Arlene Keller's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Keller has been my provider for over 8 years, but I finally couldnt take it anymore... and switched doctors. When you put decisions regarding your life in someones hands, you should feel comfortable approaching them and trust their decisions.  I had approached her for years about various health concerns, to which she dismissed didnt even order additional tests or send me to a specialist.  I finally saw the light and switched doctors when I was scheduled for a physical on November 17th I woke up with a sore throat, low grade fever, and felt horrible.  I looked up on the CDC guidelines, and it said stay home dont go out and potentially contaminate anyone.  I called her office, left messages, and I sent emails through her office portal.  I did everything I could to let them know I was sick, and was not going to come into the office to potentially expose them and their clients.  I got a snotty unprofessional note back saying it was too late to cancel and they are going to charge me for not coming in or cancelling sooner.  How was I to know the night before that I was going to be that sick?  I stayed home because I was being considerate and following the CDC guidelines!  And then I receive a bill in January for the missed appointment.  Ive tried calling her office no one will return my call.  Ive paid the bill so my credit isnt affected.Since finding a new doctor, Ive learned that the health issues Ive complained to Dr. Keller about for years are actually a problem.  My new provider immediately scheduled tests and referred me to specialists so that we could things on track and under control.

Dr. Keller is the worst doctor I have ever been to in my life!  She had a horrible bedside manor and made me feel like the symptoms I had been struggling with were all in my head.  I was actually crying in her office because the past week I had some scary low blood sugar episodes and was generally feeling awful.  She never showed any kind of sympathy or empathy and told me that if all the tests came back normal that we had to discuss my mental health.  I also feel like she was talking down to me the entire visit and making me feel foolish for researching my symptoms online and asking her questions.  When someone comes in with multiple symptoms that werent there before, why wouldnt you believe them?!?  I cant even figure out why she is a doctor if she does not want to help people.  I left feeling worse than when I entered.  She should not be practicing medicine if she is not willing to help people!  I have switched doctors now and my new doctor believes me and says she will get to the bottom of whatever is going on.  This is what a doctor should do.  Please do not go to Dr. Keller!  I never write reviews on Yelp but if I can keep 1 person from going to see her, it was worth the effort!

Arlene Keller is a bully.I was abused so badly by her that I waited months to write this because I feared her retribution. Initial physical exam: She made unilateral conclusions about my sex life without discussion. She made threatening remarks about my mental health status. She decided to take me off of a medication without discussion. She was curt, condescending, and presumptuous.I just sat there in a paper gown unable to speak. I had never been treated so badly in my life.It was a big mistake to trust her.I was emotionally shaken for weeks by this betrayal in a sacred doctorpatient relationship.  Subsequent visit a few months later:I went in to check some unusually bad cold symptoms. I was feeling physically and emotionally horrible.Again she made judgmental remarks about my mental health.She condescendingly told me I had a cold and not the flu and that she would not prescribe antibiotics, though I had not asked her for them, clearly assuming I did not know that antibiotics are not effective against viruses.  She condescendingly corrected a small word choice error I made, though I was clearly very ill. She grabbed a short list of questions out of my hand which I had to grab back. She said that if I wanted to ask more questions I should make another appointment and that they would bill insurance for what they could and charge the rest to me, saying I think thats only fair to me and my other patients, dont you? then walked out the door.All this while I was sick, vulnerable, and in her care.Again I was emotionally shaken for weeks by this abuse in a sacred setting. Two traumatic and abusive visits were enough for me to drop her and seek another doctor. I considered reporting her to the California Medical Board but I dont have the bandwidth. After reading other reviews here, my impression is that if she sees you as weak she will judge and punish you, but if she sees you as respectable, rich or powerful, she will treat you well. In any case she is clearly judging her patients and adjusting her treatment according to her assessment of your worthiness. In a medical setting there should never be any judgement at all!Towards me she was an outright bully who seemed to enjoy her power over others. Stay away from Dr. Keller!

Dr. Keller has been my PCP for 10+ years. I have trusted her and subsequently shared my various health concerns with her. She is great at picking up right where you left off at the last visit.The reason for my 2star review is her poor bedside manners. I have increasingly found her to be judgemental and cold. After reading others 12 star reviews and finding similarity there with my own experiences, I realize I am not alone. I will be finding a new doctor, which I think is a good idea anyway after 10 years. I want someone with a fresh set of eyes, and a doctor with a more empathetic approach to my health care, because thats what I need.

Dr Keller provided me with good quality care during a routine check up. Her office is clean and close to my home. I was in and out quickly. Her waiting room had seasonal decorations. Wow! Thanks!

I was referred by friends i trust. I appreciated how informed Dr. Keller was about my medical history based on records she received from other doctors.  She was knowledgeable and pragmatic in discussing my care.  Like my friends, I especially like her efficiency and competence.

Dr. Arlene Keller is a highly competent physician. She has always reviewed my records & medical history prior to seeing me. Dr. Kellers treatment has been superb. I recommend her without reservation.

Sorry this review is so overdue!I have been a patient of Dr. Kellers for at least 15 years. She has always been adequate, not much of a bedside manner, and always seemed like shed rather be somewhere else. But pushing all of that aside, I never changed physicians because I would only see her every other year for a physical, and I dont need her to be my BFF, I just want her to practice medicine.The last time I went in to see her, about a year or two ago, it was to ask for an RX for Chantix to help me quit smoking. She agreed. She asked about my health and I told her I was fine, with the exception that because I worked night shift, I found myself tired during the day, especially on my days off when I had to stay awake and get on a normal schedule. Keller then launched into how it was basically my fault that I was tired since I chose to work that shift. She also insinuated that I was doing it to myself by staying awake to get on a normal schedule on my days off. I told her I did not choose the shift, it was the only option available, and as for staying awake, I also explained that in order for me to take care of regular chores (post office, family obligations, DOCTORS appointments, etc) I had to stay up.Overall, she was just plain rude and insinuated I brought my health issues upon myself. She then said, Im not giving you anything for it, and I told her, Im not asking. Had I not been in a paper gown, I might have told her to go to hell and walked out, but I just sat there somewhat dumbfounded until she left.I know there seems to be a battle of 5 star versus 1 star ratings here, but ask yourself...do you really want to take a chance when it comes to someone dealing with your health? Why not choose another physician with only 4 & 5 star ratings.

Dr. Keller has been my primary care physician for a number of years and I am very pleased to be under her care. She has provided excellent advice when I have needed it, and she always gives me forewarning of things I need to be thinking about or doing to be proactive in my own health and care. I also appreciate that she does not encourage medications / pharma intervention if unnecessary. For example, I have friends who upon entering menopause were advised or encouraged by their doctors to start taking prescription drugs for symptoms that are fairly minor and just a part of the aging process. Dr. Keller is always willing to talk about options for various physical discomforts but she is also careful to indicate the potential cons of such approaches. I should note that 4 stars is my highest rating; I dont think Id ever give 5 stars unless my doctors visit came with a free massage!

I really should have read her other reviews before seeing her.  About a year ago I had to choose a new PCP and give up a great doctor because of going to medicare.  First visit she was a bit standoffish, but still okay.  It was a little difficult with subsequent visits as I only saw her when I had a health issue.  She is authoritarian, talks down to you, but most troubling is she does not listen (or believe your symptoms).  She jumps to a (wrong) diagnosis and interrupts and talks over you.  For example, she said my cough was due to acid reflux even though 2 different doctors (former PCP and allergist) diagnosed asthma. I also went to see her in January 2019 with a very bad cold (3 weeks) that wouldnt go away.  She told me I had the flu.  I told her I had the senior dose of the flu vaccine (3 months earlier).  She didnt do a flu test to confirm.  Its now May and I ended up in the ER with acute bronchitis that the ER doc said should have been tested and diagnosed in January (and treated).  Enough said.  There are plenty more instances, but that should be enough for you to make an informed decision.  NEVER stay with a doctor that wont listen to your symptoms, jumps to conclusions and is extremely rigid and authoritarian.  Not a good mix.
