I found to be helpful. If you are looking for a doctor who prescribes a variety of treatment modalities, I would choose someone else. Not impressed. The Orthopedic Clinic staff were quite good and the facility very nice.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
