List of Scott Leary's Reviews
I suffered with back pain and physical limitations for over 25 years. Sitting, walking, standing, bending were painful and difficult. Dr. Leary explained the medical benefits of Stem Cell Therapy. The procedure was performed and 6 weeks later, I was pain free. Dr. Leary is an exceptionally brilliant Neurosurgeon and I am so grateful to him.
Dr. Leary is a Magician! I suffered from neck and back pain for 20 years. In 2021, he did a 2 level fusion on my neck. Years of pain and numbness are completely gone! Then in March of 2023, I finally had my lower back fused at 2 levels. I am a super active almost 50 year old and I feel like I have my life back! There isn’t anything I could even begin to say to express my gratitude for Dr. Leary and his staff!
Michelle is so easy to work with and was very understanding. We enjoyed our experience working with them and would very much recommend them to others, they have helped so many.
Dr. Leary made me a human again! Before him, I wanted to die. I owe him my life!!!!
Dr.Leary performed two highly successful spinal surgeries and a stem cell procedure. I'm pain free for over 4 years, back to working out, martial arts, running trails, etc. ...I continue to be emensely grateful to Dr. Leary and his staff.
Can only speak for myself of course. Everything he promises, demand it in writing! Not saying bad surgeon, but zero medical ethics which is worse! Was very hesitant having major thoracic fusion, and now all know no surgeon with all the info & records would. He guaranteed 100% X6 times if we did it. I was in a lot of pain, but was 90% of it was my paraspinals were damaged, and he knew it. Other Doc he knows saw it all and was concerned. I asked Leary to talk to him. That day I asked leary if he did, and said yes. With major promises, & other doc stating this surgery won't be affected I said yes! Of course 5 seconds before going under he made me sign saying no promises were made. At that point, I did it, waiting for mask to put me under. After 3 months when I knew it went horribly and was 20 times worse, I asked other Doc and he stated he didn't speak with Leary about it, omg! I am now fully disfigured with giant muscles sticking out and extreme pain & half my back major nerve damage also. with this they still say my back is perfect. my personal experience with Dr. Leary & staff is beware & go somewhere else. If not at least get all his promises in writing. I trusted Dr. Leary with my life, and he betrayed all medical ethics which I am paying a heavy price.
Demand in writing everything he promises! I was hesitant on having life changing thoracic surgery. They stated X6 times I would be 100%, and asked about golf, he guaranteed it! I had injections by a Doc he knows well. He saw the extent of damage to my ENTIRE back. Emailed & asked Leary to discuss with other doc. That hesitant day I asked him if he spoke with him. He stated YES, and surgery wouldn't be affected by it. I was happy! 5 sec's before surgery, had to sign that he made no promises. 3 months after surgery when I knew it was all wrong, I asked other doc. He stated he didn't discuss with Leary! I believe he is a good surgeon, but what my personal experience is that he has zero medical ethics! They knew in advance I had a very serious underlying condition, but it didn't matter. My entire back is disfigured, I am bedridden most of the time and in severe pain 24/7. I trusted my life with him, and he betrayed that trust, beware!
Dr. Leary is a very thorough and talented surgeon. I had been suffering from two severely herniated cervical discs for over a year--trying to deal with them with life-style adjustments and physical therapy. I ultimately decided upon surgery as I was in massive chronic pain. Dr. Leary cleared out my crab meat disc shreds, implanted two artificial discs and fused them. Almost a year later- I am 99% better. I am so very grateful. The protocol, explicit instructions and ability to reach Peter Schultz, his NP, at any time were and are still crucial components of my healing success. Pete was fantastic! I was looking at a few surgeons and after one appt with Dr. Leary- my search was over. If you need surgery-- do absolutely everything you can before opting in. If you do decide to go ahead, Dr. Scott Leary WILL help you. He is beyond excellent.
This Dr. Changed my life. I had extreme neck pain for years , in 2008 I had neck surgery and the outcome was the loss of my right arm. Now I have NO neck pain and I can not only feel my arm it is coming back.
Dr. Leary performed a laminectomy and microdiscectomy on my lumbar back in 2015 and I have been PAIN FREE ever since. I had struggled with back pain for over 15 years, gone to physical therapy, tried acupuncture, had countless epidural injections, seen 2 Orthopedic surgeons-nothing helped. I started walking with a cane at the age of 30 and thought I would never be normal again. But I drove from OC to Dr. Leary because he was rated one of the best neurosurgeons and I am so glad I did. I have been pain free for 5 years now and highly recommend him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
