List of Azam Shamani's Reviews
Dr. Shamani and her office manager Rosa are AWESOME!!! Dr. Shamani is a truly loving and caring doctor she shows true concern for my health and well being she's just all around great I've been a patient of hers for several years now and never had any issues!!! "Dr. Shamani your the best and Rosa your the bomb also love yall!!!"
Doctor Shamani is the best and most caring primary doctor that I have ever had. She is very intelligent and her medical knowledge and expertise is top notch. Her office staff are also very nice and provide excellent services. It is very easy to communicate with them , when ever we have a question or need a referral, it is taken care of the same day. Nowadays it is very very hard to find a physician with all these qualities who truly cares about patients.
I had the pleasure to work with Dr Shamani. Very caring and compassionate physician, she takes the time to address the patients concerns, either it’s one or several she makes sure the patient leaves the office with the necessary referrals and medications. I would have loved to work here longer but unfortunately I am relocating. The office staff is also very detail oriented and dependable.

Where do I even begin..I am really new to San Diego and wanted to find a caring doctor who I could trust. I came across this doctor through my PPO plan and decided to schedule an appointment for a couple of annual women exams. I’m a dentist myself so I’m pretty familiar with patient-provider interactions and have seen a variety of proper provider mannerism and professionalism to know what’s right and wrong. This “doctor” walks in without any introduction or familiarity with my health history/name/age and puts her gloves on, pulls me towards her very aggressively and starts forcefully doing the procedure. I was appalled/ so shocked at how she was doing the treatment. I started tensing up from how uncomfortable and aggressive she was and instead of comforting me she threw her equipment on the table and very rudely said “I can’t do this exam if you keep moving. I couldn’t believe her response. I told her I was gonna leave cause I was really tense and uncomfortable, she says “oh are you mad at me? Don’t leave you need to do the rest of the exam”. Disregarded what I said, and said she’d use a smaller instrument.Once the exam was over my whole abdomen was in excruciating pain, I just wanted to leave that office.I couldn’t believe that some people practice medicine like this, here in America.I suggest Dr. Shamani be more careful with HIPAA violations and mistreatments because it can lead to a lot of trouble.Overall this doctor is very unprofessional, very aggressive, and unethical. I wouldn’t recommend her to anyone, I’m sorry, I hate the fact that I’m writing this review but She’s lucky I’m not reporting her to the board. It really isn’t fair to her patients. It wasn’t fair to me.This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star.
This place is a joke
Unfortunately, I received the worst care experience from Dr. Shamani, despite her being very kind and friendly. To begin, I just moved to San Diego and needed to find a doctor, so I arrived 15 minutes early to my first appointment to fill out any paperwork. I sat in the waiting room for a total of 45 minutes. I wasn’t taken into a patient room until 30 minutes after my appointment and then it was an additional 15 minutes until I saw Dr. Shamani. In total, Dr. Shamani was 45 minutes late to my appointment (not including my early arrival). Dr. Shamani greeted me and was very kind, however, overall a bit unprofessional and very casually dressed. In the 20 minutes of meeting Dr. Shamani for the very first time, she diagnosed me with 3 brand new conditions (TMJ, High Blood Pressure, and Scoliosis)!!!!She took my blood pressure once (until I asked her to double check) and immediately prescribed me medication, without providing any real information about the diagnosis, medication, or alternative treatment options. I’m 22 years old, I can exercise or reduce my sodium intake first and if that doesn’t work, we can visit medication options. While we were sitting face to face, she also randomly tells me that I have scoliosis. She says she can tell because my one shoulder is higher than the other. I explain to her that I slept weird last night and have tightness in my shoulder as a result, she completely ignored me. She then proceeded to use my phone to take pictures of my back and posture to show me, and even had me bend over to check my spine, but there was no sign of scoliosis. I go to the doctors every couple of months and have never been diagnosed with scoliosis. Regardless, she referred me to a physical therapist for treatment. To her fairness, she did accurately diagnose me with TMJ. However, she was still unprofessional in doing so. She asked me to google TMJ (instead of her actually explaining it) and then took pictures of my teeth to show me the tiny cracks. She provided some helpful information on what foods to avoid, but overall was confusing and didn’t provide a clear treatment plan. She referred to a physical therapist and dentist for treatment as well.Lastly, she prescribed me my existing medications without any issues, and at the front desk, she told me to call the office a few days before running out to have them send in a new months prescription. This is totally reasonable as the medication is a controlled substance. All of this occurred during the 20 minutes I actually spent with Dr. Shamani during my visit.Today, one month later, although I didn’t plan on seeing Dr. Shamani again, I still needed to have prescriptions refilled because I work full-time and haven’t had a chance to find a new doctor. I called Dr. Shamani’s office and gave the (very friendly) receptionist my information to have my prescription sent to my pharmacy. There were no issues until the receptionist informed me that I will have to pay a $20 copay just to have my prescriptions sent over!!!!! I was astounded that I would have to pay my $20 copay, which is for a doctors visit, even though I’m only speaking with the receptionist to request a prescription refill. I explain my confusion to the receptionist and they inform me that every single month, I will need to pay the $20 copay to have my prescriptions sent to my pharmacy, despite not even speaking to Dr. Shamani, and that is in addition to the actual cost of my medications!!!! I was shocked and kindly told them I would just find a new doctor. I’ve never had to before and don’t understand why I would need pay a total of $240 annually for them to send prescriptions to my pharmacy. This should be considered insurance fraud!!!!!!!I’ve never been so disappointed and frustrated by a medical professional. To reiterate, Dr. Shamani was very warm and friendly, but made quick and incorrect diagnoses, had terrible medical explanations and reasoning, and is unnecessarily billing patients for prescription refills!!!
I was seen a couple of weeks ago..If I could give a negative star I would. I’ve never written a bad review but truly feel bad for patients who are seen by this doctor, including myself. My conscious would kill me if I kept silent and didn’t warn the readers.Just a warning that you might leave very very disappointed. I don’t know how she sleeps at night.Just some advice to Dr. Sham... If she doesn’t change the way she practices she will be hit with a lot of malpractice cases. Just sayin. Stay away. I will never visit this office again.I’m hoping she will change her act after seeing all these bad reviews, patients deserve a lot better.
She does not listen to you or your medical concerns she's very condescending and short tempered she accused me of having an eating disorder when my symptoms didn't present that , this place is very unprofessional

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
