Dr. Salem treated my prostate cancer. She is kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable.

I went to see Dr Salem because of prostate cancer. I am 66 years old. She performed a robotic radical prostatectomy on me in November 2022, at Scripps Mercy Hospital. From the moment my wife and I met her initially, we knew we were in excellent hands. She is a gifted surgeon. I am so grateful to her. Personally, I had excellent results. I was anticipating incontinence early on after the surgery, but had none. Furthermore, I have had no issues with ED. I realize my situation is probably unique and cannot be expected for every patient. I consider myself in excellent shape and have no underlying comorbiities that would complicate recovery. However, hedging your success with the right doctor only stacks the odds in your favor. At this point, I can't say I'm cancer free because I have to continue to monitor my PSA levels, that anyone having treatment for prostate cancer must do after any treatment. However, if your decision is leaning towards surgery as a solution, you will find no better doctor than Carol Salem, in my humble opinion.

I had a referral from my Primary Care physician to see a specialist--a urologist, for frequent hematuria (aka, blood in my urine). And Dr. Salem's office was recommended. On my first appointment, the staff and she took a decent amount of time obtaining a thorough medical history, including my medications, lab results, surgical and medical past and we even looked at a recent CT Scan of my abdomen and tried visualizing my urinary system. Dr. Salem's response was those tests were lacking more specific information--what did my urinary system look like internally. Therefore, we scheduled an in office procedure called a Cystoscopy which is using a scope to look internally into my urethra and bladder and ureters. And the result was...Dr. Salem needed to do further assessment. The next step is a scheduled biopsy of the spots in my bladder and unusual formation of the bladder I am an RN of 43 years and have gratitude for the meticulous thorough approach of Dr. Salem. I highly recommend this physician, Dr. Salem.

Dr. Salem has been my Doctor since I had kidney cancer in 2007. At the time, I didn't know kidneys even get cancer. After doing my research online, I chose Dr. Salem, and she has continued to have the best ratings and reviews! Thanks to her, her treatment plan, and years of follow-up, I am a cancer survivor. I did have to switch medical groups in 2007 in order to have Dr. Salem as my specialist, but even if you have to, you will be happy you did. Thank God for Dr. Salem and her staff.

I should have written this review long ago. In 2018, I saw Dr. Salem and she was superb, very kind, professional, and made time to thoroughly answer my questions with care and concern. Additionally, she is an excellent surgeon. I would highly recommend Dr. Salem.
