List of California Pacific Medical Center Psychiatry's Reviews
Kerstin Morehead, MD. Had three appointments with her at UCSF rheumatology. I realize this is a page for CPMC but has the most reviews for her so I'm leaving my review here so it can be compared and contrasted with the bulk of her reviews. She was everything negative stated by others here and more. She told me that I have osteoarthritis that is what's making my muscles sore all over my body. She said that even though UCSF radiology report on my hip x-rays states there is zero evidence of degenerative disease or any type of arthritis they say my hip joints look completely normal, she claimed I have osteoarthritis in my hips and that the Radiology report was wrong. When I asked her to go over the X-rays with me in the exam room she refused, tells me I don't have inflammatory disease and I need to go to Orthopedics instead. Ditto my elbows. Ditto my TMJ joint. Ditto several other joints that were x-rayed and showed no osteoarthritis whatsoever. Yet at my third exam in person, she stated that I have osteoarthritis in those joints and that is why I have pain in the muscles that are near those joints. I asked several times to be transferred to Dr Gross, a leading specialist in fibromyalgia diagnosis and treatment and she refused. She told me that once you are assigned to a doctor at UCSF Rheumatology you can't be transferred to any other doctor within the practice. I have a strong family history as well as a medical device( silicone breast implant from reconstruction after breast cancer) that is clinically proven to be linked to fibromyalgia as well as other autoimmune arthritic disorders and drastically raises the rates, look it up. She is aware of this yet refuses to order any additional blood labs for me to see if I have become seropositive which is very common autoimmune arthritic disorders. She also claimed I don't have fibromyalgia because I have no brain fog. Meanwhile oh, the last three appointments I've had with primary care centered around my brain fog, the extremeness of it, and my terrible concern with it. I have a dementia evaluation on order. My primary care doctor had ordered it but I can't complete it until they start seeing people in person again at Memory & aging Clinic. So she obviously had not looked at all 1 bit into my primary care doctors notes about what was going on with me. How she expects to successfully treat a patient without taking into consideration any of their other doctors opinions especially the opinion of the primary care.... as the majority of reviewers here agree, stay away, stay away, stay away!
REVIEW OF DR. KERSTIN MOREHEAD: I was referred to Dr. Morehead (Dr. M for this review) by my doctor for chronic neck, back, hip and joint pain and my immediate advice is to NOT see Dr. Morehead and ask your doctor to refer you to someone else. My Experience: After waiting 2-weeks for my appt date, I saw Dr. M on a Thursday in mid-October at 4pm and unfortunately I was a few minutes late since I was coming from work. I was also dressed up in work clothes, with my hair and makeup done and I'll explain why I mention this later. Because I was late the admin said I could do the paperwork after the appointment and I'll be called to go in right away. Not even a minute later I was put into an exam room and just 1-2 mins later, Dr. M came in. However, Dr. M immediately seemed disinterested. She asked why I was there and so I began to tell her. She showed no interest in anything i was saying and made me feel like I had to rush through it, all the while she maintained a deadpan expression on her face. I was so uncomfortable I wasn't even able to cover HALF of my symptoms & she ended up cutting me off and telling me to change into a gown. I did and she returned in just minutes, again very rushed. She did about 2 minutes worth of an examination and then told me I could get dressed. I honestly don't know why I even needed to change into a gown. She left the room and this time did not return for several minutes. Once she returned she said she was trying to find my labs from my referring doctor but was unable to. I told her that I know for a fact they sent over all the lab work and that they should have it on file. She said "well we don't." So I asked her what labs she was wanted to run on me and one of them sounded exactly like a test I already did and so I pointed that out to her and tried to explain it. She cut me off, laughed at me and said, "yeah i don't know what you're talking about." I said I had the results on my phone and went to show her. Again she seemed completely disinterested and annoyed, but she did review them and amended my lab work form and then advised me I'd be getting an x-ray as well. I in no way needed an x-ray and had she listened to me and not rushed me so I could go through everything with her she would've known this. Then less than 10-mins after I stepped into the exam room, she was wrapping up our appt. She asked if I had any questions and although I had about 20 questions, I didn't feel comfortable or allowed to ask them. I did muster up the courage to ask just one question, which was in regards to pain management. I asked her what she would recommend for pain management, and I even told her I did not want a narcotic, but I wanted something better suited for my type of pain and that I'm in excruciating pain all the time and for many yrs now. She literally laughed and said "I'm not prescribing you anything, and especially not 'that' medication." (she was referring to the narcotic I'd previously been prescribed) I said I know and that I wasn't asking for that, because it doesn't really work well, but that I needed to find some way to manage my pain and she just quickly said, "we'll see after your test results come back." I pushed back and said I'm in a lot of pain and I've tried everything and she LITERALLY said, "try Aleve." I thought she was joking - she was not. She left the exam room and I went back to the front desk. As I was checking out, I saw her leaving with an older man. I am unsure why she treated me the way she did and the only reasons I can come up with are... 1. She needed to leave the office asap and so I was just an obstacle for her to quickly get out of the way. 2. She pre-judged me as not being sick or in need of real help because of how I looked. (Work attire, hair, makeup, heels and smiling.) ...whatever her reason might have been for being this way to me, is unacceptable. A week after my appointment I had to call Dr. M's office to get my test results as it seemed no one cared enough to call me. Dr. M called me back and advised that my tests were normal and said, "so your issue isn't an inflammatory issue and so I can't help you. You need to go to another doctor." That was it. Can't believe I waited 2 wks to see her, then this, and for what? To be treated like I didn't matter, that my health issues and extreme pain aren't real, or that I wasn't worth more than 10 mins? Dr. Kerstin Morehead should not be treating patients with the "bedside" manner she has. I really wish I would've looked her up on Yelp before I saw her. Learn from my mistake and avoid seeing her at all costs. I've even alerted my doctor and their entire network about not referring future patients to her. There are so many other doctors out there that really care and even on a bad day will not treat you the way Dr. Morehead treated me and seemingly many other patients that have had the unfortunate luck of seeing her.
Julia M.'s review hits the nail on the head. The office is a mess. 40min+ wait times to get someone on the phone (consistently throughout the day), they put someone else's insurance in my paperwork, asked me to sign for "receiving the privacy practice notice" when they didn't give me anything like that. Receptionist was rude as well, irritated every step of the way (which is just doing her job). The nurse didn't know how to extend the table so I could lie down. I had to physically show her how to use their own medical equipment. and Morehead....what can I say? She took a 20-second (not exaggerating) look at me and said she could order no tests, medications, or offer any recommendations other than physical therapy. When asked for a pain relieving cream or any other help with my paralysis she told me: "you just need to get up and move around more!" Great advice for a cripple. Why didn't I think of that? All I need to do is just get up and move around more! Silly me, just having all the fun of a paralyzed lifestyle. oh, and they charge $100 for no-show (15min late). how nice. Finally, security approached me twice while I was waiting for Paratransit to arrive, sitting with my wheelchair and home care provider. Apparently this place likes to keep disabled people out of sight to maintain their image or something.
This is a great facility but it gets harder and harder to get to from the East Bay. That and the expensive parking if you can find it makes this a difficult facility to use. Luckily, many of the Sutter Health doctors and labs keep hours throughout the East Bay as well.
I agree with Julia M. that Dr. Morehead is horrible. She wasn't prepared for our appointment; didn't want to answer my questions; and gave me less insight than a cursory Google search. She should realize that people take time out of their busy schedule because they've already done their online research.
I have no idea why there are all these negative reviews of Dr. Morehead. I've had nothing but positive experiences with her. She is straight to the point and knows what she's doing. I find her quite friendly and very helpful.
Dr. Morehead and her Nurse Practitioner Ann Mitchell are not good medical care providers and I certainly would never recommend them. They didn't have a sincere concern for my well-being and actually seemed irritated at my persistence in wanting them to help me with my health issues. I have been with Dr. Morehead for more than five years and I knew she wasn't particularly 'warm' in temperament, but I dealt with it because I only needed to see her for my annual physical exam or the occasion minor issue. However, my most recent experience with her and her nurse has convinced me to look elsewhere to get my medical attention- she verbally insulted me when I really needed her assistance. The reviews on this practice are accurate- stay away, it's not worth the frustration.
Dr. Kerstin Morehead is absolutely NOT a doctor I would recommend. Over the course of a few years, I found her to be disinterested in providing the expected level of care one should receive from a primary care physician. She and her office staff made it difficult for my pharmacy to get authorization to refill prescriptions. The pharmacy staff often had to contact me and let me know that their multiple attempts to contact Dr. Morehead's office had gone unanswered.
Dr. Morehead replaced Dr Targoff.. Morehead can never fill Dr Claire's shoes. Im sorry to say Dr Morehead has *No bed side manner *No compassion nor does she have any real insight! Stay away! I visited her for a routine chk in like i would w/ dr Targoff... She never read my chart or notes Dr Targoff prepared for me & she would not do blood panel to chk levels... She basically said i was a waste of her time - I had no signs of auto immunity issues - & told me to go home!
STAY AWAY. STAY AWAY! no bedside manner no solution never looked at my chart/bloodwork doesn't want to help find problem eager to hand drugs out couldn't be bothered to look at photos of my swollen wrist from days earlier that leveled me you may as well throw your cash in the toilet
