Lori Broderick's Online Review Report Card

The one star is for her listening skills. A good listener who gets lost in a different world and most of the time doesn't pay attention to what you are talking about. This fever clinic just sucks, they have only once a month appointments. This doctor clearly lacks compassion. I don't understand why rady's puts people like this in pediatrics. She doesn't care to follow up or send a message regarding test results. Just blank nothing. I have called her office many times and left many messages. Her nurses are not even aware of where she is.

No wonder, this doctor clearly lacks compassion and empathy. The only thing I could say is she gets one star for being a good listener. Listener who doesn't pay attention to what you are talking may be. We saw her for my child's treatment there is no follow up and doesn't respond to the messages sent. Doesn't notify you in case the results are back and waiting for few weeks. We have had such a worst experience.

About a year ago we took our son to see Dr. Broderick for Periodic Fever Syndrome (PFAPA). He had been having very high fevers every 30-33 days for 6 straight months and it was like clockwork every month. Dr. Broderick was very kind and spent 45-60 mins talking to us about PFAPA and answering any questions we might have. She is no doubt very knowledgeable about PFAPA. She asked that we keep a log and really start tracking the exact intervals of the fever episodes, which we did. She also felt that because my son has allergies this may be the cause for the fevers and prescribed us Flonase for allergies/sinusitis. In the meantime, we were waiting for results of various blood tests to come back that would help rule out anything more serious. All the bloodwork came back negative which we were grateful for but my wife and I began to grow frustrated because the Flonase didn’t help at all. We were now going on 9 straight months with these fever episodes that lasted 2-3 days and it was painful to see my 7-year-old so out of commission every month. My wife and I did a lot of reading and research on PFAPA and understood that this could be something that can last a long time before they eventually grow out of it (some live with it forever). We also have read of success stories of children that had their tonsils removed and this completely cured them or at least extended the episode intervals. After 9 months of watching my son suffer we were ready to try anything. This is where I started to become frustrated with the level of care we were given by Dr. Broderick and the Dr. that performed the surgery for that matter. The fact that I was the one that suggested we move forward with the Tonsillectomy and not Dr. Broderick bothered me, she’s the professional not me. I will give her the benefit of the doubt here because maybe she wanted to rule out other possibilities first before we removed the tonsils. It is a painful procedure for a child to have to go through and there are no guarantees this will cure or even help with PFAPA. My wife and I were losing our patience and we wanted to try any option that was going to relieve our son of the pain he had been experiencing every month. Where I can’t give Dr. Broderick the benefit of the doubt and the reason for the low rating is we never heard from her once after the surgery. No follow up from her to see how the surgery went, no follow up to see how my son was doing 1-2 months later. We are now 9 months from the surgery date and we never heard from her once. I would think she might like to know that the tonsillectomy completely cured him of PFAPA. He never had a single fever again. I also signed a waiver to donate his tonsils/tissue so that they could use it for further research at the hospital to potentially help others with PFAPA. I would expect for the cost of all our visits and surgery that we would have received a higher level of after care. I would also think that as Dr. that has done a lot of research and specializes in PFAPA she might want to know that the tonsillectomy was successful for our child. The fact that nobody ever checked back in at all really left a bad taste with my wife and me.
