Dr Rector is an excellent doctor. He is very knowledgeable, spends time with his patients to answer questions, and has a gentle and caring bedside manner. My family has been seeing him for over 20 years
My experience was less than I expected. He is not thorough or informative. You can find a better urologist.
Love my Doctor
Dr Ernest R Rector is an Excellent Urologist, top tier across the board
Dr. rector is a great Doctor.CHIEF OF UROLOGY I have worked for him for 3 years and overall he is sure a great boss & totally recommend him, we work as a team the staff and as well the office provides translators in spanish and cantinese. we have 2 locations: OPEN MON- FRI 9AM-5PM ST. Update - All I had were outdated x-rays, and the doctor speculated that the kidney stones might be gone (????). Why would I make an appointment regarding removing the stones when I was still having symptoms? I was urged to register with Medi-Cal. I got the local office number from the State of California's official website. I'm too young to be eligible, and I don't qualify under any of the "special circumstances" listed. If you're going to advise a patient, you're obligated to check that your information is correct. Dr. Rector indicated that he charges hundreds for his services, not "thousands" as his office first suggested. The doctor should not be saying one thing, his office staff another.
2 weeks ago I had prostate surgery. I would like to thank Dr. Reginald for being very professional. Before and after surgery, Dr. Reginald was always available to answer any questions that I had. My surgery was a success!
Stay away from this doctor! I saw him for urinary frequency and he persuaded me to have a microwave procedure where they essentially cooked part of my prostate. He told me if it did not work, there would be no negative effects. It turned out that he had only done a few of these procedures and he had a financial interest in the machine and was trying to drum up business for it. My surgery was a disaster. It did not solve my problem. The recovery was long and painful. My sexual function was permanently diminished. Subsequent to the surgery, another doctor told me that my prostate was not all that enlarged and that the surgery was not warranted. A third doctor told me that the microwave surgery was experimental. After a period of time, I developed calcifications in the prostate and ended up having a complete resection of the prostate, not because of the urinary symptoms, but because of the damage done by doctor Rector with his microwave machine. Avoid this doctor like the plague.
I'm a visitor to the city and after a visit to the Emergency Room at CPMC, Dr. Rector was able to see me the following business day. Then, he was able to schedule me for a CATscan a couple of days later. I found him to be thorough, pleasant, professional, and his analysis of my problem completely synced with that of my home urologist on the East Coast. His staff was completely helpful, and I could not have been more pleased. I'd recommend him any day of the week!
I would not recommend Dr. Rector to anyone. My experience with him was very unprofessional. I saw him once and he could not diagnose my symptoms. So he ordered some tests and then did not call me back with the results for three weeks until after I had left three messages. This in and of itself is unethical, but top it off with his office lying to me about the insurance they take and then billing me for my visit before I've even gotten my test results back is absurd! DO NOT go to see Dr. Rector. Spend your money somewhere else (because you'll likely be paying out of pocket since he lies about what insurance he takes).

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
