have had multiple issues with scheduling appointments for current and past surgeries. I have also had multiple issues with my appointment times being changed the day before my appointments. I have even had my appointments changed to a completely different day without ever being asked first. My most recent problem is that I have been planning a surgery with multiple procedures done for over a month. I went to my pre-op appointment today for my surgery next Tuesday. I was surprised when I was told that the plan had changed and I wouldn't be able to have everything done at one time. I was also told that someone should have reached out before hand to let me know this. The communication at this place is absolutely atrocious!! Apparently they can't even cancel an appointment because I told them to cancel the surgery completely and it still has not been cancelled. I have also been waiting since February for my facial feminization surgery consultation. UCSD you have not only lost the surgery that is scheduled for Tuesday but also my facial feminization surgery, all of my physical therapy appointments, my gastroenterologist appointments everything. I will go to a hospital that knows how to communicate with there patients. UCSD has been nothing but a waste of a year of my life! I had my gender reassignment surgery done in February and I am regretting that as well. My surgical incision opened up three weeks after I was discharged. I was in constant pain from that and had to wait three months just to have another surgery so that could be fixed. That didn't get scheduled until I literally called crying because I was so much pain. Also I'm still spraying when I urinate. I have been since February. That's fine though I will take all of my appointments to another hospital that is capable of doing everything they are paid for!! I have also reached out and spoken with the patient experience department twice. Obviously this was no help because otherwise somebody would have reached out to me before my appointment yesterday letting me know that my surgery plan had changed! I'm the person having the surgery, shouldn't I have been notified of this before my appointment? Instead I was lied to. I went into my pre-op appointment yesterday expecting to have a pre-op appointment for everything. You have no clue how stupid it feels to be informed that your all of a sudden just having a breast augmentation done. I couldn't even have my Doctor tell me this whom I have been working with since February. I instead had a nurse practitioner tell me that I had never met before! UCSD also has no clue how hurtful and damaging this experience has been for me. None of you have a clue what it is like being a transgender female waking up everyday for 40 years in a body that is completely wrong and that I hate in every single way. I was looking so forward and I finally had hope in getting just a little closer on the outside to the woman that my heart and soul is on the inside. First with the surgery that was supposed to happen on Tuesday and then with my facial feminization surgery. There are no words to express how detrimental it is finally having some peace because you know things are finally changing but having it all just ripped away from you all at once! None of you will ever understand this unless you are in a transgender persons place. I can complain to any department you have, but compassion, understanding, sensitivity and communication is not something that can be forced. You either have it or you don't. Obviously UCSD doesn't have it because if they did I wouldn't have been crying and heartbroken since I left my appointment yesterday. If you are going to offer gender affirming I beg of you please try and understand what it must be like to be the patient. Try and understand what it must feel like being told one thing by your doctor having your heart set on that and having it ripped from you five days before your surgery. You have the power to fix the issues , do don't pass me off to someone else that can't help

I selected UCSD health system when I moved to Rancho Bernardo because the offce is 5 minutes from my home. But I have learned that most physicians work part time at the location and specialists are not readily available. The only ENT working at that facility was not available for 2 months. In order to be seen sooner, I took an appointment in La Jolla a month away. This is not providing the kind of service I expect from a system which claims to be No. 1 in San Diego.

Don't use UCSD health for a Covid test. The process for getting a test is fine but their Myhealth app has bugs and issues that make the process very frustrating. Their support isn't helpful either. Worklabs is a much better solution.

Billing department is very difficult and takes forever to resolve a billing case. There should be a specific billing coordinator for complicated insurance case that involves an expensive procedure.

My brother Darrel Karrer is currently in Inland Valley Medical Center, he was walking and talking over a week ago and came in with walking pneumonia, he tested negative multiple times for Covid. He doesn’t have Covid-19! Now he’s on a ventilator because they cannot find a bed at a higher level of care hospital. Covid has taken over our hospitals and is inhibiting the ability for doctors to save those they can save. Help us get this message out, help us get him transferred to UC San Diego, UC Irvine or any other facility that has research capability. He is dying in a local hospital because the larger hospitals with more capabilities are focused on Covid-19! We as a community need to stand up as this is unacceptable, he was a healthy 64-year-old man with a treatable condition but has been a casualty of the Covid virus and he doesn’t even have it. Help us please! We need to get him transferred to another facility! They keep telling us no beds available. I am a fire chief from Tucson Arizona, I have never seen such negligent medical care. I’ve spent 40 years of my life helping to save the lives of a stranger, yet the communities that we serve can’t help our own loved ones. His wife is a nurse serving the Southern California community and she has saving multiple lives over the past 10 years, yet we can’t save her husband, help us please!

I was a UCSD Healthcare patient since 2004 - 15 years and I own a Healthcare Consulting Company that performed Hospital Accreditation Inspections for the Joint Commission of Hospital Accreditation - I am a healthcare EXPERT. I'm also a Disabled Veteran, a borderline walking quadriplegic with Advanced Secondary Osteoporosis - secondary to Leprosy of my GI tract nerves. In 2019 the UCSD Infectious Disease Dept. refused to examine me for Leprosy - they refused to diagnose and treat me, stating I was delusional. Same with UCSD Dermatology - they refused to perform a PCR test on me for Leprosy. So I flew to the Marie Curie Institute of the Sorbonne University in Paris and got the diagnosis and treatment i needed to survive. I then sent the bill for my care in France to the UC System for reimbursement - by means of federal litigation. Based on my firsthand experience of absolute failure and incompetence with UCSD Infectious Disease Specialists, I am unable to recommend UCSD health for ANY sort of critical care. Be careful with these incompetent state employee fools!
