Worst experience with a health care provider every. I cannot and will not trust this person every again. A soulless and craven predator. Tried to shake me down for an extra $1k for Fraxel. He focused on areas of my body that i cannot see, such as the back of my neck. He also burned the heck out of the backs of my hands that did not need Fraxel and now he has damaged my hands so that I will have to wear gloves even just to walk to the market or take a summer hike on the beach.
I've been to CSI for about a year and a half and have been to the following locations: Marina/cow hollow, Presidio, Nob Hill and Daly City. The reason for that is because I really liked my provider, Danielle Daravos. She was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, this review is not about her whatsoever. She is amazing and I'm sad that I will no longer be seeing her as she helped clear my acne a lot. However, CSI is absolutely horrible. The front desk receptionist are the rudest, most unhelpful and unpleasant people to talk to. There has always been a history of CSI having had communication but recently it has gotten worse as they have implemented AI into their phone answering system. I mean if you couldn't reach anyone before, GOOD LUCK to you now. I was calling to reschedule my 3 month check in and called 3 different office probably 5 times each over the span of 2-3 days and FINALLY good heavens I reached someone just to be put on hold! I had already decided that due to such horrible communication and horrific front desk staff that my time here was over. I'll be moving on to a dermatology office that is better equipped. While I think the doctors and PA's here are great and my negative review (at least for me) is not a reflection of their care, the hassle of trying to reach someone helpful is really not worth going here. There's other doctors and PA's at other offices that do tremendously better. PS if you want to skip the AI agent say "transfer me" and it will automatically transfer you.
Dr. Chen and staff were all excellent.
Dr Chen is very thorough with his assessment and provides great care.
Friendly staff
5/5 - Dr. Chen is highly knowledgeable, efficient, professional and helpful. His staff are excellent, too.
Staff is very professional, and kind.
Great doctor,, bedside manner terrific, great staff overall good experience
The person at front desk was very personal. The Dr. was great. Would be happy to recommend him
This review is not for services provided but rather the front desk/office staff/billing. I called 48 hours before my appointment to request a "Good Faith Estimate" as their website states is a right to all patients to determine estimated cost of an appointment. My appointment was simple- new patient office visit, no procedure. The staff continued to tell me to call my insurance. Of course my insurance instructed I call Skin Institute back and ask for the expected dollar amount for the type of appointment I made, which they did not provide. The billing dept was unable to be reached. I cancelled the appointment as I don't want to deal with an unexpected bill. They did not honor their "good faith estimate" policy

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
