Disappointed and Concerned – Thermal Event During CoolSculpting at LaserAway Hillcrest My husband and I were genuinely excited for his CoolSculpting session at LaserAway Hillcrest, but the experience ended up being extremely disappointing. Shortly after the treatment began, my husband noticed there was no suction under his chin—which is a key part of how CoolSculpting works. We immediately brought this up to Jess, the nurse assisting him, but no adjustments were made. Not long after, the machine stopped and displayed a “Thermal Event Detected” warning, meaning the applicator had to be removed and the treatment discontinued. According to CoolSculpting guidelines, this type of event can happen when the applicator is not properly placed or secured on the skin. Sadly, this seems to be what happened in our case. We were truly looking forward to this appointment, but it felt like the nurse lacked experience or training in handling the procedure properly. My husband didn’t receive the care or results we expected. He is now scheduled for a rescheduled session next week at the La Jolla LaserAway location, and we’re really hoping this next experience will be different—more professional, safer, and properly done. We’re sharing this feedback in the hope that LaserAway takes these events seriously and ensures better training across all locations to protect clients from similar issues. I had a wonderful experience! She was incredibly kind and professional. She took great care in explaining every detail of the laser treatment for my face, making me feel safe and informed throughout the entire process. She also went above and beyond to help me apply for my credit, which I truly appreciated. I’m so happy with her beautiful attitude and the way she treated me. Thank you so much!

Laser Away Hillcrest. The Business was Very Professional and Clean, The Staff are Very Sweet. Offered me a beverage as I sat down. My Laser Consultant was Very Accommodating to my Busy work schedule. She called me back and answered all my questions. She even told me about Care Credit to help with payments. Laser Away is open 7 days a week and has long hours. So can sneak in all the time. Thank you for all your help and information, see you next month. Go early to your appointment so you can numb accordingly.
