Wow. Probably the worst ER staff I have ever interacted with. And I have been a medic for 20yrs. @ the Santa Rosa location, you have to check in in multiple locations, the staff make you feel like you are inconveniencing them for being there. No one looks at you while talking to you. Only allowed one visitor at a time even if you’re with a kiddo. The waiting room is dingy. No snack machines. No wonder you only have 40% approval ratings. Should have drove to a different place.

I used to love the convenience of Kaiser, but now I hate everything about it. From the ten minutes it takes to get through security and being treated like a prisoner, to the arrogant doctors who can’t properly diagnose or treat patients. I will most likely be switching insurance companies when open season comes. After about 20 years of being treated here I want nothing to do with this company.

Avoid Kaiser Permanente at all costs, it is by far the worst health insurance I have ever experienced. It may seem fine if you are relatively healthy and are able to have all of your health care needs met at one of their facilities, but the second you have a severe condition that they are unable to treat you will be fighting everyday to have your medical needs met. My significant other was taken to the closest hospital by ambulance on Christmas. We found out that he had a brain infection and severe brain swelling. He was admitted into the Neuroscience ICU. Due to the brain infection and swelling he underwent three emergency Neurosurgery. My partner is still missing the right side of his skull which was removed to relieve pressure on the brain from extreme swelling. He is supposed to be having continued care and follow-ups from the neurosurgeon who performed the previous surgeries. He is currently awaiting a final surgery which will be a cranioplasty to replace the missing piece of skull. Kaiser Permanente has denied all requests and referrals for continued care and a future surgery with his neurosurgeon. My partners primary care provider at Kaiser Permanente White Marsh Medical Center, his Kaiser Permanente case manager, and a Kaiser Permanente neurologist have all stated he needs to continue care with the neurosurgeon who has performed the previous procedures. Kaiser's own neurologist formally put in a request for his continued care with the outside neurosurgeon stating that "this is out of Kaiser's scope and area of expertise, no other neurosurgeon will want to take him as a patient considering the severity of his case and the fact that he is awaiting another Neurosurgery." Their own neurologist continued to say "he needs to continue care with WellSpan Neurosurgery for the best outcome regarding his health." Kaiser's referral department even denied his request. Since the global health period has ended and all request for continued care with WellSpan Neurosurgery have been denied my partner has now missed an MRI and CT scan to monitor brain swelling and possibility of reoccurring infection as well as two neurosurgery follow ups. The severe negligence and disregard for his health should be considered criminal. My significant other is only 43 years old. He was healthy with no underlying medical conditions. All it takes is one serious illness, a random infection, or an unexpected accident and with Kaiser Permanente as your insurance you will not be able to see the doctors or receive the care that you need.

30+ -Year Member Frustrated by Growing Delays and Cancellations My experience with Kaiser Permanente has become increasingly frustrating due to serious and worsening issues with scheduling and provider availability. While the doctors and physician assistants are professional and competent, the system supporting them is clearly overburdened. It is not uncommon to wait several months for a routine appointment—even with a primary care physician—let alone a specialist. Even when facing a serious cardiac concern, I encountered multiple lengthy delays in securing necessary appointments. In just the past few months, three out of my last five appointments were canceled at the last minute—sometimes less than an hour in advance—with no clear explanation. Each time, I had to wait more than a week, often longer, just to reschedule. These kinds of disruptions make it extremely difficult to manage even basic healthcare needs, let alone urgent or ongoing conditions. It’s evident that the network is overwhelmed, likely due to over-enrollment without a corresponding increase in provider capacity. As a member for over 30 years, I’ve observed a dramatic decline in accessibility over the past few years. Routine care has become a challenge, and continuity of care has suffered. Until these issues are meaningfully addressed, I would strongly caution others against choosing Kaiser Permanente if timely, reliable access to care is a priority

You need to tell your doctor what to do. Always underestimated your symptoms, and don't even mention the urgent care, which never has any available appointment, especially in San Leandro. Ah but guess what, they call you right always in case you have a bill. they are usless and I am stuck with them since they are the cheapest plan that my company offers. if you can avoid Kaiser

I have been with Kaiser for over 50 years I found it great for minor ailments and childbirth but had reservations about a serious medical condition I just had 3 heart surgeries and have beat cancer twice. Not only did I get state of the art care but their doctors were unsurpassed in their skill and knowledge. Thank you Kaiser for such great care and saving my life.

This will be my final appointment as a Kaiser patient. After years of having my concerns brushed off, my symptoms ignored, being accused of drug seeking, called a hypochondriac, frequent gaslighting, and constant refusal to even have conversations about my concerns and instead having every doctor focus on only my weight and diabetes, this was the final straw. Not only was I completely dismissed, but this doctor literally told me that he would not help me. That a condition I was asking to have simple blood tests run to investigate, didn't ACTUALLY exist, nor was it recognized as a legitimate condition by Kaiser. This is a condition recognized by the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic. It can be diagnosed by running a series of blood tests. And there are even medications available for the treatment of this condition. Yet somehow, it doesn't exist? I am done. I want to lose weight. I want to get my diabetes back under control. I cannot do that without having less pain, less nausea, fewer breathing issues, and even more problems. Problems that started 30 some years ago. That I have suffered with the majority of my memory. That have gotten worse as I have gotten older. That have been ignored. I AM DONE!!!!! I am more than my weight. I am more than a diabetic. I am a human being. I deserve respect. I deserve to be heard. I deserve better. All patients deserve better.. Do better. ETA: After reviewing the post appointment notes, I wanted to publically address the false information in them. 1. No chief complaint on file ***How can there be when NO ONE listens to me and actually hears me. I have MANY complaints. Had you actually listened to me, you would have realized this.*** 2. SUBJECTIVE: 45 year old woman establishing care: She has been unhappy with a series of PCPs--feels they have been unwilling to explore concerns and ideas she has a about her health. ***Well, considering this is MY body and MY health we are talking about, I think I have a better grasp on my situation than any doctor can possibly have.*** They have wanted to focus on her diabetes, weight etc and have been dismissive of alternative diagnoses she has proposed. She feels like there is some underlying medical problem that she can date to her early teen years that has never been figured out. ***Again, I know my body. I know what my symptoms are, roughly when they started, how they have progressed, and what has and hasn’t helped. But you, just like the others, refuse to listen and treat me like I am too ignorant to know more than you about my own body and history.*** One example that she mentions is that she intermittently experiences wheezing and sputum production. She has been diagnosed with both asthma and allergic rhinitis but seems to reject that. ***I was diagnosed via blood test to ONLY be allergic to dust and dust mites. I react violently to many other things. But you refused to listen. If you had bothered, you would have also learned that allergy meds, OTC and RX, have done NOTHING to mitigate the symptoms. Same with asthma meds. NOTHING HELPS THE SYMPTOMS!*** She seems to find it significant that she has been involve in 3 auto accidents in her life. ***Again, had you listened to me, it’s been 3 bad car accidents in 4 years, all including injuries. It has been 9 car accidents I have been in total. And the point of mentioning those was to explain my frustrations of having my concerns ignored regarding my increasing pain and refusals to help with the manner of pain management I need.*** She emphasizes struggles with chronic diffuse musculoskeletal pain and daily headaches. ***I mentioned constant pain, since puberty. I mentioned daily headaches since my teens. I mentioned increasing difficulties with sudden difficulty breathing, excessive and distressing sudden attacks of mucus that can be so bad I end up gagging, gasping for breath, and vomiting. Multiple times a week. I mentioned other symptoms that you completely ignored.*** 3. She wonders about “mast cell activation syndrome” based on her Internet researches. ***Doctors won’t help me figure anything out, so what else am I supposed to do? I educate myself. I utilized resources from Mayo Clinic, Cleavland Clinic, and WHO. You responded by telling me you didn’t believe MCAS was a real condition. *** 4. Epic chart selectively reviewed ***Selectively. Very selectively.*** 5. Listened at length. Expressed my willingness to take over as PCP, but I do not see any viable changes to make in her management at this time. ***Listened? Try stared at a screen to the side, barely even looked at me, and told me you would not be willing to consider anything beyond what was already happening. Simple blood tests would have confirmed if my thoughts had merit or not. Actually listening and not judging me from what the chart says, just might have given you some insight. *** *************************** But no. I am just a fat, diabetic woman who is clearly a hypochondriac, too uneducated and unintelligent to know her own body and past, and too ignorant to have any semblance of understand of medical conditions. Based on the way I have been treated by Kaiser doctors, this is clearly the way I am viewed. I am not someone who see some Zebra condition on shows like Grey’s Anatomy and immediately insist I have it. I am an intelligent woman who is quite capable of doing research, finding reliable sources, and even interpreting peer reviewed research.

Extremely upset. I have been with Kaiser for 12 years and today I got a letter from my new doctor. I didn’t switch doctors, I have had the same doctor for years. I was randomly changed to a new doctor. How can they do this? My doctor is still with Kaiser so it’s not because he left and I can’t even switch back because he’s not accepting new patients. I don’t understand how they can just do this with telling you first.
