Alter Behavioral Health - San Diego's Online Review Report Card

I was looking for a place to take care of my daughter while she was fighting her bipolar disorder. Alter has been a God-send. Their staff is incredible.

This place is awesome! All staff and nurses are very helpful and the care you receive here is second to none. Staff and nurses are very professional and friendly and they know how to help you. I would recommend alter for anyone. I feel so much better after treatment here.

The staff helped us when no one else would! In my hometown, we could not find any resources to help my family member with their psychosis, mental health, or drug rehabilitation. We were continuously told there was nothing we could do to help them while went in and out of the hospital. We are so thankful to Janelle, who worked diligently with us and got us an appointment at the San Diego stabilization unit. We are also extremely grateful to Katarena for her services and helping above and beyond! Everyone here is so helpful to provide resources and truly wants to help! My family member enjoyed their time there and loved the staff! We are so thankful!

Worse than aurora psych ward. This place made me worse then when i came in. The therapist gaslit me and made me feel like i was out of control. I will never go back there for the rest of time. This program has an excellent chef, but the groups were terrible and the the staff treated me so bad while I was there

After meeting with Bill and learning more about Alter Behavioral Health, I am truly impressed by their crisis stabilization program. Bill was highly informative, professional and was highly thorough in the services offered at Alter Behavioral Health. As a clinician in the field I will be utilizing their services and interacting with Bill was nothing short of being highly professional and client care is a high priority.

I am so grateful to Alter. They helped me when I needed them, and I will always remember the kindness and support they showed me.

Very helpful experience I gained a lot

Dealing with a mental health crisis is scary for your loved one and extremely stressful. Jack at Alter was an absolute savior. On a Saturday evening, he was not only responsive, he arranged safe transport of my love one from a ER in Orange County to Alter’s stabilization facility in San Diego. The entire team of clinicians, and staff was caring, and ensured my loved was not only safe but also heard and treated respectively. I was extremely impressed and grateful for the sincere compassion displayed by Ms.Ann one of their therapist. Also, Ms.Millie was so kind and caring! Additionally, Ms. Lorraine, the case manager spent significant time collecting medical records, and ensured timelines with disability, and FMLA document completion. I can not begin to express my humble gratitude to this team.

My son is doing much better after having gone to Alter. I'd especially like to thank NP Stacy D. for exceptional treatment and communication throughout his time there. I thought about giving only 4 stars because the discharge was a bit rocky, but considering the experience at other places, decided that it was relatively inconsequential. The staff was near-universally excellent, and overall it was a safe place for him to recover and improve throughout his stay. Good people and a caring environment. I'm glad he went there, and he continues to do well nearly 6 months later. My son has many negative opinions of other parts of the mental health system, but remains positive about his feelings toward Alter. I'm grateful he went there instead of other places. Thank you. I'll add that the home made and high quality healthy food is not only top-notch, but also indicative of the overall care given to patients there.
