If you have been going to Functional docs for years, have spent thousands on testing for lyme or mold and are hopeful for answers do not come here. After symptoms were flaring for me, I wanted to work with someone new. As most people dealing with chronic inflammatory conditions, paying the first consult fee is expensive especially if you have gone to multiple docs in one year. All this to say, I was very interested in working with this office. I watched her videos, and her website at nauseum, but did not think the $2000 for lyme testing was mandatory to get started. I can login to RUPA and Igenix and order tests.. however I chose to pay to work with someone thinking they have CLINICAL experience that they use to evaluate and assess a new patient. During the first consult she did not ask me once about what worked what has not. I sent pages and pages of lab results because the impression I got when calling their office was that she'd review them in session to provide guidance. I do not expect anyone to review outside of their paid consult time but I do hope you can grasp a history and engage with someone. Instead, the session was her telling me to order $2k Igenix testing - nothing else. No use of clinical experience at all!! As is common with Function offices, is a lack of any professional experience in terms of customer service or management of a practice. You should be able to provide insight in the first session - next steps or some plan of action for a client. I work in the medical field, and during an initial consult, I review the entire history and in the moment provide feedback, questions within 40 min and still have time to prepare a treatment plan for the client to get started. If you are unable or not confident to make a clinical Dx, don't say you are a Lyme expert. The doc may know a lot in theory, but cannot translate that into actual treatment plans. If she could, she would listen and try to create a custom approach based on your years of medical history. By requiring labs most of which are not sensitive especially if you were bitten or may have been infected with borrelia 10 years ago. Patient portals are 100% necessary and easily affordable these days. To not have a patient portal and comply with HIPAA or patient privacy is a serious breach of Ethics. To be emailing the same "Info" email address asking personal questions, instead of logging into Doximity, or others is unprofessional. It degrades the already questionable natured of the ND. The reality is that if she knew how to interpret labs and listen to clients discussing symptoms - she should have the clinical expertise to create a treatment plan PRIOR to requiring $2000 in testing. I appreciate using data to measure change and results, but you should still be able to use SUBJECTIVE CLINICAL EXPERIENCE to provide an outline and clarity to a new patient. I never followed up because if she can't give a crap about my health hx or where I am at in an initial consult, i dont expect it to change.

I have been working with Nicola for over 12 years. She is an excellent practitioner....one who takes a great deal of time to learn about her patients and also to learn about the different modalities that are working in the medical field for challenging diseases. I was very sick with Lyme disease for many years, as were my kids. Through her guidance and excellent care, we navigated different treatment protocols that eventually healed us. Dr. Nicola is an incredibly talented, intelligent, empathetic, dedicated physician who saved my daughter's life. Sofia was suffering from Lyme Disease for months with migraines, joint pain, heart issues, brain fog, anxiety and numerous other issues which 6 hospital stays and numerous doctors could not diagnose and cure. Dr. Nicola called for the blood tests which finally diagnosed Fifi with Lyme and other tick diseases. Next, she put together a protocol which began to cure Sofia immediately. Alternatively, she will sometimes present ideas of possible treatments or studies that SHE has come across, but will never push you into anything you aren’t ready to do or aren’t comfortable with. Dr. Nicola and RestorMedicine have successfully guided me thru many different treatments protocols for various specific issues (Lyme treatment, co-infection treatments, chelation therapy, IV therapy, detox protocols, hormone therapy, etc.). The office also has it’s own dispensary so you can conveniently and easily get the support supplements you need at a reasonable cost. If you are dealing with resistant/chronic Lyme or related co-infections, Dr. Nicola is a first class choice and I highly recommend her. Previous to going to Dr. Nicola, I was treated by 2 other Lyme doctors, one of them being a pretty famous LLMD up in San Francisco. Dr. Nicola BY FAR blew them out of the water and was leagues ahead of them in terms of treatment protocols, immune support protocols, bedside manner, openness to new, cutting edge treatments, & knowledge of alternative treatments (such as SOT therapy, Ozone therapy, EMF remediation), etc. I owe absolutely every thing to Dr. Nicola and her staff. She is a truly knowledgeable, thorough & meticulous doctor (not to mention an amazing human being) and is by far the best health care professional I’ve ever had in my life.
