Jacquelyn Chyu's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Chyu was amazing for us during twins pregnancy and helped us throughout when there were complications and suggested best doctors in both Washington and UCSF. We were blessed to have somebody who did a detail review every time with both of our twins and sometimes patiently waited to get the right picture or frame. Her expertise is commendable and for every visit she gives the same attention to detail. Now that the kids are delivered, we miss the conversations we had with her and truly feel great about all the advise she gave! Don't look at reviews that talk about patients judging doctors for their expertise, its laughable! Doctor also has nothing to do with Insurance.

She is one of the third class doctor in the world I believe. She will loot patients by charging 1085 $ & by giving confused & misleading & probably bogus suggestions. There are some Gynologist in Fremont who has setting with her, in case of minor urgency during pregnancy, those gynolosist will send patient to her & she will simply loot. She is actually an expert of niether side, pregnancy nor any specialty.

She is actually a broker(she said as bridge) between Gynologist & other specialist like nephro, ortho, derma, Neuro etc. Broker charges is 1085$. She will confused & misleads you when you are in critical situation, like we got. She talks a lot unnecessary for same thing repeatedly.

An amazing doctor, never seen any doctor like her, she is so relaxed and make patient very comfortable while performing ultra sound scan. Spends lot of time in identifying issues during NT scan

Finally, a doctor who goes the extra distance! I needed a cerclage. She didnt beat around the bush. I had lost a baby before and my cervix was already threatening again at 15 weeks. She told me what was going on and got me in right away to have the stitch put in. She did all this in a warm and caring way. Things were touch and go for a while but I went all the way to 34 weeks before I had my daughter. She's doing great. I am so grateful. Dr. Chyu is the real deal!

Dr. Chyu was highly recommended by my ob. She had excellent bedside manners but basically sent me home w a two week follow-up w severe IUGR. My Ob felt this was unacceptable and ordered weekly US and twice weekly NST. I felt sicker as the two weeks went by and basically was encouraged by second opinion to get steroid injections ( 29 weeks). At first she refused and sent me out of clinic to follow up in a week or go to hospital if 'things got worse' ( worse than what?) or if my baby 'stopped kicking'. I asked her to admit me bc I felt so bad. She said I was fine ( w/o checking liver tests, urine protein) Her staff called me back from parking lot after I left ( I could barely walk) to come back to clinic only to give me a message from her to walk to hospital across street to get steroid shots. Just over 48 hours later when my upper quadrant pain ( told to take Tylenol or norco), vomiting and shortness of breath was so severe, I went to the hospital. I had HELLP syndrome with liver test levels in the 1000's! I was anemic and my platelets were low. A second opinion perinatologist later told me I probably bled under the liver capsule ( bc the area of my liver started to bulge out from my abdomen)I never saw Dr. Chyu again. When I called the office, the staff told me I couldn't see her anymore bc I had delivered! Apparently when I have asked others, perinatologists don't just charge $5000 for two US and then disappear from a patient's high risk care and delivery.There is a happy ending to this despite my negligent care. Baby survived and thrived w/o defects and so did I.I have an HMO and have already requested an out of network physician but they have refused. Terrified my next pregnancy will be difficult and I'll be put in harm's way again.Luckily I have the resources to pay cash and go out of network to keep me and baby alive.

My wife and I are on our 4th child and our 3rd child was almost born at 6 months but the contractions were stopped by Dr. Veille and our baby boy ended up going full term. We ended up going back to the high risk department this time due to present circumstances and my wife's history with out last child. About 2 weeks ago Dr. Chyu noticed something not quite right with my wife's cervix so she wanted my wife to go on a modified work schedule in order to be off of her feet as much as possible. She told my wife she could be on her feet at work for 2 hours and then 2 hours of sitting down then for her to go home and bed rest for the rest of the time. My wife agreed and spoke to her job who then asked her for a note. We were told the note would be faxed. After waiting for about a week my wife's job stated they really needed the note. We contacted Dr. Chyu and were told she was busy and then later that she had gone on vacation. Once we got the letter it said 1 hour being on feet instead of 2 which was not what the doctor had ordered in the first place. So, my wife went to Dr. Chyu's office to get the letter and she was told by staff that Dr. Chyu stated that she would NOT change the 1 hour to 2 because she "doesn't get paid to do things like that" and she refused to change her mistake which would only be changing the number 1 to a number 2. In the meantime, my wife had been waiting for about 25 minutes for this message, high risk pregnancy and all. Another very nice doctor, who will remain nameless, must have overheard the conversation and told staff to tell my wife that he or she would make the correction and get the letter to my wife. We had a great experience with the "high risk" maternity department in the past and up until this point. The unneeded stress that my wife was put under during this very difficult time for us was absolutely uncalled for and very unprofessional. Sorry that Dr. Chyu feels like she doesn't "get paid" to correct her own mistake on a doctor's recommendation letter to an employer. Yes, changing a 1 to a 2 does take up quite a bit of time. Sutter has always been good to us and our children, and we pay extra just to maintain their services, but this type of "patient treatment" is not only shameful but downright dangerous due to our doctor adding stress to my wife during this very difficult time. My advice would be for others to seek out a different doctor at Sutter. This incident says alot about Dr. Chyu's priorities regarding her patients. I must add that we have had nothing but great experiences with all the other doctors in the department but this incident was so surprising and uncaring that I can't just "let it go" as my wife says because she is afraid of possible backlash from the doctor if we "complained". Well, we pay alot of money to receive care from Sutter and expect nothing less than the best possible care from this hospital but Dr. Chyu definitely missed the mark on this one and left my wife stressed and upset. Maybe we should find out what it is doctors "get paid for" regarding patient care and then choose.

Dr. Chyu was fabulous! She took great care of me during my pregnancy. She took time to explain everything. I was sent to her by ambulance. My blood pressure was high and I got preeclampsia. I felt like I was in such good hands! She watched everything so closely and knew exactly when we needed to deliver. She made my family feel comfortable too. My little girl spent 58 days in the NICU but she's home now and gorgeous. I just cant say enough great things. Anyone would be lucky to be under her care.

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. I was told that my daughter would have holoprosencephaly, which is a rare kind of retardation. I believe in christ, and I wanted to go through my pregnancy even though she was telling me that I could abort if I wanted even though it was late because of what the specialists had seen on the ultra sounds. At first, I was horrified. I cried so much at my appointments, that I couldn't understand anything that was going on, and in all the meantime, she would be explaining things to me really fast. How am I supposed to retain information when I am crying so much? I brought my sister and mom with me often, and they too did not like the experiences we had with the doctor. She was extremely unsympathetic. I was told by another specialist that my daughter had a 90% chance of having holoprosencephaly based on how accurate the doctors usually are. Although I didn't believe that she had it, I felt like maybe I wasn't being realistic, so I heard what everyone was telling me, including Dr.Chyu. I just felt like she pushed things too much. She wanted me to take a class that prepares people for having children with holoprosencephaly, but I didn't see a point since the things she could have could range from so many different things and they were still not positive that she had it! Dr.Chyu also delivered my daughter when I went into labor. The staff was expecting my daughter to have problems as soon as she was born, and they didn't believe she would cry when she came out. Well, my daughter threw them way off. She came out with a loud cry! She had a 9.5 apgar score, and they gave her an mri right afterwards, and she has no problems. Still to this day, they don't know what they see on the ultrasounds and such. She was the healthiest baby in the whole hospital as far as I'm concerned. She nursed right away, and the neonatal nurse told me she was ahead of the other babies because they normally don't nurse that quickly. As far as I am concerned, Jesus blessed me with a healthy child, and I don't care what anybody else tells me! I would have loved my child no matter what she had, but I was blessed with a healthy one anyways!
