List of Aeron Wickes's Reviews
Dr. Wickes has been my Primary Care doctor since I moved to San Diego in 1990. He and his staff are always friendly, prompt, and skilled. I like that blood test and EKG are done in his office so I don't have to go to a lab. Dr. Wickes is thorough and has always knowledgeable in my care. I especially appreciate that he refers me to specialists as needed. Referrals for spinal pain, carpal tunnel, and other serious health issues have all been top specialists in their field, thus my health issues are taken care of promptly. Dr. Wickes knows my preferences regarding medications. He explains side effects understands my preference to not take some medications. He is not a doctor who just throws pills at me. He informs patients about diet and exercise, as well as meds. I highly recommend Dr. Wicks and his staff.
Dr. Wickes is the only doctor in San Diego that respects my right to choose. Really appreciate that. The staff is very helpful too. Also, they are taking great precautions in this new Covid era.
I owe my life to Doctor Wickes. He’s been my doctor for over twenty years. Always there to help you and assist you. God bless you doctor Wickes. Also best nurses, thank you Mary for always answering my calls and always calling to remind my appointments.
Went in to get treatment for different symptom, came out with prescription for entirely unrelated problem. Found it difficult to communicate with this doctor, wouldn’t listen and wouldn’t give referral to check with specialist. Wouldn’t suggest this doctor to any friends.
Dr. Wickes is very nice and very thorough. His front office manager, Mary, is extremely kind also.
Okay, so I have to update my review and provide a better rating. After posting my first review, I did get a follow-up call from the Dr's office after several days and they did provide my results to me, and sent them in to my insurance company as requested. I respect it when feedback is given and action is taken to address any shortcomings, so I increased my rating and want to thank Dr Wickes office for addressing my request.
I don't think I will come back after my second visit, not necessarily because of Dr Wickes but because of his front office staff. Some of what the other reviewers said I found to be true. I went to Dr. Wickes early in June for a physical. I've had several other physicals with other doctors and I can't say he was any better or worse than anybody else, but he did not spend much time with me and asked me some lifestyle questions that didn't seem to have anything to do with my health. While there I requested the front office receptionist to please fill out a form with my biometric results from my blood draw and send it back to me so I could submit it to my insurance company. I asked her a few times while there to make sure she understood since her responses back to me did not give me confidence she would actually do it. As suspected, I never received my results as promised and I went back for a second visit for a follow-up with Dr Wickes to go over my blood results. After a short discussion with the doctor about my results and cholesterol levels he showed me out of the exam room and then went into his office and shut the door, which I thought was kind of weird. I then asked the receptionist what happened to the form I brought in the first time and could I have it back please. She said she could not find it and did not acknowledge any ownership for it or apologize for not doing what she said she would the first time. Since I did not want to make a special trip again and take time off work I asked her if I sent her another form via email to her so she could she print it out, fill it in with my results, and then send it back to me after the doctor signed it. Then she then said the office had no way to scan in a document (really ?) once filled in and signed so she could not do that. She showed absolutely no interest in helping me, and every question I gave her resulted in either a non-answer or partial answer and it was really strange. It was clear she had no customer relations skills and just wanted me to go away, and took no responsibility for doing something that should have been very straightforward for a doctor's office to handle on behalf of a patient. Very frustrating since when talking to her she just didn't seem to get it and was not even friendly about it. Too many other good doctors in San Diego to go to so no need to put up with that.
Dr was fine. It takes forever though. My appt was at 2:45 but they asked me to show up at 2:15 for paperwork. I showed up with my paperwork completed. It's almost 3 and they finally take me back. Then I wait another 15 minutes. I didn't get out of there until 4. I wouldn't usually mind if they were super busy but there was one person ahead of me and he got called back around 2:30. No one else was in the waiting room! It's just very bizarre how slow the doctor and the office staff moves...
I've been visiting doctor Wickes for past 15 years, I think since 2001 and he is my primary physician. He has saved my life many times. He is by far one of the best doctor I ever had and he really cares about you and your health. He called personally many times to check on my health. How many doctors even have a chance to call you directly? I never know even one doctor all my life that will call you directory to make sure you are okay.
Had some pretty sever back pain a few weeks ago and the doc diagnosed me as having sciatica. No easy solution but he did give me some muscle relaxers to ease the pain. Some stretching, diet and exercise and I will be right as rain again. Thanks Dr Wickes!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
