WOW! Dr Burns is the type of doctor I really appreciate. His style of doctor patient interaction is the kind I hear people wishing for all the time. He listens, he is patient, he educates and he answers all your questions with a full understanding of his specialty. I was having trouble with my cost co glasses and he was able to hone in on all the reasons that added up to the experience I was having. He covered everything from the type of eye correction I need (I am farsighted with astigmatism) as well as the potentiality of technical inexperience ( with the measuring of the eye for the progressive lenses ) and including examining the issues with fit and size of the lenses that the glasses themselves could be presenting and thus making acclimating to wearing them a so far unsuccessful experience. There was nothing wring with my prescription by the way from cost co. His office confirmed that. He just went beyond that - to get at the root of the problem for ME specifically. I also had come with questions about Lasik and cataracts and other corrective surgeries (I'm 51 so they are in the future...) In the end, the issues are there for me to fix, its not anything he could do at this time as a surgeon and the prescription from cost co was correct. However, the investigative way WE approached the issues I was having with the glasses put me in the drivers seat - armed with information and a path toward getting to a better experience with corrective lenses today. I emphasize WE because all too often doctors don't take the time to listen and integrate your information with what they know and bring you to up to their level of understanding. They just tell you what they know and expect you trust them. Dr Burns earns your trust and confidence by working WITH you where you are in your understanding and brings your forward to greater confidence with what choices you can make . Granted, all this expertise freely given took time and yes I did wait a little bit in the front office prior to seeing Dr Burns. I see many people complain about the wait times in other reviews. He struck me as a great doctor and if I did need surgery or something more than I came in for that day - his bedside manner coupled with his long experience is what I would want to have. In short, worth the wait for me. As for the office staff, they are very relaxed - and I can see how that might put people off. I found them just fine, friendly, candid and capable. Free parking and a Saturday visit too - where else are you going to find that?!Loved Dr Burns!
Since I have only talked to Dr. Burns for 5 minutes, I can't say much about him. I waited 2 months for an appointment and when I finally got in and after paperwork and a half dozen tests, I was finally put in a room to see Dr. Burns. I was in the room for 45 minutes and was about to walk out when Dr. Burns finally came in. He look at my eyes through his machine and said, "yep, you have cataracts" (which I already knew). He then told me the price of the Best surgery which my insurance does not cover and when I asked about the cost of the lesser surgery, he turned me over to his assistant who took me to someone else to book another appointment to go over the costs and procedures. This appointment is in 3 more weeks! So after almost 3 hours in that office, I am no closure to scheduling surgery or knowing the cost! To say I'm put off by this experience would be an understatement!
I got my lasik done with Dr. Burns and I am extremely happy, staff is amazing and the prices are great. thank you Dr. Burns I am so grateful for your work.
Dr. Burns is the best and funny. Really care for his patient. He made my fiance very comfortable. His clinic is also nice and very friendly people. They really do care
I felt I was in very competent hands from Dr. Burns ....right down to his front office staff and everyone I saw in between....Wonderful. 😊
One star , you cant leave a review with out clicking on at least 1 star. I was in today for a one year follow up for lense implant cateract removal. Today I waited 2 hours and left without seeing Dr. Burns. Every single time its a 1 to 1 1/2 hour wait. Today was my limit no Dr. Is that good. 2 HOURS. The office staff could of called me befor I left work earily without pay, to reschedule my appt. They have no considerstion. How dare Dr.s be so arrogant and disrespectful. Find someone else if you value your time because they sure don't. I have complained several times to Dr Burns and the office manager. All they did was blame each other. I told Dr Burns the very first visit I met him that I felt like I was in a puppy mill. No personal touch at all no one cares, Good luck .
Two stars for the office staff and appointment procedure.Dr.Burns did my cataract surgery almost 2 years ago and I wanted an appointment to check my eyes for any changes since the surgery plus a renewal for my prescription for eye drops. The office clerk made a decision to give me an appointment with their optician for a full eye check even though I asked to see Dr.Burns. I was charged a co- payment of $49.00. I had never made a co pay before and was told that is what Medicare pays. I was confused. I never saw Dr. Burns for this appointment and learned from the optician that I did need an adjustment to the surgery which would be an easy fix with a laser. I also had a very slight need for distance and reading glasses and was funneled into their optometry office for glasses. I refused the glasses but was given the prescription. My two stars here not for Dr.Burns or the nice optician but for the office staff making judgement of what I needed and not telling me who I was to see and why. I had to argue with the appointment clerk on the phone and thought I would see Dr. Burns for this appointment. Just be upfront and tell people what your office policies are.
This is a large eye clinic in So CA. Specific doctors work in certain locations. Not impressed with Palm Desert facility. Waited 3 hours over my appointment time in a crowed office. Everyone that day had waited 3 hours. I came for a consult. A doctor that makes you wait long is not respectful of my time. Apparently he overbooks and if that is an indication of surgery day I don't want him as my doctor. Trying to get any records from there they want to charge you, Brenda is rude as rest of staff.
Dr. Burns took such good care of my wife. She was uneasy about the procedure but he quelled her fears with great diplomacy. Kudos to you doctor.
Dr. Burns is both very skilled and also understanding and compassionate. He exhibits the ability to connect with his patients and to put them at ease. His credentials and qualifications are impeccable. His skill is at the highest levels. I completely trust him with my eyes.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
