I visited with Dr. McCandless office to get a cortisone shot for Osteoarthritis in my knee. He suggested that I should get a Gel One Hyaluronan shot and it would cost around $2,000. After 2 months of suffering, his assistant gave me the shot. She gave it to me in the muscle above my knee. After a month I had no relief from the pain so I called his office and Dr. McCandless confirmed that he gives these shots in the muscle above the centerline from the knee cap. My research indicated that the correct placement of the needle for this shot is paramount for it to be effective. Subsequently, I met with two other orthopedic surgeons who confirmed that the shot needs to be given near the portals or in the knee joint. His assistant has not been trained to give the shot and chooses the easiest place to give the shot and it is worthless resulting in unnecessary pain and suffering by his patients!! Apparently, he is lining up his patients to encourage them for knee replacement surgeries!!

I was greeted kindly and professionally by the office receptionist. A mask was required and offered. If I did not have one, I did. After completing my paper work, it was only a few minutes until I was called in to the waiting room. That medical technician was nice though a little fast, talking and quick to respond, almost interrupt my responses. I waited approximately 10+ min. for the doctor thought it was his PA. She was informative and thorough although very fast talking and not extremely personal. X-rays were needed and they were done right there on site which was very convenient. After being placed back in the room, the PA came back in with an assistant m and my needed services were done promptly. The actual doctor then came in for a few minutes to discussed my circumstances.

Dr. McCandless did full replacements of both of my knees (replacements of partial knee replacements). He did a wonderful job and I am very pleased. Prior to this surgery, years before, I saw him for my right knee. He said I should have it replaced but a partial might do. However, he didn't recommend it. When I decided to go forward, he was no longer a doctor in my health plan. The new doctor would not consider a full replacement. He did a partial of both knees and within a year of each, I needed full knee replacements. This is exactly what Dr. McCandless had predicted. By this time my insurance had another orthopedist available. He recommended I see a 'super specialist.' That's what he considered a doctor who did a lot of replacements of replacements. I was referred back to Dr. McCandless, who was now back in my network of care. Looking back, I could have saved so much time and pain if I had Dr. McCandless from the start. He was right on the money in his diagnosis. I recommend him whole heartedly.

I have not had surgery as of yet...Dr. Mccandless was a referral from a spinal surgeon I have seen over the years.. My first and second office visits were quite favorable. The Dr.is very patient and quite willing to answer all of me and my wife's questions about knee replacement surgery and all that it entails. He is fantastic. He explains the situation clearly. He shows interest in my progress and seems sincerely interested in and happy for my improvement. Also explained caution necessary with dental appointments and is prescribing antibiotics so I will have them available every 6 months. He also did a fantastic job with my surgeries and supported rehabilitation with referrals to PT and encouragement.

Dr McCandless replaced my L knee in January 2023. I’m feeling no pain with the initial knee replacement. I’m getting my R knee replaced in April 2023. Dr McCandless is very reassuring and an outstanding orthopedic surgeon. 100 % recommend Dr McCandless

Two Total Knee Replacements two and a half months apart. Very happy. After a couple of years of knee scoping, knee steroid injections and hylaronic acid gel injections with mixed results it was time for knee replacements. Very happy with the outcome and am optimistic to get back fully to my active life style. I would highly recommend Dr. McCandless, he is good at what he does and gives an honest answer to questions.
