List of Alfredo Quinonez's Reviews
The staff here are a bunch of incompetent people. The whale in gray scrubs can't mind her business. This is a horrible place. It smells like homeless and dirty "nurses" don't waste your time.
He is really a great dr and very thorough. I make appointments because walk in time can be lengthy. The nurse is amazing and he always entertains my son. Great at blood drawing! I like him because he has a personality and cares. He is my new dr and worth driving downtown for.
Every time I go here to Gaslamp Medical and Dr. Quinonez I receive excellent care from an experienced and concerned doctor. The service is quick, thorough, inexpensive and very convenient. This place is great.
Everything was pretty good. Had to wait a while, but otherwise, all was ok., But the best part was the office manager, Renai. She actually cared about us in the waiting room trying to make it as painless as possible. Once in the exam room the nurse did all the usual tests and realized I was in need of urgent care. When she informed the office manager, Renai advised the doctor who came to the exam room immediately. After I was stabilized, they made sure I got my meds, got home safely and even made follow up phone calls the next day to check on me. It was a little scary, but the entire staff made everything much better. No need to look any further for urgent care in downtown. Gaslamp Medical is the place to go. No doubt about it.
This doctor is one of the worst. Doctors ever will make sick disturbing sexual comments to his patients and then laugh I said I don't think that's funny he's said he was joking it's no joke I know suing him for sexual harrassment
I will never return to this place, even if its the only doctor's office open and I'm near death. My wait time was bad, but not awful. Only had to wait about an hour even though I had an appointment. But that was nothing compared to how badly I was treated; if you even can call it "being treated". After my long wait out front, the long wait continued in the exam room. I was having a stroke, my entire left side of my body was numb which I told them when I walked in and they still made me wait. Once the doctor, Alfredo Quinonez, came in to see me, he looked at me, pretended to care, wrote a prescription and sent me on my way. I WAS HAVING A STROKE!!!! I ended up going to UCSD emergency and got the care I needed. Luckily the only permanent damage is my left side eyelid won't open all the way. Then they have the nerve to send me a bill 4 YEARS LATER!!!! If that's not malpractice, poor customer service, and disgraceful office management and internal accounting, I'd love to see someone else with a better example.
Very thorough preliminary exam for new patients. Dr Quinonez M. D. Seemed genuinely concerned and caring. Thought provoking questions and a complete list of all necessary blood tests, urine and any additional test you may need. I am hopefully all will work out.
It's hard for me to read the previously posted reviews because they don't at all give Gaslamp Medical Center or Dr. Quinonez the credit they deserve. When it comes to urgent care and also being THE ONLY medical center that offers walk-ins in Downtown SanDiego- chances are you might have to wait once in a while to be seen, or you can schedule an appointment if your wanting to be seen more prompt. However, majority of the time my walk-ins without appts take less than 30 minutes from the time I walk in to the time I walkout, and my meds are already being filled if needed at my local pharmacy before I leave, CONVENIENT!!! Dr. Quinonez truly cares about his patients and it's very obvious to see. That is is why after walking in for urgent care when I came down with the seasonal flu, I came out with a new primary care physician. He's always very attentive to my needs and I've never felt rushed or like he doesn't care (even though I can be a little much and a hypochondriac). The whole staff is quite amazing; the girls up front are quick (from getting medications authorized, getting you info you need, and always trying to make your visit as thorough and convenient as can be.) Ron the nurse is not only hilarious but he really knows how to make your experience a comfortable and enjoyable one (enjoyable as it gets, depending on how you feel).Don't be fooled by the reviews that say nothing about the actual service and quality of the team and doctor who's treating you. Thank you for everything Gaslamp Medical!!
Avoid this place. It took almost 3 hours to see the doctor. I had a chronic cough and he didn't even look down my throat. Then, he missed calling in a prescription and the wait time on hold is outrageous. I won't be going back.
I had an insurance issue with the docs office, and although it took a while to get resolution, they resolved it fairly. The doctor is competent and the team is friendly.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
