List of Kindred Hospital San Diego's Reviews
I really recommend this facility don’t worry about the building or the size, my father in law was here for about a month and he is now done with this milestone.. loving caring staff always available to help or for any needs the Patients have, very welcoming from the moment we had the appointment to meet with Shinta very loving director and helpful, She explained everything very competent.. We need more facility like kindred..
My father was transferred there this Friday April 22 and my family is very confirmed because he is left in his room unattended. I try to call the facility to make sure to keep up to date with my fathers recuperation but the nurses don’t answer and when they do, they seem frustrated that I have called. I want to know what the facility is doing to help these nurses feel at ease so that they are not always stressed. I want my father to receive the best care possible for us to be able to bring him home. The only thing my family wants is for him to be taken care of properly. I have not received any good news from my aunt who’s has been there every day till this day during visitation. The nurses ignore her and don’t seem to care at all.
My father was admitted to Kindred LTAC after being hospitalized with Covid at Kaiser. We appreciate Kindred's hospital services for my dad. When insurance declined to cover and requested a transfer to a post acute, we did not want to go. The case managers were great to work with. Kiana was especially wonderful to work with. She would visit my dad with an iPad, in order for us to visit dad on Zoom when we were unable to physically visit.

If you have a employee there named Todd Halford well you're gonna be shocked he invited over a 15 yr old and admitted it on live and is willing to transfer HIV to an innocent child. You need to get rid of and have his license taken from him for good. I posted the link to the live feed for you to see for yourself. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn7n_JPAXis&feature=youtu.be
My family member was transferred to Kindred hospital. We tried several times to arrange MDT meeting so that we know what was going on. Staff did not provide any updates to the family. We were told that they will move our relative to a nursing home. We requested a discharge planning meeting before any transfer to find out if he was well enough to go to nursing home. Next day the family was told by the nurse that they are moving him today to a nursing home. The administration did not provide any opportunity to the family to discuss his care plan or at least view the nursing home. I think this is a disgrace how they treat people. They just told the family that we are moving him in the next hour. Where are the basic ethics of communicating with the family whilst our relative was in coma. Absolutely horrible. I wish people can be treated with dignity rather than objects.
My mother was in kindred for over 2 weeks they are always shorthanded on nurses the dr here told me my mother was so sick to take her home so she may die. I was upset by that never should a dr say that when my mother wants to fight how inhumane my mother couldn't eat or drink and i asked numerous times for IV fluids they only gave her them 2 days when the dr said it was a standing order but my mother was NOP nothing by mouth she ended up Friday till Monday with no fluids) so it dehydrated her my mother ended up in hospital (UC San Diego) from dehydration and her creatine was high because lack of fluids keeping her one kidney flushed. ur loved ones don't get they care they need . My mother ended up with BAD mouth ulcers because her mother was moistened enough it was sad and my mother didn't know when she had a bowel movements and I was there 6 to 8 hrs hours a day visitin herr nurse should have checked her bottom more her feces was dried on her legs and bottom soo sad and disappointing thr Dr the wouldn't listen to me or take anything in concern and had no compassion also THE NURSES ARENT TRAINED ON DRAWING BLOOD FROM PICK LINES i saw how they tried not the right way so my mom got poked all the time i was frustrated and had to ask and wait to see if I could stay over no one called me back to verify that I had to keep asking until the very nice receptiin woman who has worked there a while called for me shes very thoughtful and kind😢 sad experience especially after reading all those good reviews hmm
I go sick ended up in Sharp Chula Vista. After 7 days they transferred me Kindred Hospital San Diego. I was there for almost 22 days. The staff at Kindred treated me like I owned the place. Sharp's Hospital is an acute care facility. Kindred Hospital is a long term care facility. Both hospitals basically saved my life. I would recommend Kindred Hospital in a San Diego Minute. I know the saying is in a New York minute. My treating doctor, was Dr. Elion Brace. He was an excellent and amazing doctor. He came and saw me every day that I was in the hospital. I would recommend him if you're looking for a good doctor. He also sent copies of the medical charts to, family doctor and my cardiologist. I can't say enough about Kindred Hospital San Diego, Sharps Hospital Chula Vista. The Chula Vista Fire Department and their Paramedics Team. The doctors in the hospital emergency room too.
Once again I had a friend that was sent from Scripps hospital to the Kindred hospital due to platelet problems and this hospital was the most under ron facility and between the caseworker never really doing her job other saying I'm on it and I'll get back with you and no one ever taking responsibility for what they did as I almost killed my friend with giving her drugs that put her almost in a coma and failed to call any family members or to let them know that she was in dire danger they just covered it up and I was a shame if we were so happy we could've sued him and we probably would've won on the dot it's just a shame that when you're on your worst health you're damned into these places that their only thing is is how soon can we get you out and they just walked by their sweet as honey to you they will always say yes yes I'll get this done don't worry you just get healthy and they don't do anything if possible please find another place for your loved one for their sake and your well-being as well take care
Mostly great care at the hospital.Dr Brace was very professional and as helpful as he could be.Regime (RN) was absolutely amazing (5*) and the other nurses were great too. Very caring and attentive. Obviously some were better than others but good overall. Most of the CNAs were helpful but Casey was awesome. One complaint would be that one CNA referred to me as a drug addict in the hallway right outside of my room when I requested different pain meds as the ones I was given were not helping for my rhabdomyolysis (entire lower body) and peripheral neuropathy in both feet and legs. This was very unprofessional. The physical therapists were on point. Very helpful and good care. Lots of laughs with those guys but very helpful in getting me stronger. 5* for those guys. The case managers were the worst part of my experience at the hospital. Very unfriendly. Lack of empathy and not personable at all. Lied to me about initially sending my EDD paperwork when I knew that paper was left in a previous room I was in. Told me I had to leave the hospital on a Wednesday but when I called Cigna insurance, they told me that I was still covered until Friday. Promised me that a second walker was ordered for me as I needed to keep one upstairs and one downstairs. This was also untrue as I still had no walker. One of the case managers in particular should not be working in a hospital which requires good communication, empathy and people skills. Probably better suited working with the patients found in a mortuary.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
