The receptionist is super rude, lazy and unprofessional!! I would never refer anyone to this Dr, just because of her. My mother use to see this Dr, but complained each time she interacted with this ridiculously mean receptionist. For the life of me, I cannot understand how a Dr would allow his patients to be mistreated by his receptionist.

I thought it was just me but I see that all of you have the same problem, The secretary. I'm actually looking for a different neurologist because I have gone through everything you guys have specially with my prescriptions. If I ever have a question for the doctor has to be through an appointment and that's to much of a hassle and sometimes my question is not worth making an appointment.

The receptionist is rude, obnoxious, and mean. She messed up an appointment I waited 3 months for. She basically told me to go to someone else instead of taking responsibility. Then I did some research and found out this... Doctor was accused of having a part in his wife’s death. (Union Tribune) A prominent San Diego neurologist has been put on probation by the Medical Board of California for negligently prescribing powerful painkillers and sedatives that led to his wife’s overdose death in October 2003. Dr. James Grisolia, who was once in line for the prestigious and powerful job of chief of staff at Scripps Mercy Hospital, began serving the seven-year probation term last week. Among other things, he is banned from treating patients with chronic pain and must have his work rmonitored by another doctor, who will evaluate whether he is practicing medicine safely. The Medical Board filed its accusation against Grisolia, 53, in January 2006. The case was slated to be heard in September in administrative law court, where Grisolia faced the possible loss of his license. Shortly before the hearing was scheduled to begin, Grisolia admitted that the Medical Board could prove its accusations against him and agreed to go on probation. The Medical Board expanded its investigation of James Grisolia in 2006, when investigators examined more than a decade’s worth of records of patients who came to him seeking relief from pain. The investigation resulted in the filing of additional accusations in administrative law court. The board alleged that Grisolia wrote hundreds of prescriptions for other patients who were addicted to narcotics. I need a Doctor that will take care of me, not kill me.

He took the time to have a very thoughtful first chat. There was no sense of being rushed or prodded. He was responsive and kind, and he explained his thinking in a way that made perfect sense to me. I highly recommend Dr. Grisolia.

He's very nice but unfortunately I didn't get answers from him for my case and I didn't find him proactive in diagnosis. Clencher for me is he's impossible to get an appointment with. It's just him and a receptionist (who's kind of gruff)...no PA or NP. Had an exacerbation of symptoms while he was out of town. His receptionist's response was "go to the ER?" How about having someone cover for you in your absence or better yet tell patient to go to their regular doctor? Which I did and ended up at a different neurologist's office. Don't know if I'll be back to him, though he is a kind person.

Bedside manner-wise Dr. Grisolia is lovely. Diagnosis wise I felt like he wasn't the most thorough and quick to write me off w/fibromyalgia. In all fairness, my MRI was unremarkable but symptoms-frightening. However, he was open-minded. One major drawback is his office. He doesn't have a PA or NP. So getting an appointment is very difficult. It's just him and a receptionist, who is kind of gruff. I had an exacerbation of symptoms in between follow-ups. Dr. was away & receptionist's recommendations were "to go the ER?" I wasn't having a heart attack or bleeding out? Even having another neuro covering for him or telling me to go to my primary care doctor would've been better than that. At that point I realized I needed a different neuro practice. I'd recommend him, but with reservations.

Absolutely horrible experience. This guy doesn't listen and doesn't care. I am shocked that he's allowed to call himself a doctor.

I remember going to Dr Grisolia when I was about 12 years old, I had epilepsy... He was the best dr and always gave me a good understanding about my condition. I am now 19 and i out grew my seizures. Thanks to Dr Grisolia.

I have only seen Dr Grisolia twice, once in the hospital and once in his office. He is easy to talk to, making me very comfortable. What I was most impressed with was that he took the time to review and familiarize himself with my medical history before I arrived at his office. As a result, he had more time to devote talking to me about how to best proceed with my treatment. I think I am really going to enjoy working with Dr Grisolia
