Dr. Hemp was very nice and helped me and my mom understand how complicated her surgery would be. He broke it down it simple terms we could understand. I appreciated that very much. He has a warm smile and I appreciated his honesty.

My son was rushed to the hospital 10 days ago and had an emergency surgery for an ascending aortic dissection with Dr. Hemp. The ascending aortic replacement and coronary artery graft construction surgery was a success! My son has made noticeable healing progress every day after such a big surgery. Beyond being an exceptional surgeon, Dr. Hemp has made himself available and approachable. We've connected twice on the phone to discuss concerns. His staff has been on the floor daily to ensure my son's recovery is on track. Our family cannot thank Dr. Hemp and his staff enough for their kindness, courteousness, and patience in taking the time to provide status updates and discuss any of our concerns. We are so grateful for Dr. Hemp and his staff who have provided such comfort and guidance during this time of crisis for our family.

I had a recent robotic mitral valve repair surgery by Dr Hemp and it could not have went any better. Throughout consultation, pre-exams, preop, surgery, rehab, and follow up appointments everything was excellent. I did my research and I feel that the decision to use Dr Hemp for my surgery was for sure the right one.

Dr. Hemp is a fantastic surgeon and treated my husband with the utmost respect. He was diagnosed with lung cancer and had a left lower lobe removed. Dr. Hemp's Physicians assistants were also very professional. His front desk is responsive and very friendly.

This guy is a fraud and crooked as can be. He illegally created a second opinion report; even though he never examined me, and gave it to Dr. Daniel Gramins of VA La Jolla, so to assist Dr. Gramins in covering up medical malpractice against me. Crooked POS.

Dr. James Hemp performed my triple bypass surgery in April, 2017. He did a superb job. His pre surgical manner was fantastic. He was honest, yet compassionate. I had no complications. I was very impressed with his post surgical removal if drainage tubes. Fast, accurate, skillful. Amazing. Follow up care was very thorough. Wonderful.

Dr. Hemp is a great cardio-thoracic surgeon. He is a true professional! Dr. Hemp performed my Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery and provided wonderful care. He also has a fantastic team, who are empathic and truly care about their patients' treatment and progress. I will be forever grateful!

I am a physician in Orange County who was referred to Dr. Hemp for a mitral valve repair. I met Dr. Hemp twice before surgery and once after. He performed a robotic repair of my mitral valve. He described the procedure and the likely post op course. I'm now 2 weeks post surgery, and I am so happy to have had Dr. Hemp as my cardiothoracic surgeon. I was discharged in 3 days, walking 4 miles at 5 days, and feel great. Technically, he's an outstanding surgeon, but he's also just a good guy. Easy to talk to, straight forward, dry humor. His office staff is strong. I worked with Angie mostly and she is so trustworthy and efficient. I'm referring my heart patients to Dr. Hemp. It's well worth the drive.

Dr. Hemp recently performed a robot-assisted lobectomy to remove a cancerous mass. I was back home after 3 days in hospital feeling remarkably well, a few interesting bruises and minimal pain. You may read that he appears to run late for his appointments - this is because he gives each patient as much time as they need to review all aspects of the surgery. He also has a really great office team, everyone we came across was friendly and helpful. Thank you Dr. Hemp
