Scripps Coastal Medical Center's Online Review Report Card

I do NOT recommend them.If you enjoy not being listened to, or no follow up, or just generally feeling like they do not give a flying F about you, then you may like them.

Making an appointment and it NOT GETTING CANCELLED is impossible here. I've been cancelled on twice. Once when I was already in the building and the second time an hour before my actual appointment. And good luck rescheduling, they are booked out for two weeks minimum. COVID sucks and I get that but AN HOUR before? Cmon now.

I want to thank Breanna (hope I spelled that correctly), the office manager, for responding to me and addressing my concerns.  We will work through these issues together.

I have been a patient of Dr. Schlocker for about 4 years and have nothing but rave reviews. She is amazing and it is my regret that I am forced to get a new physician because of the absolute horrible process it gets to get a simple prescription refilled.  As I type this, I just placed my 12th phone call to the office in 3 1/2 weeks to get a prescription refilled. Been out of medication for a month now.  Every time I call, I make sure I'm polite and am assured my message will be high priority. Honestly, I was very patient as the Scripps electronic system had gone down, however this problem started months ago and continues today. I ask the office for help and get the run around that the pharmacy or my insurance hasn't completed a step.  So....I do my due diligence and call around to end up back with the doctor's office that hasn't completed a step. My wife did not have any issues getting the same prescription called into a pharmacy, where I was told it could not be done.  So, I'm feeling like the standards are not the same or maybe I'm getting confused with someone else who gave the office a hard time at one point.  I am seriously nice even though I'm frustrated because I have manners.  However, I'm so done with this office and am sad to lose Dr. Schlocker, she is the best.

The network outage affecting Scripps has been going on for many weeks now without resolution, or patients being provided any information.  It's been a nightmare trying to contact my doctor to get a critical prescription renewed.  Neither I, nor my pharmacy can get through.  I called at least five times and was left on hold or disconnected.  This is beyond unacceptable service from a medical provider!

Scipps is a bloated organization.  The care I receive here is fine, nothing exceptional.  I go here for convenience.   Well, here is the thing; the lab is not a lab, its a collection depot.  The actual lab work is not done by Scripps but third-party contract labs.  The risk in this is Scripps arbitrarily contacts without confirming the 3rd party lab is in your insurance network.  Back and forth with Scripps to get a bill paid for something I had zero control over.  Know this; you may get a lab bill because Scripps is duping its patients into believing they do their own lab work; they do not.  Scripps contract with whomever is best for Scripps, not you.

Scripps Hillcrest used to be awesome, now I can't even get an appointment to see my doctor unless it's on a computer or with the nurse. I do not want to see a nurse or a computer I wanted to see my doctor. Your customer service has really slid downhill. You pretty much have to go the emergency room to actually see a doctor. It's really horrible when you need to see your doctor because of a medical condition and they won't let you see him. I guess it's time to go find a good medical provider I don't know what happened to Scripps lately they've been really dropping the ball feels like I'm getting substandard Medical Care.

I've always been a fan of Scripps Coastal but in all honesty, I've never really had much to compare it to. Truth be told, I don't think I need to line them up side by side with another entity to know that they do great work here, the other night was proof of that. My health and pain has been a constant lately, same issues with variations of the same things. We're getting to the bottom of it and I hope that the end is near... not death, but relief. Come on, you sickos, don't go to a dark place!Well, when my right knee swelled up to an impressive size, my ability to walk was stripped from me, and unbearable pain overtook me, a trip to the emergency room was in order but instead I wanted to see if any Doctor, PA, GP, Janitor, ANYONE within the Scripps Mercy could see me on a moments notice. Sure enough they slipped me on the schedule just a few hours later, which was way better than spending that time in a waiting room. The hospital was empty and it was awesome! Vitals were taken and a short time later my leg was being sliced and diced to suck out a nasty infection. This is where/when I give props to, Osvaldo Batista, but we call him, Ozzy. Ozzy had me feeling 50% better within hours and while I'm still feeling some residual, I'm on the mend, for this particular issue, at least.

I have a 8 year old son who has been a patient at Scripps since birth. His first doctor was Dr. Gerber who we absolutely loved. After he left we started seeing Dr. Wright. Let's just say she was not a good fit. She came off as very condescending and dismissive. We then switched to Dr. Scull whom we like immensely. Unfortunately our insurance provider is changing and we will no longer be able to see him. I just wanted to post and say we will miss Dr. Scull and his medical assistant Dana. Dana has been my son's nurse since birth. My son adores her. She helped us through a very scary visit which required my son to have several breathing treatments in the office and subsequently a ride in the ambulance to Children's hospital. The entire time we were there she monitored his oxygen, calmed him down, offered me refreshments and something to eat. She even went down to the coffee shop and brought up a coffee, bagel and a yogurt. I will never forget that kindness. I was a wreck and she went the extra mile to make sure my son and I were taken care of. We will definitely miss this doctor and his wonderful nurse.
