These people saved my life. They were a constant source of support during a very difficult time. I cannot recommend them enough. Steven, William and Ryan treated my sister with care and respect and made her feel heard. They all saw my sister as a person with a history and a personality, not just a disease. When they couldn't come in person due to Covid, they talked on the phone. When they were able to come, they did. William facilitated her transfer to a care facility when it was time and all of them supported her (and me) through the difficult transition. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My mom was on hospice care for 10 weeks. By the Bay health staff were extremely supportive to my family and Mom. Nurse Lena is an amazing nurse who really took care and supported my mom as she lived her last weeks being at total peace and comfort. Nurse Lena also made my sister and I feel confident enough to “care take” over our mom. Nurse Lena is compassionate and we can’t say enough about her. She answered every single question we had with tender loving care and honesty which we so appreciated. She also often sat down with us after assessing mom to just be present with us. Exposing things in a way we understood, calling the dying process a lot like the birthing process, once she said that we were exposing it that way to everyone. The day my mom passed Nurse Lena had made her regular visit and told us mom probably had hours to a day at best, a few hours later mom had passed- we called the number given to see if maybe Nurse Lena would be able to come back to declare the final , the person who answered said she would try to get a hold of Lena but couldn’t guarantee it would be her. A few minutes went by and Nurse Lena called me- I don’t say anything, she said “I’ll be there in 20 mins” she came we hugged she checked mom one last time and called the time. I can’t tell you how full circle that made us feel. Nurse Lena you rock!!! It was so special to have you as my mom Nurse- she often said when he left “that Lena is a great nurse, she’s going to do amazing things in her career, reminds me of me 30 years ago”
After enrolling in the program we were told to call anytime, that staff would be available to us 24-7. But when we needed a nurse it took 7 hours to get someone to our house. The two nurses who eventually came to our aid were fantastic, but the lack of responsiveness made the last day of my father's life infinitely worse. In the middle of the night we were also told a social worker would be in touch first thing in the morning, but it took multiple calls to get her to respond. The social worker said her number one responsibility was "emotional support" and she learned of my father's passing at 3:30 am but seemed baffled when we said we wanted to meet with her that day. She asked us point blank what we wanted as if this was an unusual request. I expected the case manager or someone else might follow up with us but there has been no follow up. I would hate for someone else to go through this.
Every so often you get reminded that there are genuine, caring people out there who make it their life's work to help you in your darkest times. When my wife was dying of cancer in the midst of covid lockdown, I was referred to Hospice by the Bay and I honestly don't know what I would have done without their help. Due to the circumstances not everything happened as quickly or in the same manner as in the pre-covid world, but I could tell that the people I interacted with actually CARED, and that counted for so much.
My husband had kidney cancer and we received care from Hospice by the Bay for the last 5 weeks of his life. Everyone I encountered there was kind, thoughtful and supportive. Having 24/7 access for needed help was comforting. The home visits were very helpful. I will always be grateful for their service.
Great staff offering a great service.
Loss of a loved one is tough. When my mom died, I joined a support group here with Hospice by the Bay in San Francisco. It was a small group of people in similar situations, and we all helped each other through the grief process. This was an important step that I took for myself and my family, and I would recommend folks look after themselves in this way too. Can't say enough good things about Hospice by the Bay!
I use to work at hospice by the bay its been some years but love working for them a great place to at.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
