List of Crawford Chung's Reviews
Ive have been seeing Dr. Crawford Chung for over 30 years, he is very knowledgeable, you can get appointment with in a couple of days. His office is never over crowded, and you can get your prescription filled the same day. He doesnt take a moth to fill out insurance forms
I am surprised that Dr. Chung has any reviews under five stars. I have bee seeing him for several years for my asthma and he has been able to control it allowing me to run three marathons. He responds to what I tell him and advises accordingly. He is polite, respectful, responsive, and exactly what I look for in a doctor.
My sister was referred to Dr. Chung by her internist for problems with breathing, swallowing and speaking in May 2016. Dr. Chung examined her briefly, then directed her to his office where he spent his time asking her about why she had been in a wheelchair for the last 30 years, unrelated to her current problems with breathing. She told Dr. Chung that she was a smoker, but had stopped 14 years ago. He then gave her free samples of Advair, a combination bronchodialator/steroid inhaler and Biaxin, an antibiotic. These are commonly prescribed if a patient has difficulty breathing and they are nonsmokers. He did NOT give her a diagnosis of what her symptoms could be due to.He did NOT order a chest xray.Three weeks later, my sister returned for a follow up visit, as her symptoms did not go away.Dr. Chung spent even less time examining her. He did NOT give her a diagnosis of what her symptoms could be due to.He did NOT order a chest xray on the follow up visit. Instead, he referred my sister to see an ENT, with no other follow up as to who she eventually found, and with no calls made on her behalf.A week after this second visit, her symptoms got worse and she checked into the ER at CPMC. The hospital responsibly ordered a catscan and petscan to determine the cause of her breathing problems. To our horror, she was diagnosed with an aggressive lung cancer and died 11 days after the diagnosis, but died three weeks after seeing Dr. Chung on her second visit. As a pulmonologist, Dr. Chung should have been alarmed by the signs and ordered my sister to get chest xrays at once. Had Dr. Chung been more thorough, compassionate, and offered explanations, our family would have had more time to consider options such as treatment of the cancer or considerations for palliative care. We lost three weeks depending on Dr. Chung to treat my sister with care and knowledge.I wish that we had NOT seen Dr. Chung and found another pulmonologist. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Dr. Chung, and agree with the other reviewers about his lack of ability to answer questions, his lack of compassion, and his unwillingness to spend time with his patients.Dr. Chung did so little for my sister, when he could have done so much more.
Very intelligent, professional and attentive to details Doctor. I highly recommend him.
He is an experienced and intelligent doctor. I have heard good things about him. A smart doctor does not mean he/she would be a good doctor. This doctor ignored patients questions but only focused on getting his chart done. When your patient is newly diagnosed with diabetes, it is new to him/her. If you are the primary care physician to your patient, YOU have the responsibility to explain to your patient what it is, how it is affecting the health, and what plan you and the patient are gonna take to prevent it from getting worse! When the blood sugar control has worsened and the patient still does not understand what is going on. YOU need to explain it. Patient asked questions and you keep saying give me a second and hurry to get your charting done so you can see more patients a day=more money, YOU are NOT a responsible doctor. Your patient left your office without understanding the disease. Maybe you think educating is not your job, then you should refer your patient to the diabetes center. Overall, Dr. Chung does not really care about you. He would care if he can finish seeing you and finish charting on time. He is NOT accessible at all!!
Honestly, 1 star is giving this doctor too much credit. Anyone is who defaulted by their insurance or referred to this physician, RUN! The office is dirty, they dont have any updated equipment, and they have NO idea what theyre doing.. including the doctor. When I went into the room to be seen, all the tools were laying on the counter (looking used and unsanitary), there was USED gauze next to the table, and some of the equipment didnt even work. The doctor walked in, didnt wash his hands and proceeded to try and use a glass thermometer on me ( which resembled an old rectal thermometer). At that point, I asked him to wash his hands, and he recluctantly did. I must of irritated him, because he took my blood pressure and grabbed my arm as hard as he could (which seemed like he was punishing me for asking him to be a sanitary physician). At the time, I was suffering from a sinus infection, but after everything he did in the first 5 minutes of seeing me, I wasnt surprised that he DIDNT look at my sinuses. Please, dont go and see this doctor.. for your own wellbeing.
Dr. Chung really able to spend time with his patients. He will list to you and make sure you have no question before you leave his office. He makes me inhaler free within six months. I even switched to him as my PCP.

Absolute 5 star!!!!! And just to let you know I would give 10 if I could. Dr. Chung has been my primary for last 10 years. He is amazing as well as Judy who works for him. If this man could be the face of our healthcare, there would be no issues in this country.Seeing any other doctor just brought in a sea of frustrations.Good luck to previous Yelper, finding better than Dr. Chung.Your new doctor might remember your face, but he/she is not going to that good.
Dr. Chung was once my primary care physician, until I realized that he never seemed to remember who I was after each visit. His staff was lovely in accomodating my visits when I felt ill from secondary infections. However, that just wont cut it for my health care dollars.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
